That's a lot going on, for sure! Seems like an amazing amount of progress for a short amount of time. I like the idea of using the vibe or inspiration from some of your pinned looks instead of recreating the whole thing, especially while you're off-season from most of them. Probably a bit more thought or experimentation required, though.

This has been a stressful time for you, Melaine. Changes, whether good or bad, can be very unsettling, especially when they come all at once, as in your case.

It sounds as if your July goals were quite successful overall, despite the distractions. Good luck going forwards.

Wow you have got a lot on your plate! You have done really well. I have to say I have never used stylebook or anything like that at all, nor do I get that many WIW's up, and I'm still pretty happy with how I dress.

What is ISO? I have seen it around a bit recently but missed a definition.

I think you look so pretty in so many of your pictures. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Sorry things are a bit stressful right now, hopefully you've got some ways to escape and calm your mind.

As for your goals, I think you did a great job with them. Some of the goals you set are the type that really should stretch across a month or two, and it sounds like you are making progress with all of them. Will you be continuing with any of these goals through August?

A thought on the shopping list: I find it best to write down what's missing at the end of or during any given season. My "remembering" brain tends to remember only the fun things I felt were missing, and not those far-more-important essential pieces (usually less fun) that might be missing.

And a thought on the Pinterest outfits: Perhaps instead of looking at recreating full outfits, pick elements or vibes from the outfits you like and then try doing a summer version that incorporates those things.

July has flown by. It's been an emotional month for me. I had to say goodbye to a place I loved the most in the world (family vacation home sold) and this week had to say goodbye to one of my dearest friends who is on her way across country to her new home.
One of my dearest friends is expecting a baby any moment. A few days ago I learned that my sister is pregnant with her first! This was wonderful news although it is hard not to tell everyone yet. My inlaws have just moved back to the states after 12 years in China and will be living 20 minutes away, which is wonderful. We are looking forward to quality time with them.
My mom is having a rough time with Leukemia but has traveled to MD Anderson and is getting very good care. I'm wrapped up in planning our homeschool year and very overwhelmed with everything at the moment. I have been trying and failing to potty train my 3 year old and the kids and I have been going a bit stir crazy with outdoor temps in the upper 90's.
Today I spent most of my day with an intense migraine and all the lovely extras that come with it like dry heaving and chills.
at this moment, I am lying on my couch, very very thankful to be on Prozac. Missing my friend, praying for my sister, listening for the phone call announcing a precious baby's arrival. Feeling very spent.

Here were my July goals:
1) WIW photos for each day (or at least 5 a week)
2) Practice adding a 3rd piece.
3) Recreate 10 summer outfits in stylebook using my inspirations from pinned outfits.
4) Make a list of ISO items so that shopping becomes less of a deal-hungry free-for-all.
5) Continue selling my items to free up money for the above "ISO" items.

1) WIW posts. I did more WIW posts than I ever have before but I certainly fell short of 5 per week. Still I am happy with what I wore most days and can certainly say that my style has improved from last summer. I enjoyed getting dressed for the most part. Much less closet angst.

2) Practice adding a third piece. I did well with this, I think, really focusing on jewelry. I found that a long statement necklace really improved some of my casual looks. I also bought more jewelry this month than I have in years so look forward to adding new looks between now and Fall (still far away in my neck of the woods)

3) recreate looks in stylebook. This was a fail. i think I successfully copied one pinterest outfit. I haven't been able to figure out how to sync stylebook from my ipad to my iphone. I tend to find autumn looks so much easier to recreate, so this was harder than i thought.

4) Make an ISO list. I haven't done great at writing this list down but I did consciously search for specific items and I did NOT buy many things I would have let myself buy a few months ago. I am looking at items more critically and I have been better about returning things (or just passing on them) if they are nice but not quite perfect.

5) Selling items. i have done well with this and even managed to complete a couple trades for items I would enjoy more. Most of my items are cool weather so i anticipate selling them in a month or two. But I have photographed and listed all on different FSOT sites, so that was an accomplishment.

I didn't mean for this to become such a huge post with so much sharing, but It's always nice to get some of it out on paper, er....ipad screen. Thanks to anyone who made it all the way through. Time for me to work on my goals for August!
