<p>lisap: Thank you. I wish I had a leather jacket but I do have several pattern scarves I can try. </p>
<p>shevia: Thank you. I will wear it with the coat and am getting more great options that I am anxious to try.</p>
<p>Fashintern: Thank you. Wasn't today's post just perfect with lots of fab fall ideas. I really like the blue jacket idea.</p>
<p>Inge: Thank you. These are wonderful ideas. I'm starting to think of the dress as a layering dress, it is by Gudrun Sjoden just like your links, and I do have black pattern tights, colorful Docs, patterned tees, and pants I could cuff. I'm getting excited to make it work. I'll post again after my next styling session.</p>
<p>nemosmom: Thank you. I do have a chunky crew neck sweater in light gray I could try. It could look perfect with my gray pattern scarf.</p>
<p>All: I went through my finds a found these items I can try. Something is bound to work. Thanks for all of your help.</p>

<p>I love the warm cardigan with it (perfectly timed with Angie's blog post today!) and I like your boots in 2/3. I can't remember how much structure you look for in an outfit, but what about a chunky crew neck pullover sweater <i>over</i> it and a scarf?&nbsp; With a slip and tights it could be cozy in colder weather.</p>

<p><div>I too like all three iterations here, Bonnie, and great suggestions from other Fabbers.</div><div><br /></div><div>A few other things you could try (one at a time, or a combination of several:-) Not sure if all the proportions will work, but only one way to find out, right;-)</div><div><br /></div><div>- black or navy patterned hosiery + the boots you're wearing here or knee-high boots, or oxfords or sneakers.</div><div><br /></div><div>- layer over a denim jacket or sleeveless denim vest.</div><div><br /></div><div>- add an artsy scarf (maybe worn infinity style).</div><div><br /></div><div>- I also like the idea of layering under (if that feels comfortable) with a turtleneck tee (blue for a tonal look or any complementary colour for a contrasting look, e.g. purple, burgundy, cognac, mustard, teal, fuchsia, greens). A patterned tee would be fun too for a spot of pattern mixing. Or layer under a button-down for a dressier look.</div><div><br /></div><div>- Wear a fluid fit sweater over the dress? Short sleeves or 3/4-length sleeves. Could be a solid blue, or even a subtle pattern. <a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.pinterest.com/pin/334392341079027892/">Something to this effect</a> (not a dress, but you get the idea).</div><div><br /></div><div>- Pair with light wash or mid-wash blue skinny jeans and oxfords or sneakers. Or even white skinnies with white sneaks.</div><div><br /></div><div>- Or straight leg jeans with a big cuff + sneakers or oxfords.</div><div><br /></div><div>- Suede or (p)leather leggings + sneakers or oxfords.</div><div><br /></div><div>- Corduroy blazer for a casual look or a dressier blazer.</div><div><br /></div><div>- Oh and have a look on their website for examples of how they pair dresses with either tonal hosiery and footwear (<a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.gudrunsjoden.com/nl-be/kleding/jurk-tunieken/product-85801-wijndruif-l">the burgundy and blue versions here</a>) or hosiery in a contrasting colour and footwear in the same colour as the dress (<a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.gudrunsjoden.com/nl-be/kleding/jurk-tunieken/linnen-jurk-sia-inkt-l">the honey and blue versions here</a>).<br /></div>

<p>#2 is so cute! You could also consider a short jacket as a topper—a bluesy color to match or, in the spirit of today’s post, maybe a warm cognac or spice-colored jacket.

<p>You have done a very good job here. It is a great neutral - you could punch it up with a bright layer or go full neutral as in #3. Now that you have tried it one do you think you will wear it?

<p>Mirjana: Thank you. I like the black coat look, too.</p>
<p>Brooklyn: Thank you. I do have an olive sleeveless vest that I can try. Great idea!</p>
<p>Joy: Thank you. I've never tried Cuddle Duds but I love the name. They might help the clinging problem as well as keep me warm.</p>
<p>Angie: Thank you for encouraging me to ask the Forum for help. They are fantastic!</p>
<p>Staysfit: Thank you. I don't wear jewelry as often where I live now but this is one necklace that I still love to wear.</p>
<p>ChrisM: Thank you. Great idea and why didn't I think of a slip. I don't have one but it may be that I need one.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I know old skool, but are you wearing a slip? Not slip shorts, but at slip - at least half slip. Sometimes that helps with the way a dress hangs...</p>
<p>Love it with the tights and boots!

<p>It looks great as you have styled it. If you need more warmth. Wear long silk or even Cuddle Duds under it. I once had a similar dress that I did this with and it really extended the season..

<p>I think it looks great the way you’ve styled it in 2/3. I think the length of the coat in 3 looks better with the dress than the length of the cardigan in 1. </p>

<p>How is the dress clingy? It does not look that way in the photo. Is the material staticky? If it is, have you tried attaching a safety pin or two on the inside along the bottom hem?

<p>Hi Bonnie</p>
<p>I don't mind how you have styled it....it is quite 1990s so very fashion forward.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Is it winter weight or summer weight?</p>
<p>Would you consider laying a top under it (eg a shirt or a merino)?</p>
<p>What does it look like with tall boots?</p>
<p>And sometimes - it is a sign that it was just not the right one!!</p>

<p>On Angie's Blog yesterday, I mentioned that I have an orphaned midi dress. She suggested that I ask the Forum for help in styling it. I bought it last January and it's a shorter midi length and that may be part of the problem. I would welcome any suggestions you might have. The fabric is a bit clingy which makes it impractical to wear by itself.&nbsp;
