Una, in your wildest nightmares you could not be frump!

I'm with you on the "no fuss clothing" need. I made the switch this year from high school reading teacher to elementary school reading teacher, and I now spend my days sitting at pint-sized tables with pint-sized chairs (and I'm 5'8" and all legs). It's no fuss clothing all the way!

Marley, thanks for the honesty! I did worry these are one step from polyester stretch pants. But they look like wool and I'm sick of skinny ponte pants with boots. I need pants that let me wear my shoes now and then. So I'll warn you before posting these again.

I totally get the no fuss - comfort factor. But - I really have poison eye for ponte knit pants that are cut like that - to me, they should be in the dictionary next to the definition of frump. :-) However, your hairstyle, the peek of camo in the top, and mainly, the pewter oxfords are saving this from landing in downtown frumpville-land.

Agreed! I am always trying to get to what I call "comfortable chic" and everyone here has been an inspiration. It is hard to find comfortable things without going across to frumpville. I think you've done it well. The shoes and the details on the cardi keep the style elevated.

I think you could wear a sack with those oxfords and not look frumpy.
Comfort is a must for me too. If it's not comfortable and low maintenance, I simply will not wear it. I definitely think you can not look frumpy and be comfortable. At least that is what I keep telling myself.

Your philosophy = my philosophy. Life is too short to fuss with clothes (e.g. re-tuck/re-adjust one's shirt every time one sits down/stands up/ reaches). At the same time, I want to look good.

Hey, man, my clothes are supposed to work for me, not me for them...

p.s. Your outfit isn't frumpy, but I agree that really comfy clothes can feel a little frumpy for some strange reason.

Dear Una, you couldn't look frumpy if you tried! The camo/animal print and those gorgeous oxfords are not granny clothes. I wore out my NYDJ Ponte pants last fall/winter. I think they were Angie recommended, or maybe it was Marianne.

I see no frump. The shoes definitely rock. I am losing patience with clothes that need to be fussed with too. I wore a drape neck tee a couple of weeks ago that tends to slide down on the shoulders -- even fashion tape on my bra straps didn't do the trick to hold it in place, so after I washed it, it went in the donation bag.

Those shoes are amazing!

As for frump, I echo what Shevia said.

What you say about comfort is the story of my life, too -- I hate clothes that don't fel good. I really do think all clothes should be like gear and feel perfectly suited to the purpose. That's one reason why I have slightly different capsules for work-at-home and out of the house events. Even if the level of formality (or lack of it) is, strictly speaking, the same, what's comfortable in one situation won't work as well in another.

Oh, I am sooooo with you. What you said about an endurance test really, really, really resonated with me. I think I need to try those Bexars again... they were nice on the feet except for the lining, and I just can't seem to get through a day with absolute zero foot pain, even in my crocs (darn you, wacky Crocs sizing)!

To answer your question, though, I don't see any frump! A little artsy-edgy, especially with the rockin' gold oxfords. Whoever said that a put-together outfit needs to feel awful should be sentenced to a week in a corset and 5" stilettos.

Deb, these are petites and if they shrink at all they will be too short. They fit about a size big, meaning you should size down at least one size. I am thinking of getting a pair in regular and hemming for heels. I read that they bag out over the day but that didn't happen. The waist is high, but I don't mind that because they are comfy and I'm never going to tuck with ponte pants!

Thanks, MaryK! I feel like I've become a blob from lack of exercise so it's nice to know it doesn't appear that way here.

Gosh no, not frumpy. Love the oxfords. Maybe add just a little color, like a colorful watch. I love the simplicity/function of a watch as chief accessory. I think that would work well with what you are needing from your clothes right now.
