You have the most beautiful hair! It just makes me think of Robin Wright from The Princess Bride I especially like your fringe

As a MOTG, I rely on Batiste dry shampoo from Sally's Beauty Supply. It will give you volume and help get rid of the oil for when you don't have time to shower. (The pink one smells the best imo). When my little one was... er... littler... I had my hair cut back to a bob so it took about 7 min to blow dry with a round brush.

I think you'll look beautiful whatever you choose

I have the same hair type as you, just a different color. When mine is as long as yours with too many or two few layers it can look very flat to my head or kinda stringy. I find between shoulder and chin length to be the best. The really important thing is to get a really good haircut--- a decent hairdresser will be able to cut enough volume into your hair so it gets a little shape at the bottom. Also, parting to the side or the opposite side you normally do will give the top some lift-- have the hairdresser cut it while it is parted that way and it will lay right.

The photo on the left is me with shorter hair--- no styling at all, no product, just combed through and air dried at a shorter length with the right haircut. The second is my hair longer-- after being blow dried with product for lift--- just think about how flat it would be if I hadn't just been to the hairdresser in that pic. If you are worried about extra weight, going a bit longer so it just sweeps and rests on your delts gives a similar effect-- the extra hair fullness around the face and a long but not necessarily thick side fringe can help to make you look thinner. I also have very oily hair and do find I have to wash it everyday-- with shorter hair that is easier and cuts down on damage and head stroke/sweaty-greasies.

Oh, and Luke's birthday is today. But thanks Ornela. I hope your son has a wonderful birthday this month too. Jessica's is this month on the 30th. My two March babies.

Thanks for all your replies. I think what is holding me back from a shorter style is two fold. On one hand, it can look rather flat, like I don't have hair at all, so a bit on the masculine side. Secondly, I'm a bit on the heavier side and don't want to put emphasis on my double chin. But I'd really like to go there iygwim.
Thanks for the compliments too. I was never the popular/pretty girl at school by any stretch of the imagination and being called pretty is very nice.
Was that Hedi Klum? I had no idea, I just thought it was a good looking hair cut! LOL. Yep, YLF I need you! LOL.

You're so pretty! My only real hair advice is to look for a cut that works with your natural texture instead of against it. My hair is fine with a million cowlicks. When I found a hairstylist who knew how to make the cowlicks part of the style instead of trying to tame them, my life changed! (So dramatic, but I'm serious.)

Good luck with your style quest!

Honestly, you have such a pretty face and such pretty hair, I think the issue is probably more how to style it than how to cut it. Although if you have two little ones and no time for yourself then maybe going shorter would be a good solution, so that your hair has a "style" all by itself. Heidi Klum is a great idea as a hair model because she also has pretty fine blonde hair. Also check out Kristen Cavaliri (sp?) hair from Laguna Beach (a show that was on MTV a few years ago). She had stick straight blonde hair, layered about shoulder length and angled bangs. I thought it was really pretty.

I like the bangs on no.1. I remain convinced shorter length is a good option for you (maybe around chin-length) as it'll be a nice change. And since your hair is fine, you may need only a few rollers if you're short of time, but want to give it some volume.

Btw, I've also had my son in March 2007, so happy birthday to Jessica And I have a hair-related memory, I went to the hospital to what was supposed to be a check-up, but had to stay in (2 weeks before my due date). When they told me I am having the baby that night, my first thought was "But I haven't washed my hair!" :)

And until today I obsessively share one advice to every single expecting mum in hope they'll avoid finding themselves in my situation if the baby arrives earlier than expected - do not wait for the final weeks to sort it out, but fill up your freezer as soon as you can ;)

ETA: I just saw Heidi Klum's hairstyle recommended to you on another thread. That's the one to go for!

I've had just past shoulder length before, but once I went just above and DH said it looked to masculine. I tended to agree at the time, because with very fine hair it was very flat.
You will probably also be able to tell when my hair is thickest... late pregnancy or just after having a baby. Then it all falls out

Belinda I struggle with my hair too, I can never find something that I'm totally happy with! I like you with a side swept fringe like number 1. Have you ever had shorter hair like shoulder length? Hopefully Taylor or Renata might chime in for you, they're the real hair experts.

Ooh I just thought of something else, try the Instyle Hair Makeover, you just need to upload a photo of yourself and you can try on some different styles to give you an idea of something you may like. I've tried it myself but only to play around.

Well, there is a saying "You can't look forward without looking back". So I'm quickly posting a few pictures of my hair do's of the past so I can look at doing something a little different for the future.
Number 1. After Jessica's birth in hospital in March 2007
Number 2. Jessica was about 8mths old, so around 8mths later. It was a rare moment to have my hair down as Jess was a hair puller.
Number 3. I clearly remember bringing a pic into the hairdressers for this one ;). Jessica was just a little older than 1. Trying for extra volume, but couldn't keep up the look without a straighter.
Number 4. With a fringe. Luke would have been 7-8mths. So a year and a bit ago. Mid 2008.
Number 5. Recent photo. Yep, after that horror cut, I was trying to keep it up. And she was a qualified hairdresser! I'd honestly probably have better luck with a student.

So what do you think? Go back to bangs (still cracks me up! AKA fringe). Grow longer, or cut shorter? Suggestions very welcome.
