I just never feel like I look as *me* as I want to, somehow. No boots, no cool jackets, no full-length jeans, no layers. It's just hard to find that elusive "edge" in summer. Go too heavily into the denim jean shorts and rock tees, and it looks too juniors. It's too hot to wear jeans here. And I don't look great in oversized, shapeless styles that may lean more architectural, not that I can find that much of that anyway.&nbsp;</p> <p>So I end up doing what I have done here -- pair a pretty conservative item like a midi skirt with a super casual tee and try to pay special attention to footwear and some jewelry. I'm also trying to embrace my natural color and texture in my hair, but I'm still having mixed feelings about it. It's nice to see that many of you here seem to like the new hair! I alternate between looking in the mirror and thinking it looks cool to being taken aback by what seems to be my older sister looking back at me. (No offense meant to my lovely sister, but she's ten years older and sometimes I just see the grey in my hair and all the lines in my face and see "old"). I'm experiencing that disconnect I remember my mom describing -- I feel much younger than I look. Pic 1. I probably wouldn’t wear with a black shirt — too high contrast and chops me up a bit — but just trying on with the tee I’m wearing today. I’m inclined to keep these even if they just get worn around the house — the fit is really good and they are comfortable. They are generously sized — I had plenty of room even in a M. </p> <p>An aside: The tee was a little bit of a mistake — it’s too big. I should have sized down but pulled the tag before I really evaluated it, a rarity for me. I may have it taken in a bit, and the sleeves shortened and angled to make it work better for me. For now I’m just knotting the hem. </p> <p>Pics 2-3 I also got these pants at ON. Sometimes I like to have some lightweight but full length pants, and these were a one-off in the store — probably an online return. A size M Tall which means they’re long but I don’t mind a little scrunch. They’re roomy but I don’t mind a bit of slouch in the summer heat. And they ended up being super cheap so even if I end up using them as pajama pants, it’s all good. I tried cuffing them but the print is only on the outside so it doesn’t look right. I also tried pinning them to see what a cropped length would look like, and I prefer them full-length. </p> <p>Today’s WIW for post office and some necessities: (pics 4-5) black and white Ripskirt, the aforementioned tee (by n:Philanthropy, and a smaller size isn’t even available anymore), the teal “pool slides”, teal Kestenberg backpack, and resin earrings. It’s too hot to do anything more special than this. It’s 89 right now and humid, and it’s been even hotter the past few days. </p>
