Thank you! I am at our family cabin at Rondane. Great place. Very smart with different packing lists! Saves time and energi, very efficient and i like that (and have a thing for all kinds of lists too ;)) my new take will be to add what works and not to the list. Snowy cabin weekend is something we havnt done a lot yet.

I think we are all covered for all kind of possible weather for this period of time. And we can buy in the village doen in the valley if needed.

Eta: Very unstable Internet here so will be more or less out of action for the next weeks

I assure you - no bathing suit is needed! Maybe later in summer, but not for the mountains. In general, I barely dip into the sea at all in Norway. Too cold for my taste, but many people do and you get nice water temp too. But I'm a wimp because I was *spoilt* with mediterranian summers all my childhool

I am impressed with your capsule. It seems you will be prepared for any weather/situation without a lot of extras. I hope the weather forecast is wrong! (My first thought was: no bathing suit? Can one have a vacation w/o a need for a bathing suit?) Hope the countryside is beautiful.

That sounds a lot better than a tent without it's poles! The cabin sounds lovely

Hihi VC, your camping experience is at least funny stories, lol:-) I'm no fan of tents either, so are not staying outdoor for 10 days! We are staying at a cabin, but no electricity or running water. The fresh mountain air is the best and there is a stream with a small waterfall running through a corner of the site. Lots of good memories in the air

You seem well organized! And yes, I can imagine how freeing it would be to just pack only the essentials and stuff them all into loose bags like this. No worrying about whether something will wrinkle or anything of the kind

I have to admit, I'd secretly like to go on a vacation like this. But, me and camping? Ha ha ha....I tried it once or twice. Actually, it was three times. First time? Bought a fancy Coleman velour-topped camping mattress without considering if it would actually fit into the teeny tiny tent I had. Second time? Forgot tent poles and used boat oars to prop up the tent. Oh, and I forgot to bring water too. One other trip I got a hankering for bagels with cream cheese and drove *three hours* to the nearest town to get them, only to return to camp having forgotten the bagels. Ate the cream cheese anyway. With a spoon.

Hope you have a nice time - sounds kind of chilly, but then that can be nice. It's too hot for me where I am, so huddling around a campfire with a cozy sweater on sounds heavenly.

Packing for family vacation is far simpler than work wear! We are just throwing all our stuff + kids + ourself in the car, so not bothering to pack nicely into suitcases.. just stuffing it all in big bags (very liberating!!!)

This is my minimal capsule for 10 days in the mountains (closest village is about 30 mins by car, down to the valley). I might not wear it all, but I think this is as minimal as I can get it. I will take notes so I can use this paking experience in the future. The weather forecast says rain and 10-15 degrees C (50-59F) for all days.. hehehe. Wish us luck ;-)

4 bottoms:
- hiking pants
- skinny jeans (well, I just changed a pair of light hiking pants for jeans because we are probably going to an amusement park one day)
- denim skirt
- hiking shorts

5 tops:
- 3 tank tops
- 2 sweaters (one is super thin)
- 1 tee

3 toppers
- 1 wool sweater (turtleneck)
- 1 wool/cashmere hoodie
- 1 cardi (linen, a bit pointelleish with insulating small holes)

Outerwear:
- rain gear
- anorak
- fleece/windbreaker

Shoes:
- wellington boots
- hiking sandals
- light goretex shoes/boots
- sneakers (for amusement park)

Accessories:
- watch
- 3 bangles
- 2 pair of ear studs
- scarf

Other:
- night wear
- undies, socks, bras

#1 accessories (without scarf)
#2 all my stuff (without outerwear, shoes, undies etc)
#3 *all* the kids' stuff + my outer wear (incl. outerwear, shoes etc etc etc)
