Chris, sorry neither of these worked out, but good job staying analytical and returning them when weren't for you! I can see how that moto sweater reads a little softer than the skirt. I have a similarly styled sweater from Modcloth that I'm sorry to say also hasn't worn well. It suspect it's a hard job to make zippers and metal hardware work with knit fabric.

Thanks for the review. I almost ordered the sweater. I was still waffling.

Liz good to know, second opinions are so helpful, especially when they agree with the first :-)

Suz yes I did get a petite in the skirt. Just not quite "petite" enough for me, I guess. The quality of the sweater was so poor that I didn't even get as far as considering how it would fit my climate, which is similar to yours with yours being maybe a little bit colder for longer. The colors in that colorblock sweater sound lovely! I have a lot of burgundy in my closet in the colder months with smaller amounts of reds and purples.

Thanks GreyCat!

I'm also with you on the skirt, Chris. I was not a fan of the skirt fabric because it seemed insubstantial which made it bunch strangely when I strode. It could have just been the color I tried on, which was green, or perhaps I had the wrong size. I do love the idea of the skirt and have seen photos of it looking fabulous on others. To each their own.

Onwards!

Chris, did you order the skirt in petite?

I hear you loud and clear on the sweater. A lot of times the quality of these sweaters disappoints.

A few years ago NAS featured a beautiful colour block sweater in cranberry red, plum, burgundy. It was absolutely beautiful to look at. I (and a lot of other fabbers) ordered it. I kept it, too, as did Thistle, mainly because the colours were supremely flattering to us both. But the two of us got a good laugh out of the description "sweater" for that thing. It was so lightweight that for us, in our climates, it was a top.

Having said that, it wore like iron. I had it in heavy rotation for two years and then passed it along to Anne in Oz because it was still in good shape and I thought it might work for her climate.

I had the same experience as you when trying that sweater on in the store. Wasn't for either of us. Moving on!

oops, can't seem to do grammar or anatomy today.....the point on the skirt comes down farther, not further...on my shin, not my calf. Moo.

I received the sweater and skirt yesterday. I ordered each in a couple of sizes.

The sweater is described as "A bouclé-knit body and rib-knit sleeves create a mixed-media look for a cozy-soft sweater with a sleek moto-inspired design" . That boucle knit is very stretchy to the point where it has no structure at all except for the zipper. There is also a snap closure on the hem and it pulls badly on the fabric when you unsnap it. The sleeves are a really flimsy ribbed knit, the kind that has no shape at all and if you scrunch up the sleeves it won't stay and will stretch out. (I've had these types of sleeves before, they just look and feel really sloppy). I had low expectations of this brand so I'm not too disappointed.

The skirt is ok, although the low point comes further down on my calf than in the picture so the look is a little off. The color is a bit too far toward purple for my taste, not the burgundy shown on the website.

So, back they will go. I also received five different black booties which I won't get to until tomorrow. Not feeling too bad about it.

Jenn you had commented that these items are a bit "hard edge" and you are right...not sure I'd want a skirt like this even in a color I liked, but a moto sweater in black would be a definite for me if I can find the right one.
