I didn't expect my first WIW to be black actually as I am more of a colour girl. I will have to find a good place in the house to take photos. The only full-length mirror is in my 20 year old son's room which can become very messy and is currently,he is good at tidying it when I ask, but he is having friends to stay a bit more for now ( still our long summer holiday time) and there are extra mattresses on the floor.<br />I have hardly worn that leopard piece- I call it a jacket but it is very soft and floaty as you have noticed. I loved it when I bought it in 2012 , it has tiny gold studs on it which I think are so cute, but somehow maybe the colours are too muted for me. I will keep it for now and try to wear a bit more. <br />Thanks to Sisi, Bijou and Sally for mentioning cultural norms- yes, I was quite surprised that so many of the women wore brightish colours eg blues. Only 25 people and it was quite warm, and I suppose quite informal being at his house. I am glad I was no more formal as I was wearing the most black other than the 2 sons in dark suits.<br />The green plants are mostly NZ native shrubs and trees- I have a NZ native garden out the front but it is bordered in English box( buxus) as that is easier care than a NZ native edging. It is indeed mostly sandal weather but not as warm as is usual in January, there have been some storms and winds. I'm enjoying the forum a lot and it is so good to finally see all your photos after 7 months of not seeing any of them! I tended to read the psychology/philosophising ones more before. Her official funeral was very small, immediate family only, as her widowed husband is an extreme introvert and could not cope. It was also at the other end of our country, bottom of the South Island, when most of the wider family lives in Auckland. So the memorial was in Auckland where her son and family live. Most of the other women did not wear black I found, they wore modest summer clothing but some brighter colours. I've never been to a memorial service in a home before! It was quite a pleasant occasion in the end. I wanted to dress in black but not too black. I do look very sombre, whereas I usually smile for photos. Wonder if I achieved the respectful but not too sad look I was going for ? </p>
