First of all, awesome first WIW! Your photos are incredibly clear and the lighting is great. I can never achieve this, ever!! I think that you look wonderful in everything, and love how you have experimented with color contrast and proportions. My very favorite is the first one. I really like the longer top in 1 and 3 better than the shorter top in 2. I also prefer the lower contrast of the top to the vest in 1 and 2 over the higher contrast of 3 and 4. I think that the sleeveless top also pairs nicely with the sleeveless vest instead of breaking up the line the way the sleeves do. I think that I would also like the vest with a long sleeved black top. I think that the jeans are so great and really love both shoe choices. And I think that the purse and jewelry in 1 finish the look off beautifully! You look so stylish and elegant... Now I'm off to see what the others said and hope that I'm in the same ballpark. Also... While I can usually look at my pictures and tell what works, I have difficulty understanding how and why.  Here's what I've learned so far: <ul> <li>As Tanya and Suz, suggest, the amount of skin is key to Angie’s brilliant sleeveless ensemble.  I don't like the ensemble with any of the short-sleeved tops I tried nearly as well.  </li> <li>Suz, N.Marie, Kellygirl, Kkards, Jaileen:  You suggest that tone on tone seems to have more interest than strict monochrome and more flattery than high contrast.  This is great food for thought:  all of a sudden I recognize that strict monochrome is my default, and this may be an interesting shift to make.</li> <li>Alana, you’re so right about the hemlines, and I think the vest’s high-low makes it even trickier.  The grey tunic is exactly the same length as the vest back.  The red top is even more problematic IRL because it has a very fluid fit.  </li> <li>As K. Period notes, IRL that vest is all about volume and movement.  In addition to being noticeably shorter than the vest, the red top adds even more volume.  So, Ummlila and Kellygirl: sleek is even more important IRL because that vest is all over the place.</li> <li>Like K. Period., Ambergreen immediately “got” my style vibe at the mini-meet.  I am Team Neutral all the way.  Also, S., I’m wondering if I’m tired of high contrast.  I wear it less lately, and when I do do high contrast, I usually soften it with a tonal scarf or some highly textured element – both absent here.</li> <li> E and Lisap:  Ohh, thanks!</li> </ul> I wore the vest again this morning out to breakfast (#1), this time with a longer black sleeveless blouse, the workhorse cognac booties, fringed bag (#2 Momentum “Becky”), vintage amber and my usual watch and bracelet pair.  I think it’s a reasonable alternative to the grey tunic.  1) I’m not finding strict monochrome as interesting as tone on tone.  2) The black blouse is the same length as the “high” part of the vest:  maybe JFE as opposed to the jarring horizontal of the long white top, but still not as flattering as the length of the grey.  Am I getting the hang of this? That vest really is great--and I meant to say yesterday that I really liked the color of your rustyish red top as well. On these, echoing Alana, the best shirt-to-vest proportion along the bottom is in #1; it looks the most modern--but I really like #2 as well, especially with the cognac boots, which make it pop nicely. But then, I am way into neutrals and also lower contrast (say, as compared to #3--which, it must be said, is also a classic mix of can't-go-wrong tones--but the higher contrast takes its cohesion down somewhat). I love the length of the white top.  the best Next up is #3, again the long look is best, and the length of the sleeves is good. My least favourite is #3 and #4--and you still look great! I am just not a fan of where the tops sit in relation to the vest. You look great--but something about those two horizontal lines are jarring to me--but then, that's me. I am highly sensitive to horizontal lines and I am not experienced enough to know if this is just a personal quirk of mine, or an actual proportion thing. My favourite is #1, but keep in mind I do have a special weakness for monochromatic tone on tone looks and I love the Okalas. Plus, I think this one works especially well with the shape of your specs. It's a bit dressier, too, which appeals to my own style persona.  I also like the other versions. I do think a sleeveless tee adds a flattering bit of skin and keeps it all quite streamlined, as opposed to the sleeved tees. What do you think?  So much fun to see that mini-meet photo! So, many thanks to all you members.  Inspired by Angie's recent ensemble, shopped from my closet  #1 worn to birthday treat with girlfriends: a fluid high-low lightweight rayon vest (Salaam rayon vest, local boutique) over a grey linen tunic (EF, thrifted) and relaxed skinnies, with a grey, white and black crossbody bag and ankle strap pumps.  Worn with silver and pearl pendant, mixed metal bracelets, mixed metal wristwatch. #2       The same vest and jeans with black silk tee instead of grey tunic #3       White woven “tee” instead of grey tunic #4       Bonus shot of Portland mini-meet, 8/16 Posting this is a learning experience for me:  I am actively soliciting your input.  I am particularly interested in which version you think works better (for apparent age, body type, and style) and why.
