The lace is more substantial and not delicate and airy. The delicate lace you are thinking of is usually a Chantilly or Alençon. This is Guipure, which is more heavy and moldable. I made this dress and kind of made up the pattern as I went along. Finding just the right lace was really important to me. I envisioned the dress as simple and sleek, but I wanted it to have a modern quality to it as well. </p> <p>Thank you, Angie!! Ooo! I have titles now too! The fit was very important to me, and I worked really hard to get it as perfect as possible. But tonight my husband and I attended a cocktail party/dinner, and I got my chance to wear my new LBD. Black dresses are pretty hard to photograph, so I attached an extra photo of the fabric. The dress is made out of silk charmeuse and covered with an overlay of lace. I've been hunting for some dress shoes to bookend my hair, but haven't found what I want yet. So, I wore some slingbacks I've had for years. I really enjoyed wearing my new dress and carrying my new clutch!</p> <p>Thank you for taking a look and for any helpful ideas for improvement! </p>
