I think I am at the cross point of age and life situation that has really caused me to reevaluate the judgements I place on myself.</p> <p>A few weeks ago I was remarking to my family that I need to get in to the doctor because my summer spots are back. Since I was 10 years old I've had these spots. I can take a medication that is a little hard on my liver, but my doctor isn't particularly worried about that since I only need to take it for a week or so once or twice per year. BUT, my oldest daughter stopped me in my tracks when I was talking about needing to get rid of my spots again, by saying "I like your spots!" Ummm, what? Her younger sister nodded agreement with her. Then my oldest said "My mom has spots. It's part of you to me." I'm still processing that, weeks later. Yup, I have spots, they're hurting no one, never have, and my kids have grown to love them as a part of their recognition of who their mom is.</p> <p>Soooo, this year I'll be strolling around in my short sleeves and tank tops with my unchallenged liver and my spots on display. </p>
