Runcarla - ooooohhhh good memory! I didn't end up buying the yellow moto jacket so no, I don't have a yellow jacket in my collection at this point.

I appreciate all of your feedback, encouragement and reservations - I learn from all of it. Will definitely be popping back to the store to try on the two jackets and may even buy both (pending if they are both available in my size) to bring home and try in different combinations with pics. Stay tuned.

Denise - good point about the overall ovoid structure of the cocoon jacket. I should point out as well that the fabric of that jacket is slightly stiff and not soft and drapey, which also helps with structure.

Love your thoughtful, organized approach. The drape blouse is beautiful and so wearable; I wear mine with a sharp-shoulder tweedy jacket and it combines really well, given the unstructured look of the blouse. The moto sounds great assuming length and fit work -- you achieve structure, a bit of edge and color in one garment. I could see it looking good with some silky track pants. Again, the structure plus un-structure (drape) combination.

The cocoon jacket does not have shoulders but it does have an overall dramatic ovoid structure that could work. Looking forward to seeing how all of this plays out!

I really love cocoon jackets! And navy is one of my very favorite neutrals. It just feels so fresh. I think the citron jacket is very you - it's a happy color, simple lines, just enough edge.

As for the wrap blouse, these really seem on trend this spring! I'm considering purchasing one!

Have to agree with Kiwigal....I see you a blue-based red. Of course, I know tomato red is a littler edgier and more on trend. So do what makes YOU happy! :D Heck, I'm always classified as a winter. But I wear persimmon orange well and enjoy it in the summer.

It would be good to see you in it though. I have to say that Kiwigal makes a good point about red, as I see you in cooler toned reds too.

My only thought is that would cherry or true red be an option instead of tomato red. It's not that I dislike tomato red- I love it - but I also can see you looking stellar in a red with a blue undertone.

We are on the same page as I've been doing lots of preparing for spring. Citron is well represented in spring/summer for me. And your neutrals are similar to mine though I wear gray more in winter and cream/stone more in summer.

I really like both of the jackets for you. So different yet I can see both styles working well for you. And the navy shirt is beautiful.

Lisa - I haven't had a chance yet to try the citron moto on as they were literally just unpacking them when I was at the store. But I know it's a good color for me, especially when paired with white. I have no problem being conspicuous - lol!

I actually REALLY liked the cocoon coat on but sometimes I have trouble determining volume on myself so a picture is necessary for sure.

I do have some light blue (a pastel blue blazer in particular) so these will be additions to shades of blue I already have.

No red kitten heel in sight - yet. I will NOT give up hope!

Just found this comment in Angie's "How to Dress the Apple Body" guidelines http://youlookfab.com/2014/02/.....type-2014/. So at least technically these items could work.

Dresses and Coats

Wear cocoon shaped sweater dresses and coats because they are voluminous and structured in just the right way.

Moto jackets are excellent when worn open because the silhouette glides
over the curves of the midsection, thereby creating structure but no
cling.

Couple of thoughts from me:

1. I've seen both jackets - and like you was drawn to both, until I tried the cocoon on.

2. love the citron moto, and I think the moto styling is exactly what takes it out of a Palm Beach ladies who lunch look. I had a citron jacket from BCBG last year and just could not bring myself to wear it out of the house. It was a blazer style, but with somewhat exaggerated shoulders, and I felt SO conspicuous despite loving the fit. I just couldn't. Terrible waste of a lot of money. I really like this moto though, and may pick it up myself You could start wearing it now - with black bottoms, denim, etc

3. I tried the cocoon on, and was instantly cured of any desire for it - on me it was just too big and droopy, and long. The lack of a shoulder line is not a good look for me. I'm surprised it worked on you for length - as you are shorter than me, for sure. Let's see a pic !!

4. navy blouse is dynamite! nice :)

5. your plan for spring is a great idea - and you are inspiring me to draw one up for myself; I think your colours are good - but am noticing no light blue or turq - which I would think would be good on you? Both blues work with your other neutrals.....

6. I'm interested in a red kitten heel - have you seen anything?

Elizabeth - no, I'm not abandoning drape altogether. But I'm wanting to temper it with a good dose of structure. With my drape experimentation, I think I got confused with drape versus volume and often ended up in my outfit feeling somewhat sloppy. So for example, I plan on keeping all of my EF pieces (still love them) but will be combining them in slightly different ways to ensure I have some structure. Only one item in an outfit will have drape or volume. Hey - maybe we should go on a shopping trip together some time? :)

Thistle - I know. We have no Spring here either. What can I say...I'm a dreamer!

Mary - hmmmm...good point about the fabric of the citron moto.If I moved forward with purchasing, I would need to ensure to add an element that no "lady who lunches" would wear - lol! Do you think that would work?

Una - you're welcome :)

Glory - citron is a bit of a tricky color, isn't it?

Ok so clearly I need to go and try on both the cocoon coat and the citron moto and take lots of pictures for your feedback and keen eyes.

I guess this is the hard part about not being able to touch things... I assumed the navy jacket was an outdoor spring jacket. The way I work...if it's cold enough for a coat, I want to do it up. But if this is not the way you'd be wearing it, then I have no hesitation! I do like the style.

And I realized I never commented on your spring style direction in general... are you abandonning drape entirely? Or are you just adding those elements in to your existing drapy pieces? I think adding some structure is a great idea, based on your recent comments. I also like the idea of adding citron and tomato red as colours. I also want to add some citron. You can do my shopping for me

Suz - thanks for commenting again. I guess I need to make a trip to The Bay and take some pics of the jacket on.

We have to see it on you. That's it. Again, in theory I love the idea with a tube skirt, say...but on me, personally, that wouldn't be enough to make it work. I like my structure up in the shoulder area.

Elizabeth - do you hesitate about the openness because it doesn't work as an outdoor coat that way or due to the style of it being open? To me it would be like a longer version of an open cutaway blazer like my Theory Lanai blazer. Just to clarify, I'm not thinking of the navy jacket as an outdoor coat per se - unless it's that warm outside.

Hmmmm...so far no love for the cocoon jacket...

Pretty much what Suz said. My hesitation on the coat would be the openness of it... never did really understand that concept.

Yeah, that cocoon jacket is a tough call isn't it? And although I agree that the shoulders themselves do not have structure (they are indeed sloping), this is why I would need to add the structure via other elements in the outfit - i.e. slim fitting bottom (whether that be skinnies or tube skirt), pointy shoes, angular clutch, etc.

I love the citron moto for you if the colour works close to your face. The second jacket is tough for me to judge without seeing it on. This is a really difficult style for me to wear, personally, so while I like it in theory, I am wary of it. In terms of your desire for structure, I am not sure this jacket will provide it. The shoulder looks sloping.

Love the new blouse!
