If it isn't broken, don't fix it. The 1st version of the outfit, untucked, was great. No changes needed.

I do like semi-tucks, but lately I have been doing a... let's call it an alternative version of the semi-tuck. I do it on the side, creating a cascading effect from the side of my body to the front (sometimes a pin will help me achieving this cascade effect) or I tuck the back of the shirt (completely), but leave the front untucked. This second version works better if the top is roomy and not too long (I came up with it for disliking the pipping out of a light shirt under a leather jacket; now I've done with sweater sans jacket just for comfort purposes.)
I am not convinced on the semi tuck with this outfit. I think 1 is fantastic on you - I love the maxi skirt and your hair is divine!

Honestly, like Tracy, this is a reason why I just don't semi-tuck.

I agree with the idea to semi-tuck either higher on the waist with a structured waistband, or lower under a belt and pants.

Honestly, this is why I rarely semi-tuck - I think it emphasizes my tummy in a way I don't like. Even when the straight-on view in a mirror might be OK, as you move and turn everyone's eye is naturally drawn to the tucked-in part and then down to the sticky-out bits.
Hee, you reminded me that last week, I was wearing a blousy top semi-tucked into really low-rise BF jeans. We were somewhere really windy and J. took a photo of me from the side, looked at it on his camera replay, and burst out laughing because my shirt was billowing out in a way that made it look exactly like I was 6 months pregnant over the waistband of the jeans. You'd better believe I untucked the top after that!

Anyway, my point is that the location of the waistband matters when you do the semi-tuck. Mine happened to be low enough that it would have been just below a pregnant belly, apparently. A higher waistband would have solved the problem. Maybe a lower one too - you could also try Angie's faux semi-tuck where she tucks the top into the belt, so it's really low.
I think you look fine, but I think this skirt has the wrong sort of waistband for semi-tuck. Not enough structure. I'd do a semi-tuck with a belt with this skirt.
I actually prefer it untucked in this case. Given that you don't like your side view, I'd suggest low-slung tucking, so that the "blousing" of the shirt hides any "side view issues". If it was a shorter skirt, I'd suggest just pulling it down so that it sits on your hips, rather than your waist, then trying the semi tuck. Absolutely love the combination! I'm sorry that I missed your original post! (Off to look now!)

I think it looks better in pic one. I think there can be the same issue with hi low hems. I haven't even tried semi tucks yet - I don't think they are for everyone.
Hil, the dark colors make it a little hard to see what's going on. But I know I haven't always been happy with the side view of my semi tuck, either.

A couple of weeks ago I posted a WIW and someone suggested that I try a semi tuck... which I did try when I repeated the outfit today.

#1 is from the original post
#2 is the semi tuck
#3 is the side view

The side view is what worries me!!!! Should I learn to ignore or is skimming over it with the top a better option?
