Sharan, thank you so, so dearly <3 My heart glows from all your kind compliments <3 I'm hopeful to try both pairs of boots. Not sure if I'll be able to nab them before the sales end. (Both are on sale this week; everyone is doing their own version of Prime Days it seems.) Either way, hoping to get them soon. My winter wardrobe could use another pair or two of shoes, tbh. As for knitting -- I do have more planned, so I will post when I get some things finished. I am taking a little detour to knit knit my nieces' sweaters for Christmas gifts. I'm still planning to try my hand at knitting yet this year! I know you sew and it would be fun to share some sewn items here too.

I'm impressed with your thoughtful analysis and planning. The Pinterest boards are a treat to see, and I can envision it all on you. The pieces you've already assembled look fantastic. I like those western-inspired boots you proposed, as well as the suede wedges. Both styles would be good additions for where you're headed. Your hand-knit pieces are always standouts and look gorgeous on you. I think you've got great intuition for choosing the designs and yarns, and your talent is simply amazing.

Bijou, thank you so, so dearly! I am really loving my personal colors and translating them into each clothing season. Also -- yes to dressing up for casual events! Even wearing casual things, I kind of zhuzh it up. Might be a slouchy tee and joggers, but I have on jewelry and makeup, little flats and a hair scarf to boot. :] Maybe we should attend a book group together I am really looking forward to knitting more of my own wardrobe. Can't wait to share more about it as it slowly comes together.

Robin, thank you so much! I do feel brown is my neutral. It feels easy and I think it will really blend well with everything I own.

Suz, so many good things I'm making a whole reply to you! Wow, thank you! I really love fall and fall colors, and fall clothing. That said, I didn't get into the mood for fall wardrobe planning quite as early as previous years. Planning my spring/summer wardrobe and actually wearing it a whole month before planning for autumn is a win for me haha!

I really appreciate hearing your lovely feedback about my style and mood boards. Thank you <3 I once followed a stylist/influencer Hilary Rushford that called it "cranberry vodka" dressing. It was her way of mixing glamour and grit, or modern and vintage. Anyway, I hear what you're saying and it really resonates with me. I think my issue is sometimes I get a little too deep in my head, and most times I do better when I dress more from mood and heart.

I ordered flares again from City Chic. Another pair and style. I didn't size up. It was a hard decision to make. I am not sure what to expect. Also ordered wide leg jeans from them. Those could be great or a disaster. I will report back!

Textured knits.. I've really, really been wondering how those work for me. I will make a new post about it! I think it can be textured but still must be soft and drapey... and a lot of cabled designs I love are more stiff, crisp, etc.

As for dressing up, I really wish we did more stay-home date nights. We just celebrated 10 years. Life has been really bumpy and painful the last couple years. Sometimes the magic feels a bit buried? I love your idea to dress up for a date-night or meal at home. I will have to try this!!!

Carol, thanks for the great recommendation!! I will keep them on my radar and see what they have!

Lise, ooooo!!! I totally see what you mean. I am so, so glad you're experimenting with colors. I think I've mentioned I was a winter for about 10 years. I felt so uncomfortable. Earthy colors have made me a lot happier. PS I just love your hair color so much!

Angie, I love that it can work, thank you for a lovely reminder. I think as I settle more into Relaxed Boho Chic with Glam and Gritty it will all fall into place. In fact, my recent jungle green outfit was a result of curation AND mood. Will share the jeans when they arrive (also snagged a wide leg pair) and look more into the boots!

Love the idea of glam and grit - one tones down the other to make for a perfect complement. And brown as your neutral seems like a slam dunk.

I'm like Suz, I dress up even when not required. Like going to a friend's house for book club. I could wear jeans and a sweater, but since I can wear something a bit more polished without looking strange, I go for it!

Your colour palette is fabulous and shows how your wardrobe is really developing. Being able to make custom knits as hero pieces really gives you the ability to have unique and beautiful items in your wardrobe. It's so fun to go on this style journey with you.

I love your mood boards! And I am IMPRESSED with your advance planning. Wow. I have in no way got that far in my own thinking about the coming season....

The thing is, you have really nailed your style and the mood boards are beautifully illustrative of both where you are and where you want to be. Angie nailed it with her great description -- add a bit more grit if you are feeling too "dressy" and a bit more "glam" when you are feeling too casual or blah...and there you are!

I'm convinced flares will work for you when you find the right ones. I also love wide legs on you and all manner of dresses/ boho tops and of course your amazing texture rich knits.

Like others, I hear you on the rarity of true dress up occasions...I dress up to go to the dentist, LOL. And also for at-home "date nights" with Mr. Suz when our kid is not at home and we are eating on our own. :) We pretend we are going out to a fancy restaurant.

Second, the flared jeans look promising! Fingers crossed. The two pairs of western boots show grit and potential! I like the last pair of dressier boots too. And brown loves you right back.

Jaime, thank you <3 "...choosing is personal style." So well said! I will keep choosing! And share my choices back here ;)

Lise, thank you!! I really so appreciate the feedback. My heart is a boho heart, and really always has been. I like some glam and need it, but boho is where I'm happiest.

cat2, thank you, re: color palette. And extra thanks for this lovely bit of wisdom and reassurance: Don’t worry about the pieces that didn’t quite work; as you add other pieces a restyling will come to you. <3

Sal, not late at all in my books I love your input! My career and meeting/office days are long gone now--about 9 years. I enjoy getting dressed up and miss it. But really, other than church, I actually don't have much need or call to dress-up much. And.. that's okay. I like a sensual version of casual. A sweatshirt or sweater that barely slips off the shoulder or hugs the waist is its own form of goodness.

Angie, I am blushing! Thank you for your applause. I didn't think about how the no's make for yes's. That is very wise and helpful. And I heartily appreciate your feedback and suggestions! So thank you!! I do agree with you. Relaxed boho-chic (with touches of glam and grit) is really where I am happiest and most comfortable. I keep seeing it as I explore and experiment, and see it now after my summer deep-dive in more glamour.

Glam: I have another pair of flare jeans ordered to try, see photo. Hopefully the flare width and fabric and fit will all be better than the last pair. I do agree that my makeup and jewelry add glam. I have been wanting to add a lace-edged camisole actually! So I will be doing that.

Grit: BROWN is my very favorite. (Black has always felt a bit harsh.) What do you think of either of these boots? They're more grit than I have been choosing and yet... I feel like they could be very fun!I'm also looking at a chocolate wedge bootie.

Lisa, I dress up for grocery shopping, church, etc. I kind of like it most of the time; then other times I feel I'm overdoing it ha! "Just because it's in the stores doesn't mean I need to own a lot of it." That's very well said! I think for me, I've been trying to get away from jeans when, in fact, jeans are probably more of staple for me than I realize. The black and orange pair of wide-leg resort pants I got have been worn a ton. They're causal enough to work beautifully dressed up or down. Thank you for your kind words about my fall color scheme. I'm excited about it. :D

Bonnie, thank you so dearly! I appreciate your encouragement.

Lise, I too am a mood dresser! I kind of wonder if that's another reason my very curated wardrobe didn't quite hit it for me?? Thanks for the boho feedback. I think in my heart I am boho. Glamorized but boho nonetheless. It feels like home. I didn't realize my autumn colors were your summer colors! :D

Dee, I can be horrible about fantasy outfits and purchases, so I'm hearing you! Being a stay-at-home mother means less occasion for dressy outfits. I will wear my dressier clothes to church or even grocery shopping, and mom group dinners. But otherwise, it can get too fussy for everyday. And really, I enjoy being active, picking up my chickens, and the life.

Carol, I haven't seen Network. I googled her costuming for it though and it's so 70s dreamy! I will have to watch it. I actually just purchased a cropped trench coat. Will post about it soon and see what you think! We do have the same AND flats I have found them to be pretty comfortable, but I can see a heel insert being extra helpful. They're comfortable for an hour or two of shopping, but not for miles and miles. Thank you for all your encouraging and lovely comments about my A/W wardrobe. I can SOOO see you in the green sweater dress! Maybe you can find one for this autumn and we can be twins? :D

Your color palette is lovely. Don’t worry about the pieces that didn’t quite work; as you add other pieces a restyling will come to you.

I like the idea of using the boards as inspiration but choosing pieces that feel right rather than exactly replicate these items. I think that choosing is personal style. Love Angie's suggestions too as food for thought!

Well done, Ket! You did some soul searching - which makes for effective analysis. GOOD JOB! Listening to your feelings is honest, and the best way to evolve your style to its next level of fabness. I'm impressed!

Soooooo, FWIW, I see "relaxed boho-chic with a touch of glam and grit" as signature and natural for your style. You tried amping up the dressy glam, which looked great - but felt off. Lesson learned. You need the no's to confirm the yes's!

Your existing wardrobe creates a strong starting point for your aspirational style.

My suggestions:

GLAM- you have this covered with the way you style your pretty hair, apply make-up, and wear jewellery daily Maybe a bit of lace peeking through the top of a neckline in the form of a camisole. And full length flared or wide leg jeans.

GRIT - there is room to add some gritty footwear! In BROWNS, not black. Casual. Maybe even western boots with a lower heel. Great with skirts and dresses too. And some slouchy up top! Semi-tucked for structure since you enjoy a bit of waist definition.

Have you seen Network? Besides being one of the best movies of all time, it makes trench coats seem relevant, and Faye Dunaway is a dream in drapery taupe.

I see the brown A New Day flats that I have...you may have mentioned that you also got those. Mine could use...some work in the comfort dept., but maybe with a heel insert.

I think all this stuff is great, and I would wear any of it in a heartbeat. I admire the time and effort you put in to making a cohesive mood/season. My favorite that I would wear would be the green sweater dress, and I also think you have a good curation of floral dresses.

You're comment "Too dressy despite looking nice" really resonated with me too. I also have some wonderful dressier outfits but no occasions to really wear them, it's really a fantasy wardrobe at this point, so I feel no need to add anything more like this.

Looks like you have lots of fab items in your wardrobe already that resemble your fall mood boards which are lovely and a great jumping off point to achieve any of these style vibes. Should be fun pulling it all together when the cooler weather comes. Right now I'm really enjoying summer dressing, I haven't thought too much about fall just yet.

Ooh your colours are my summer ones autumnised. A little boho in your outfits really works for you. I get it about not copying outfits verbatim. I am very much a mood dresser and come up with outfits on the fly (some more successful than others), same when I am cooking. I don't enjoy following a recipe, but must have suitable ingredients on hand :). I like your mood boards. I haven't given autumn any thought yet.

"Too dressy despite looking nice" really resonates for me. I adore dressier outfits, but my lifestyle is very casual and I just don't get a lot of use out of the dressier items. Sometimes I will go to the grocery store in a dressy outfit just so I have an excuse to wear something nice! I have definitely been the only person in the store sporting a blazer or nice trousers sometimes.

For summer wardrobes, I noticed for myself it's been very easy to accumulate resort wear because it's the dominant offerings in most summer collections. But it doesn't fit my current lifestyle well (I'm not on holiday everyday). I've had to be mindful of how much resort wear I add. Just because it's in the stores doesn't mean I need to own a lot of it.

You've got a strong start to your F/W wardrobe. The browns, burgundy's olives, and rust are lovely colors together. I'm looking forward to NAS to start updating my F/W wardrobe.

I learned some valuable lessons from this spring/summer's wardrobe. This is the first year that I used a Pinterest moodboard to design my entire summer wardrobe. I will post a summary at the end of summer. But the biggest lesson thus far: some of it has just felt too dressy despite looking very nice. And I very much miss some bohemian influences in my clothes. Most of my S/S was more "dolce vita", 50s, and resort wear. I love it, but feeling a bit bored. It's missing some juiciness? Grit? IDK... something.

So, as I plan for my autumn/winter wardrobe, I realize I need a bit of edge and artsy to my outfits to feel like myself. If it's too glamorous, without some boho or artsy to contrast it, I start to feel a bit stiff and buttoned-up.

My inspiration for this upcoming season are three veins:
1970s Glam https://www.pinterest.com/keturahy/aw-70s-glam/
Modern Outlander https://www.pinterest.com/ketu.....outlander/
Modern Luxe https://www.pinterest.com/keturahy/aw-modern-luxe/

I feel there is both crossover and variety between the three boards. I'm not looking to replicate these styles/boards verbatim. (Doing that with my S/S kind of killed the magic and joy in the end.) I'm simply choosing the pieces or vibes that make my heart feel good, rather than forcing it to BECOME SOMETHING. If that makes sense.

Colors https://www.pinterest.com/keturahy/aw-colors/

I'm kind of envisioning wine and deep red, cooler pine green, warmer olive and forest green, cream, camel, whiskey, chocolate, warm charcoal, and a bit of turmeric gold and burnt orange.

Fabric inspiration is stripes, lace, tweed, herringbone, and tartan. Knits. Denim. Chiffon. Satin.

I've purchased several things for A/W already. New items include:
Chocolate peplum moto jacket

Olive tunic-length jacket
70s inspired high-neck blouses
Midi-length chunky cardigans in pine and gold
Sweater dresses in cream and wine
Sweaters in wine and a '70s striped affair

Slim black knit pants
Paisley 70s inspired maxi dress
Whiskey gold pointy toe suede flats

Everything else below is from past seasons.

I would really love to add some slouchy tees; a slouchy sweater; a maxi-length, red tartan skirt; a slouchy button-up shirt; a turtleneck; another pair or two of pants. We'll see what my remaining budget and time allow. I really don't have any edgy hipster boho in the mix yet. That's where I think the aforementioned could shake it up a bit.

Note about my handknit pieces. Most of the hand knits in Finds haven't been made yet--best of intentions here. I'm looking forward to trying to knit at least 2-3 of them, as I have the time and energy. There are a couple of pieces in the works that aren't pictured below, though. Those will be to come.
