I have no luck finding nice bags at thrift, but I can't complain because I find wonderful clothes all the time. My latest, best finds are featured in my WIW from yesterday: an Alfani leather skirt and a LOFT ruffled blouse that pair amazingly together and cost me a grand total of $8. When I thrifted the skirt I also found a Forever21 striped cardigan that I *love* and every time I've worn it, I've gotten several compliments. I am not really a very good thrift shopper. I only have about 10 things in my closet that are thrifted, but they are very much loved and worn. I think part of it is that, I hold even the thrifted items up to high standards. If they don't fit and flatter, second hand clothes don't come home with me even if they are cheap or a great deal.<br /> Also, I am still very much overwhelmed by proper thrift shops like Goodwill, where items are sorted according to color. My Savers groups items according to item type (sweaters, long-sleeve blouses, long sleeve knits, short-sleeve blouses, short sleeve knits, dresses, etc.), and then item size. It is a little less overwhelming.That's why I can easily browse there. They also have a lot of bright lights, open space, and clean, accessible, ample dressing rooms. Even then, it took me about a whole year to get used to the idea of second hand shopping, then another year to find a thrift shop that doesn't feel overwhelming, and probably another 6 months to find the courage to try something on.:) I still only look at certain sections and skip over others (jeans!) and have yet to see let alone actually buy a decent pair of shoes. </p> <p>Denise - Using hair spray to clean leather bags is a trick that I heard on the forum but I haven't yet tried it myself. I am happy to report that I didn't even need to resort to hair spray. The two spots came off by rubbing with a moist qtip.</p> <p>My savers is a weird place. If they recognize the brand name, they jack up the price. Michael Kors, Banana Republic, and even Ann Taylor items get the slapped with the highest price tags. But you can get some nice, high-end brands like Club Monaco, Petite Sophisticate and Theory for really for nothing at all.
