My goodness, you chose well-I love the first sweater especially. Looking through your photos it is hard to tell what was already part of your wardrobe and what's new simply because the pieces you added are so cohesive while adding some great statement items.

Your choices look great on you! I tried that Free People sweater, it's so great in person. It didn't work for me because it was way too cropped on my body. When I sized up it was just too big all over. I also tried the ruched dress as a possibility for a dress over crops look, but it won't work for that purpose on me. It's a great dress for anyone considering it. I think the size you picked is the right size.

Many of these items I would have completely passed over based on the stock pictures (FP anything!). The dress is a dream on you!!! Also thanks for commenting on my picks- you have a great eye and I appreciate your input!

Diana, I think the tunic would look great on you, and also the dress. The cool thing about the dress is it could be the backdrop for some really neat hand-knit item. I think it would look great with a cape or poncho style topper.

Fathenry, I commented on your post before I saw this comment. A size down is worth a try.

Thanks, Vicki!

Brooklyn, I'm so excited! I love that sweater on you and in that outfit. I think the color might actually be pretty similar; mine looks darker in person to me than it does on the website. As to the dress, I think the 39" is in the back. It does come up pretty short on me in the front, a few inches above the knee. I'm just a tad under 5'5".

AM, if you need enabling, that crossover sweater comes in a lovely charcoal color, too. Well, they call it black, but it looked like a dark charcoal to me.

Thanks FC. Sleeveless is fine for me, even in winter, so the dress really appeals. I am worried it could be a little short for me in front. The site says 39 inches long but I am not sure whether that's in front or back. Are you tallish? I hope you don't mind me asking.
And we are sweater siblings now! I KNEW this day would come :)

thanks, SecretSquirrel--I'm flattered! Both pants are Sewing Workshop patterns. The brown ones are the Hudson pants, and the dusty olive ones are Trio pants. In both cases, I altered the lower leg to make it narrower, more pegged. The Trio pants are lengthened from the pattern, too--my intent was full-length pants, and then they continued to shrink in the wash (after I pre-shrank the fabric), so they are somewhat cropped now. My Hudson pants are shortened from what the pattern shows.

Absolutely stellar picks! I am vicariously enjoying the NAS through you all, from the UK.

You have such a good eye, Firecracker. I would wear all those outfits in a heartbeat. I knew when you described it that I would like the dark red crossover jumper, but I went back to check your trousers - gah, you made them! Did you design the pattern yourself, or is there a pattern you'd recommend? I have done pattern cutting courses but still find trousers hard.

Jenn, that's so nice of you! I was interested in a long vest, too, specifically for the plaid peasant top I showed above. I used to have a long burgundy vest that I wore with it, but the vest got rather worn and dated looking, so I passed it on. I tried on ribbed, buttoned vest, but liked this open-knit one so much better on me, both in style and color.

Runcarla, the sweater feels soft. Surprisingly so. I will caution that the knit is going to be one that pulls easily, though. There are a lot of fine yarns and long-ish stitches that can get caught on things.

Ah, right, Suz. My guess is that it's going to behave like the VC skirts. Later today I will try on the dress with some footless tights and no slip and see what happens. When I put the leggings on with it for my home try-ons, I had on the Commando slip, and usually I do that--I wear the slip even with leggings, to smooth things out. Not always with skirts, though--depends on the skirt and how it plays with the slip.

Thanks, Sharan. I am really tempted. I think the XS looks brilliant on you -- you don't need to go bigger.

If I had the right cardigan for it, it would be find without sleeves. I sometimes wear pullovers on top of sleeveless dresses, too. But the question -- the real question for me -- is does it stick to tights? If a dress sticks to tights, I simply won't wear it. I dislike that feeling intensely. That's why I don't wear my VC skirts in cooler weather at all -- they are strictly warm weather items for me.

Thanks, all!
Debbie, I think you will like the crossover sweater, and I think the tunic would look fabulous on you!
KL, I've worn both S and XS in Free People items, and in both the crossover sweater and the tunic I got the XS. (My cropped moto jacket that I show here is an S.) It's worth a try.
Joyce, that's funny! I think we are foot twins, in addition to having similar taste!
Yes, Thistle, I'm working on no orphans! It's so easy to get caught up in the excitement of the sale. I'm actually reconsidering the duplicate long vest in olive. . . .
Brooklyn and Suz, I thought I had picked out a size S in the dress, but when I looked at it just now, I see it's a size XS! (I only took one to the dressing room, and it's the one that came home with me, so at least I know it's the one I tried on.) In the dressing room, I didn't like the way it clung to my body. The SA thought a size up would have too much extra fabric across the mid-section, so I stuck with it. At home I tried it on with my commando full slip, and I liked it much better. But now I'm wondering if I should go back and try the S. In the photos I think it looks tight across the back. Suz, I do think you might like the dress; it's like the VC tube skirts, but with ruching up one side only. However, lyou're right, sleeveless is of limited use, isn't it? You might get a size up so that you can wear a long-sleeved tee underneath. In fact, I might do that, too. And Brooklyn, I think the dress is right up your alley. It's definitely a dark, green shade of teal, and I've seen you wear similar styles so well, too.
Amy in NC, welcome to the conversation! Thanks for chiming in with your kind and encouraging remarks.
Angie, thanks for your encouragment, in the midst of your hectic schedule!
