Suz, I still have the puffer, ready to go back to the store. I'll PM you.

Elle, there's hope, eh? Although the designer for the new company is now designing the Mycra Pac line as well, so who knows if we'll recognize it.

Janet, I thought you were getting the puffer, too. Sorry to hear it didn't work out, but as you point out, we can use the money elsewhere. Gorgeous velour hoodie! It looks very lush.

Firecracker - I'm so happy to hear that Mycra Pac was bought. I went to their retirement sale last December, bought a yellow slicker, and thought that was the end.

Love the white slicker!!! I'm wondering if part of the reason the puffer isn't working for you is due to your longer hair. If your hair were as short as Angie's or were put up, that big collar might work for you a little better. Of course, longer hair is better when it's cold. . .I love white soled shoes but wonder if dirty soles would bother me. . .

I like the slicker on you, and I'm kinda digging those thick-soled sneakers. Hmm. Filing that idea away for springtime.

I tried the S&K puffer, and it was just plain too big on me (the XL was supposed to be like an 8-10 and it was definitely too big -- long in the waist and too bulky all over). The collar wasn't really a problem -- I guess my neck is *just* long enough. But as lovely as it is, it just feels too puffy for my preference, so I'm actually happy to not spend the money on it.

However, I did order a teal velour hoodie, and I may need to keep that.

Sharan, is the puffer black or ink? If ink, have you sent it back? (You see, my first order of business is a selfish one...I have been hunting for it for myself and would take it off your hands if right size and colour!)

Onto the other items, which are spectacular on you! LOVE. I would really like the slicker for myself as well. I'm going to do a search on it. I love that it is white and grey!!

Also love the shoes. Fun idea to add white soles to them and they look great with the slicker.

And can I just tell you again that I love your hair? It's looking wonderful at this longer length.

Tee hee, Rachylou! Good idea. I would like a hood, though. The reason I thought I could use a puffer is for cold, wet days waiting for the bus, and I do like my hoods for wet weather! But I'm getting into hats now a little bit, and if it's really raining, I will carry an umbrella, too.

I love love love the white reversible rain coat! You are right. It would be perfect for a trip. I'm not sure about the puffer. I want it to work for you but the neck does seem too high. How you feel in it is the decider. ( Ack! That sounds like a Bushism). I vote keep the platforms. Fun.

Thank you, Sally!
UmmLila, glad to hear I'm in good company in the short-neck club. Those shoes you picked are really cute.
Delurked, thanks!
Elle, I'm bummed! I didn't know that Mycra Pac was going out of business.
Anne, thanks for the suggestion. That one looks nice.
Unfrumped, I agree with you about the dark navy color, too. I have a navy trench coat that I like, but the shade is a tad lighter. In person, I don't think the white jacket is too bright for me. I lightened the photos a bit before posting. In real life, it is a slightly off white, which appeals to me more than bright white.
Shevia, I'm loving all the platforms that I'm seeing in the stores. You may "need" a pair.

I love the white raincoat on you! Perfect! The puffer is great but the neck is too high and it looks uncomfortable on you. On another note, I have also been extremely attracted to platform shoes lately. I think I am feeling stompy.

I agree about puffer. You can do better on neckline. I also vote against dark
navy. I think you look Fabber in your medium murky colors- something Olivey or plummy or Taupey.

I might be an outlier on the white jacket. Not sure I would keep due to the nearly optic white. However I understand that clever designs are appealing and hard to come by and the fit is very good.
But, I have become very color- palette focused for myself as a way of getting happy face colors and also as a boundary against too many options that have some appeal!

Yep, the neck overwhelms. I have this Patagonia parka (in navy) that, when worn unzipped a bit, offers a bit of framing around the neck/face, but not as overwhelming as Angie's. The framing comes from the tucked/disguised hood. I haven't used the hood, so I don't know how the neckline changes if it's unrolled, but maybe it's an option? It's quite slimming, too.

http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/pa.....rdsearch-p

This parka can be found on other websites, but I like the Nordstrom photos, even though they're out of most sizes.

Love the Mycra Pac on you! I have a slight preference for the white side but the gray looks good too. Wear it with a scarf if you don't like the color near your face. It's a great brand (I have two of their raincoats) Unfortunately, they retired and closed the business last December.

I agree with the others on the puffer - the neck seems to overwhelm you (it's the coat not you).

I was tempted by that coat, but also have a short neck. It's too bad because the rest of it looks great on you. I ordered a pair of Cole Haan white soled oxfords (with a black floral upper) yesterday and am looking forward to see how they work out as a spring walking shoe.

Thanks, Angie. Yes, I thought the neckline is not a good fit for me. It looks fantastic on you. Cute sneaks! You got both the fur-lined and plain ones?
I searched all over for a link for the slicker, but couldn't find it anywhere. I got it at a local boutique.

LOVE the white and grey slicker. Can you provide a link, Sharan? KILLER on you. Super cute sneaks too.

I like the fit of the puffer on the body, but it's overwhelming your neck - and the inner isn't even fully zipped up. I vote return.

For interest sake, here's the same puffer in ink blue on me - fully zipped up at the neck, WITH A SCARF, and still not overwhelming despite my narrow shoulder line because of my very, very long neck. I hope that helps visually.

No we haven't. But the shoes and the coat are the same two colors - grey and white - made for each other!

Maybe the puffer isn't right? Too puffy, neck too tall, too expensive. As I said I can't tell, but that's what you're saying.

I had a down bathrobe that was unquestionably warm, but too tall around my neck. I donated it last week..

JAileen, thanks for your thoughts! The slicker side of the jacket doesn't feel bad against my skin; it's a slick polyester rather than a plastic or rubber feel. I lightened the photos as much as I could, but I know the details don't come out well on the puffer. It feels very puffy, and I'm not sure about the collar for short-necked me. Also not sure I really need this style of coat. It's still quite an expense on sale.

Oh, and have you or I met a pair of pewter shoes we don't like?

I love the shoes and I love the raincoat. They're both cute, and cute together. I would never wear the raincoat white side in, though. Is the plastic/vinyl/whatever comfortable against your neck or wrist? It doesn't seem like it would be. But I encourage bright raincoats for safety. Double points if the raincoats are bright and cute.

I can't really see the other coat very well. What is it you're not sure about?

I really like Angie's Soia and Kyo puffer coat, and when she showed it on sale recently, I decided to give it a try. It arrived today, amid snow flurries!
As much as I love the coat, I am not sure it's right for me. I'm showing it here (photos 1 and 2) and would welcome your thoughts on keeping or returning.

The other photos are a couple of things I bought this weekend--with Spring in mind!--and plan to keep.

First is something I was not looking for, but rather, a logical impulse buy. It's a reversible slicker by Mycra Pac, a slick white rain jacket on one side and quilted light-gray knit on the other. This heather light gray is not a color I really like to wear, but I will probably wear the white side most often (living in a rainy city). And yet, I as many of you probably know by now, I do love clothing that can be worn more than one way! So I like having the gray side as an option. It makes for a perfect travel companion, don't you think?

Second is a pair of pewter oxfords with a white platform sole. I have been thinking of getting a pair of platform sneakers or oxfords, with a white sole, for spring and summer. I tried on several contenders and ended up with these Steve Madden platform oxfords. They are a little stiff, but reasonably comfortable. I had to size up a half size from the larger of two shoe sizes I usually wear. I also tried on some adorable thick-soled sneakers by Steve Madden, Vince, and AGL, but decided the oxfords were more my style. I will say that there is a big difference in comfort level between the Steve Madden and the Vince shoes. If I had loved the look of the Vince shoes on my feet, I would have splurged for them, as the feel is divine. I also found the Vince more comfy than the AGL. But just comfortable enough (a new term, anyone? JCE!), at a much lower price, won the day.

Thanks for looking! I welcome your thoughts on the Soia & Kyo coat and any other comments you'd like to share.
