I'm a huge fan of jeans and wear them daily. I don't mind the looser fit in #2, but you can always try a longer top where the flowy look will be more deliberate to the eye. Also curved and handkerchief hemlines are fun looks that require no tucking.

I'm a big fan of bootcut jeans too, and wider crops are really hard for me to get behind as a petite.

Jane- Thanks so much! I learned the pendant trick here on YFL, although looking at the pics, I might want it a little longer? The turquoise sweater is my purchase from my MIL's birthday money - she always says she likes me in that color too, so I looking for it more.

Joy - Thank you for the suggestion and the boost! - I tried it out and posted - I think I like it, although as a confirmed untucker I have no belts, and had to dig out a 20 year old navy one from my serious corporate days (I shudder to think about what I looked like in my navy suits and white blouses!). I have been loving your outfits, so good to know we share some body type characteristics.

JAileen - We can stretch together! I have not been an ankle shower, but I am going to try (once spring comes in June - it is snowing again here at Lake Tahoe, adding to 8 feet of snow still on the ground in my yard). And I need the right footwear for it. Although I'm kind of excited to see bootcut a bit more in the stores.

Angie - I really appreciate the feedback, and thanks for the approval on the white jeans. I have to overcome the skin showing phobia, but I think the light shoe suggestion will help (a major wardrobe hole - I will need a separate post to tap the YFL wisdom on my fussy, wide ball, narrow heel with pump bump feet!). I will see if I can let down the hem on the Logans without a line, or find a lower heel to wear them with. I have to learn to semi-tuck without feeling too self conscious - not done much in my casual mountain town. But nothing ventures, nothing gains, and I can always untuck!

Everyone - so helpful!!! I really appreciate all the advice and comments. I realized I don't really have a good source of feedback - DH tries, but his comments can be utilitarian - and sometime I need form over function.

Karen, it's hard to see all that accurately but the Logans in #1 look a little short to my eye. Nice fit though. Glad they are comfy.

The jeans in #3 look good. Try semi tucking the top, and adding a belt.

WOW. Nice alteration on the white jeans. Well done. The outfit needs light shoes, and a slither of skin to show at the ankle. You might need to hem them shorter too.

#5 looks good. Try a roll at the hem. I quite like the shoes, but don't think they work with the outfit.

I think you look great in all of these. Bootcut jeans are my fallback, too. I really want to wear my loafers and oxfords so I'm stretching a little, and I ordered some ankle jeans. We'll see how they work out. I'm a pear and generally get curvy fit pants for the smaller waist to hips ratio.

You look wonderful. My body is much like yours, except more rectangle than hourglass, but the strong shoulder line and short waist. I love the semi tuck and usually tuck the top into my waist on the right side and let the front and back form diagonal lines to the loose end of the top on the left side. With this one sees a bit of waist. I used to tuck tops but try to wear a belt the color of the top of close to it so that it made it look like my waist was a big lower. This can mean a large collection of belts but is visually effective for lowering the waist. If a long top is worn out, a belt can be worn loosely to hang lower in front, disguising where the waist really is. You are building a good collection of jeans.
I cannot see the 5th photo when I click on it.

Great looks!

The white jeans are super, and I like the way you've styled them, especially the colours and the pendant. I really like the turquoise colour in 1 on you.

Angie's post is so timely for me as I bought a lot of jeans lately. I lost 20 pounds, and am trying to modernize, with baby steps. I have 20 years of only dark wash bootcut behind me. I'm trying to get comfortable with wider, cropped, cuffing and boyfriend styling.

1-2 only slightly outside my comfort zone with a wider leg - Banana Republic Logan trouser cut, still dark wash. I feel very comfortable in these. I sent the Petite back for a size down in Short - Short is 1/2 inch longer per CS and my measurements - despite the website saying the are the same length. I'm short waisted sometime regular rise fits fine.

3-My wheelhouse - Hudson Signature Bootcut Petites from eBay, no find

4 - Macy's Style & Co Boyfriend hugely outside my comfort zone - I haven't worn white jeans since college. I saw these at Macy's in San Francisco on Black Friday but they only had larger sizes. Finally a pair 2 size too big came on clearance for $17 so I attempted a first for me extreme alteration. I took ogg the back half of the waistband and took in the sides to the knee by 2 inches, but mostly from the back panels so I would not mess up the embroidery. I was taking in at the back would put the pocket too close together and would leave the sides to baggy. Now they aren't tight on my calves (my current fit problem) and are comfy and make me smile. I get compliments when I wear them. Not sure I'd try the alteration again but since it was cream top stitching, it turned out pretty well.

5 - Macy's Style and Co Curvy Boyfriend light wash boyfriend are both new for me. Since I like the experiment with #4, I just got these. The print echoes the embroidery trend I am loving but is a bit more subtle. I have the misses version in the regular size coming to compare with this (the petite). But I like them so far. What do you think about the shoes? I am on the fence.

No pics yet of the straight leg Levi (a steal at Sierra Trading Post but not on their website), but it might be my version of skinny for now.

How does one avoid the maternity look for tops like in #2? I am emphatically not a tucker because of the short waist but yuck! And what do you do to keep your jeans waist band from poking though on more fitted tops?

Angie and YFL have freshly diagnosed me as a straighter hourglass with strong shoulder line, maybe secondary slight IT. Coment and suggestion welcome!
Thanks -Karen
