Whatever it is, it sounds heavenly, I've developed a bit of a tencel addiction because of it's wonderful feel and drapability. Not sure if I should thank you or (jokingly) curse you for bringing cupro to my attention!
I wonder if cupro is environmentally friendly? IIRC, Tencel is because the solvents used in it's production can be recycled.

Thanks for the info. I would probably machine wash it on delicate and then hang it to dry.

My AllSaints shirt is machine-washable, no dryer. Supposedly cupro can be both machine washed and dried, but in browsing various retailers I've also seen it marked dry clean.

The feel of this shirt is far superior to regular rayon, but I'm not in the habit of buying high-end luxury rayon clothing, so maybe it's just a matter of quality.

Is cupro supposed to be superior to regular rayon? Is it machine washable?

Thank you, Laura! I was wondering, since "like tencel" told me it was a type of rayon, but "cotton-like" didn't make sense. Rayons are certainly versatile, aren't they? And usually more pleasant to wear than nylons or polyesters.

Cupro has a totally different handfeel from most US-retail rayon items, to me. It does have a marked similarity to tencel but the drape is slightly different.

Off to ASOS now to see what they have!

I see a fair few things on Asos made from cupro. So that is consistent with what Laura says because they sell a lot of European brands.

Cupro is another name for rayon - or specifically it's a particular way to make rayon, just like tencel is another way. The particular wording 'cupro' seems to be more commonly used in Europe than in North America.

I bought my daughter a burgundy maxi skirt in cupro last year from Zara. I also looked it up because I'd never heard of it. It became one of her favorites.

My favorite CoH jeggings are made of some kind of weird denim-ish material that contains cupro (44% rayon, 29% cotton, 25% cupro, 2% PU). I also have some Paige jeggings in the same fabric. I really like the fabric - it's soft and very stretchy but somehow much less clingy and more silky than polyester-heavy stretch denim. Plus it doesn't itch like poly.

ETA: I haven't seen much clothing with cupro though. Too bad because I like it too. I suspect it's more expensive than other alternatives...

This weekend I stopped in to AllSaints to try on the top/dress/tunic that SarahTheWhite made look so amazing. I left instead with a new top that I adore, for many reasons but the first thing that stopped my wandering hands in their tracks was the fabric.

It's made from cupro, which Google tells me is a synthetic cotton-like fiber similar to tencel. The drape and handfeel are even smoother than tencel, while being weightier and less delicate than silk. I am totally obsessed with this fabric! Unfortunately AllSaints doesn't carry many other pieces in the material. Anyone know where I can source more of this lusciousness in semi-affordable ready-to-wear? The AllSaints top was a splurge for me, more in line with what I usually pay for dresses than for tops.
