I just had the best time looking through everyone’s Finds without looking at your names. Some I could recognize as a signature style.

Here are my ruffles, flounces and puffs. For the blue and white boho top, I cut the neckline ruffle off.

Thanks for the thread, everyone! It quite cheered me up about my own ruffles, puffs and tiers. Only one is ditsy, an old prairie dress. The rest are either solids or moody prints.

Thanks for this thread Suntiger. It has been so interesting to see these frills, flounces, tiers, exuberant sleeves, ditsy florals etc together and realise how many ways we can wear and interpret them.

I feel the next trend will be more graphic 60s inspired, straighter lines, shorter skirts along with tailoring and wide long trousers (this is already here).

I have nary a flounce, ruffle, or puff in my closet, and since I prefer LARGE florals, no “ditsy” to speak of. My closet is getting a little staid and I’m looking for something to shake it up.

This is really interesting -- to see how we've all adopted or adapted the trend to work within our overall style preferences. I love that term "ditsy-adjacent" -- gave me my laugh of the day. I think I can handle ditsy-adjacent prints much more than full on dits. My ditsy adjacent print is the paint splatter top from Sandwich. It also has a tiny tiny ruffle at the neckline.

Everything else is "tier adjacent" or "ruffle adjacent" -- the skirts are not tiered but the first one has a band at the bottom and an asymmetrical pleat while the second is gored, so it is flippy. The dresses have hi-low hems and flared skirts. The tops have peplum bottoms, like a ruffle, in a way.

That's about as girly as it gets in these parts....

This is such a fun gallery of exuberance! I wish I could join in with pics but I'm traveling right now. My carry-on contains tops with ruffles, ditz, tiers, and a new top that has very extreme sleeves that contain both wide ruffles AND tiers.

Puffed sleeves make my shoulders look too wide and ruffles or ruffled layers usually look too juvenile or overwhelming on an over 70, 5’3” person. So I own nothing frilly, so I don’t say never.

Looks like you are team solid flounce.

I am on team tiered skirt. I treat them as everyday skirts. I like the length and volume for sun coverage, ventilation and ease of walking. Most of mine are workhorses. But I would like more variety in styles of long skirt. Asymmetrical skirts are still my fave and nothing beats my Allsaints Rhea skirts (which are not tiered). But I have managed to find some asymmetrical tiered skirts.

I like puffed sleeves in theory but in reality find them a bit much on me, especially with more voluminous skirts. I tend to prefer a fitted top over volume. I have 2 older tops with lantern sleeves, which I still like, but I don’t think I will add more.

Here are my pieces - only one ditsy floral - I do live this blouse with denim or shorts.

This is a fair representation of my collection — as you can see, I prefer to keep them subtle or low-profile. Sometimes I’m willing to accept one of these ruffles or tiered styles because the other details speak to me, even though they’re not my favorite part of the garment. And I have to be in the right mood to wear them, and style them carefully.

I had a brown skirt like the black one some years ago that I wore a lot. Wish I knew what the style was called. Sometimes I've seen it with patchwork fabrics, at festivals and hippie shops, but that's too folksy for me.
I agree with your comment SF about how the disty prints can be a false plain, depending on color of course. I do have this ditsy adjacent silk sari skirt

Lovely items ST. I think the fact that yours drape very nicely and are solid colors make them so dignified and elegant. I love that skirt especially with the diagonal tiers, it’s so unique.
And Angie’s are perfect for her style, as they are somewhat structured and playful and refined all at once.
I have been wearing bell sleeves for many years and will never give them up.
They go in and out of fashion over and over again. I am so glad we are in the age of DYOT.

Yep definitely seeing the ruffly things all together in shops is overwhelming. Sooo many times I've just walked in a shop and mentally said "nope" straightaway :/
The combination of light color + puff sleeve + ditsy floral + ruffles all on one garment too. A ditsy floral dress in a simple shape, fine. A puffed sleeve in a deep color like Angie's, sure. Unfortunately most shops have just the OTT versions. So-a lot more of my shopping has been consignment this year instead!

Nice items! You like these trends in small doses, Suntiger :)

JAileen and Rachy, make good points.

Again, the point is not the trends themselves - it's the overkill of them. Retail does this all the time! Over the decades, the industry has saturated the market with items likes skinnies, black & grey, cropped pants, shoulder pads, high heels, low rises, oversized tops, pencil skirts, neon, Athleisure, earth tones, sleeveless dresses, too short tops, too tight tops.....and the list goes on!

Personally, I fancy a bit of puff, frill, flounce, smock, and tier! Reminds me of the '70s and '80s - which I love. The pretty vibe is always represented in some way in my wardrobe. So half of these items are old. Here are mine:

These are lovely pieces. I think the solid colors look elegant and refined, compared to many of the prints I have been seeing.

Oh I forgot about bell sleeves. I have a dress with them in a paisley. Yours is not juvenile at all. I think some of the details Angie mentioned can be too much when combined with prints. It’s the overall look. And that’s why the prints alone are okay in my wardrobe.

I have a few bell sleeves too. I think also because they're dark colours, they're not too twee.

So even though I am not usually a big fan of ruffles, flounces and puffs, these are really cool pieces and I can see why you chose them. These are more classic than trendy.
