This one was tough for me. I prefer 1, but throw in a plus or minus 5 for a margin of error and it becomes a crap shoot for me. : )

I know, lots of help ! I can't explain why I prefer 1 slightly, I just do.

Late here but I prefer 2 both objectively and on you. The color and layering add interest, and knowing that the hand knit is your signature makes me choose it for you.

I hope I'm not too late, I'm another #2 vote. I associate a artsy element to your style and #2 has that for me with the top untucked and the interesting details and colors with the lime top. #1 is nice too, but is a bit classic which I don't associate with your style. This is a very interesting exercise!

Team #2 was well in the lead last night, but Team #1 is catching up!

So I think there are a few different ways people are approaching this choice:

--which one they think looks more "me".
--which one appeals to their personal tastes.
--which one is objectively more flattering (but I'm not sure this can be divorced from the first two).

I think they are all valid points. I also now have even more admiration for Angie and other stylists who have to dress other people. I'm not sure I'd be able to do it without injecting my own personal tastes and biases.

#2, because of how I perhaps reductively read your personality, taste and interests! The fresh green vest, a little old-fashioned element that is contemporanised by the jeans and blazer, the organic and almost botanical quality of the pattern... very very Diana to me.

Both are awesome. Being a fellow owner of this blazer, I like it every outfit but if I really have to choose, I will go with #2. It is a little unexpected so looks more interesting. #1 is something I would totally wear. I think I need to sit with Angie on the bench with this one.

I wanted to say that when I mentioned visual weight, I didn't intend anything connected with actual weight or appearance of it. I meant that, to me, all the attention getting lines and contrasts and pattern were happening in that area. I was talking about the design elements all competing for my attention within a small area, as though they were in a small pan of a balance scale and weighing it down with focus demands.

Initially I loved the sleek, clean lines of #1. But more and more I am appreciating the way you have modified #2 to suit you by elongating the shirt tails and adding the funky, cropped, detailed top.

I am not on the fence. Both outfits make you look amazing and I vote for both!!! Awesome work!

I've read your both threads and while I both appreciate your affection for the originality, which is a lot more showcased in 2, I also think both of these look like you so I'm going with what may inspire you to experiment more.

Ooh, I'm glad someone is continuing the game. I think this should be a regular feature on the forum, like WIW.

I like #1 mainly for the reason that there is less going on. In #2, all I really see is the green sweater as opposed to you. Also, it seems like the hem at the bottom of the sweater is not sitting quite straight, which distracts me. I also like the clearer waistline definition in outfit #1.

Hmm, now I am wondering whether chopping my head off in the photos would change anything... I know usually Angie says that you can't assess outfits without the head, because your face/hair/specs are part of the equation.

Shevia, that's an interesting idea. I may have to try adding my orange lace handknit scarf, as I haven't worn it for ages. (That would also add a "unique" element to #1!)

And I love that opinions in both cases have been varied. I really like to hear people's actual reactions. Of course who knows if they would feel the same if they saw the outfits IRL -- I suspect IRL I would be so taken by your face that I'd barely notice the difference between the two outfits -- it would register that you looked great and were wearing a fun jacket and a cool hand knit and that would be that.

Ok, this is a tough one. But I think I am going with #2. Maybe because there is a repeat of the yellow color (more or less). I like the vest a lot. I do like #1 too though and the blue jeans and boots look great. Just wondering if another sour color (scarf, necklace) would change my vote.

Suz, I think it's a good thing that people are responding based on their personal priorities/tastes, because it means that there isn't one of them that is objectively and clearly worse than the other. In other words, we're getting pretty good at putting together decent outfits on a regular basis!

Diana, don't you find that an interesting phenomenon -- that exactly the qualities some like in an outfit, others say are absent -- and vice versa!? Even when we're considering two outfits that are remarkably similar, with similar components. And in your case, even the same jacket! And colours!

I do think some it comes down to personal figure flattery priorities and style preferences that people -- try as they may-- can't get past.

Angie, no fair! I want a samosa!

To all of you who chose #2 because it's more original and unique - I think this is the main reason why I prefer this version as well. I really like Celeste's term "unexpected but perfect." I think this is what I should strive for in all my outfits!

Vildy, I admit I do worry about emphasizing my middle sometimes, even though objectively I know it's ridiculous. And I do have days where I'd probably change to a darker shirt because the white is too glaring in the middle. So I totally get where you are coming from. And I hadn't noticed about the neckline of the top echoing the notches on the blazer! That's really cool!

Interesting also that there are votes for the proportions of 1 as well as those of 2… personally (like Sveta I think) I find the proportions of #1 to be a little too much pants and not enough top. It may just be that I rarely tuck tops into skinnies though. I think it only works here because I have a big, heavy belt. (Truth is that I did it because the length of the top untucked seemed awkward.)

I think #2 is more you because of the playful tails and the hand-knit vest, great colors. The straight across lines of the vest are not working to my eye though, I think I would prefer a vest with a scoop neck and the bottom hem a little longer and curved to play better with the shirt tails and jacket.

I like #1 - I don't like the extra colour in #2; seems distracting to the general integrity of the outfit.

You know I'm still liking #1. Went back to check out the amazing handknit in that one and I see a vee notch neckline that echoes the small neon bound vee notches in the blazer lapels and also picks up the line of your chin.

I like #1. Where the undershirt falls in #2 is not best flattering. if you put on that green top in #1, I think you're home run.

DRAT! I'm done for. If you knitting skills weren't so keen, I would have seen that. But no, you are stealth professional super knitter. Definitely bench, then. You just look too gorgeous in both of them for me to choose a favorite.

I voted for #2 because it's so much more interesting. Even just viewing the thumbnails, before I enlarged, I really was drawn to 2. The vest is awesome and adds textural interest. The vest and shirttail work together to make the proportions work. Wouldn't look nearly as good with the shirt tucked, imho. I also like the black pants...just the right amount of contrast. #1 is quite nice. #2 is inspired.
