Such helpful insights! I think it's time to rethink my rubric and style description. I've always felt like my look is hard to define: neither RATE nor polished, not exactly boho but also not refined, not edgy but not ladylike or straight modern classic. Your adjectives are helping me find my way.

Organic. Natural. Earthy. Rugged. These are words I've never considered before, but there is some truth to them. I think you've all put a finger on the element in my style that I've never been able to identify. This is giving me a lot to think about...in a good way!

Beth Ann, thank you for putting a name ("natural") to my non-RATE, non-polished aesthetic. I do think there is a modern element to my style...especially lately. And texture, architectural silhouettes, and neutral colors are definitely elements of love for me.

Suz, I'm liking the sound of organic or natural paired with modern minimalism. Organic Modern Minimalist. That could work!

Una, I'm not sure what my twist is. I do love pattern, and I'm becoming more sensitive to shape/cut. So maybe that's the direction I should head. I am trying to learn more about texture, too, and I've pinned many different textures...so there's that. I know for me it probably won't be about color. I love neutrals too much!

Claire, I love refined rugged or Rugged Luxury!

Thanks, Brenda. I've always loved non-traditional jewelry. And I'm glad you shared your observations on texture and boho elements. I know the boho love is still with me...despite my modern direction. And I'm happy to embrace texture...although I think that's something I still have to work on incorporating into my wardrobe.

Sarah, thanks for your observations. Selectively embracing trends as eclectic is an interesting thought. Hm.

Nicole, yes! Scarves, boots, long toppers have long been mainstays of my wardrobe. Even before YLF.

I love a good analysis session!

Earthy classic, definitely with a little sprinkling of bohemian. A very American style, approachable, free spirited and with a soft edge (lots of scarves, boots, long toppers). I love it!

I have enjoyed a nice repin session compliments of your board Thanks! I feel like stylewise we are similar in some ways.... Angie has dubbed my style Arty Eclectic although I am not totally 100% sure I know what this means. I definitely see your style being quite Earthy/Luxe with rich browns and textures. The eclectic side I see as selectively embracing items and trends. Arty, I see as a very personally influenced choice I think this comes to me in liking unique and handcrafted or upcycled pieces. I often dont care for particular pieces called arty but if Angie sees it I am trusting of her opinion.

ETA: Not trying to threadjack, just trying to explain what I see based upon my limited experience/eye.

I don't know if I know how to define it, but I love it! The specific jewelry pieces you pinned are what I think of as "arty".... fun silver pieces instead of the huge bauble necklaces that are seen everywhere on everyone else. You look like you could shop for some things at an "art in the park" show.

I also see texture... shiny tops... leather... refined but tough at the same time with a little boho thrown in for good measure. I'm definitely going to be following your board from now on.

I see a refined ruggedness here. Rae has referenced a campaign by Ralph Lauren called Rugged Luxury and your board speaks to that. I love all of the natural elements too. These looks suit you to a T, Nancylee.

I'm a little shaky on "Arty" too - vs. Eclectic or even Boho. I like Angie's use of "with a twist" to describe that little extra something personal - but what's the twist in your case? Color? Pattern? Shape? Fabric?

I agree with Beth Ann. I would say "earthy" (as opposed to boho, or rather, as a subset of boho) or perhaps "natural" or "organic" modern minimalist.

Organic modern minimalist?

Lovely pins! I see a love of texture and not rate, but "natural" elements in your dressing --- lots of rich leathers and fabrics. Arty or architectural pieces can also be considered very modern, too. I think of "Arty" style as a mindset that uses the outfit as a canvas for self expression. Your best looks seem more minimal and pared down --- with great interest coming through texture, amazing silhouettes and refine neutral/tonal color palettes.

Thanks all. I do love Jennifer Aniston's style, and my base look is a simple modern one...but I do try to (or I am in the process of trying to!) add some edgy or arty and boho touches here and there to keep things interesting. I think I'm a little shaky on the definition of "arty" FWIW.

Una, thanks for identifying my style as neither RATE nor polished. I agree! I've always been unable to classify myself when that discussion comes up on the forum....because I'm neither.

Your responses so far are inspiring me to experiment a little more in my closet to try to bring some more edge and interest to my modern classic canvas. I have some arty/boho/edgy pieces, but I'm not always sure how to make them work with my base style.

I agree - I don't really see arty or eclectic by my definition. I see modern, classic, casual, neutral. Jen Aniston, defnitely (a favorite style icon of mine).

Definitely see minimal, classy, modern, elegant, clean, and neutral. Not so eclectic or arty to my eye. Not streamlined and not RATE, but not polished either. It's a little like Jennifer Aniston's style. Can't wait to see what others have to see.

I've been compiling a Pinterest board over the last few months and finally feel like I have enough pins to see some patterns in style:

https://pinterest.com/nancylee79/fashion-style/

I've identified a rubric of Neutral Arty Minimal Elegant....or you could call it Elegant/Arty Eclectic. What do you think? Any other adjectives come to mind? Observations?

Thanks for looking.
