Finally today I got to wear one of the outfits </p> <p>1 &amp; 2. This nubby tweed trumpet skirt is a favourite thrifting find. Heavy rain (the day after a snowstorm) made the perfect day for it, with no pant hems to drag in the wet. Worn with a cotton sweater (temps too warm for the big wooly ones like #4 in the blog). I couldn't resist adding this black&amp;white "plaid" brooch, a gift from my daughter. Close-up of the lovely texture.</p> <p>That was my only true tweed outfit lately, but I've added some other recent skirt outfits in the relaxed vein.</p> <p>3. Couldn't find the black&amp; white flecked tweed I intended so I subbed this charcoal grey knit skirt with embossed pattern. Topped with black and grey striped shirt with French cuffs, and knee high boots.</p> <p>4. This jacquard skirt shows how i would have worn the tweed pencil: with a slouchy cowl neck sweater, and leggings because I hate the feel of tights.</p> <p>5&amp;6. I usually wear this marled knit two-piece dress as separates. Worn with ancient chenille vest and toning socks.</p> <p>7&amp;8. Tobacco tube skirt and a heavy drapey blouse I am trying to get into rotation. I'm not sure I care for these proportions, but it's definitely meant as an overblouse (not tucked) and I am tired of that look over pants. Any suggestions?</p> <p>Not portrayed: the kilt and cashmere sweater I wore for our Robbie Burns supper. Here though is my son's version of haggis, neeps and tatties.</p> <p>Thanks for humouring me. I will probably now go back to wearing trousers for the next two months of winter. </p>
