I had a pair of pants like these a few year ago. My daughter complimented me on them, saying they looked good on me, but I only wore them a couple of times because I felt, just like Tanya says, like I was wearing a notch up from yoga pants. However since you have just had a baby I would think you can bend the rules a little bit.
P.S. That little tiny shoe in the background on the last picture is sure cute.

I'm overwhelmed by their short length, I can barely focus!

They are too loose to wear with tunics for sure, but they fit nicely around the thigh and bottom area, Anne.

Joy, yes - they are not PPL! As I said above, they were bought pre-YLF, and may have shrunk a bit. I was trying to work out if I should replicate them, and if I did, I would hem them differently

Thanks for the link Tanya. I wonder if I prefer an even higher waistband.
I so hate looking for pants! I just fitted into a pre-preggy skirt for the first time today and started thinking maybe I while just always wear skirts. But that isn't realistic!

I agree with Tanya. The fabric could still be knit with those types of thread.

Even if they were PPL, they have a yoga pant kind of look to them, which makes them look like gear. There are a lot of high waisted pants available these days.

How about something like this:

http://www1.macys.com/catalog/.....goryID=170

I searched aorund the web a bit and now I have a better feel for the material.

I agree with you on higher waistband, I think that it is flattering. I think that you could achieve similar effect with a super wide waistband on classic pant that hits right under the belly button. Here is an example (please ignore the price tag):

http://shopbluegenes.com/detail.aspx?ID=5425

I think that what bothers me about the pants is the cut: they look to me as a nicer version of the yoga pants. Like something great for lounging around the house and relaxing , but not for wearing outside. Please take this with a grain of salt, I obviously do not even know how they look in reality. I guess I just prefer more structure when it comes to pants.

Anne, I can't see the bottom of the black pants, but the brown ones look way too short for Angie's PPL. What do you think?

Thanks for replying Tanya (and for the compliment). It isn't knit, but 95% poly 5% spandex.
Angie mentioned she had a bengaline blouse or shirt recently, leading me to think it was a term understood in the US!

I think what I really like about them is the waist firming high waistband. I do have a few doubts about them - would be interested if you could pinpoint what bothers you?

I do not know what a bengaline material is, is it some kind of a knit material? If that is the case, I would personally advice against them. You have a great little figure Anne and I think you deserve so much better than that.

If they are not knitted, something about them still bothers me. I am sorry to be saying this since you obviously really like them.

When I was pregnant with my second child, I bought some highwaisted bengaline trousers (not maternity) that I loved and wore to death, They stretched til about 7 months and were great for the postpartum period. I tried to replicate the style with two slightly cheaper pairs. They were black and brown but I have just shown the brown pair here
http://i297.photobucket.com/al.....0_6141.jpg
http://i297.photobucket.com/al.....0_6142.jpg
http://i297.photobucket.com/al.....0_6144.jpg

I DON"T wear them with just that white top. (I do with the black top; it is one of my easy outfits) And please excuse something weird going on with the bra.
Also please disregard the blatant lack of PPL. Not only did I hem them prior to YLF, but I think they may have shrunk a little.

I love these pants because the high waist helps to keep in my tummy (more so that the pictures show, because the waistband is a little obscured by the white top) but they are starting to develop little elastic threads in the inner seams around the crotch and thigh area.

So my question is, if you came imagine them longer, do you think this type of pants is flattering enough for me to purchase some more?

BTW I have also worn them the black ones with my pink tunic/dress (shown here with skinnies and generally deemed to long for them)
http://i297.photobucket.com/al.....ation1.jpg

Do you think they are too loosefitting to wear with tunics?

Oh and here is a pic of me wearing the black pants (I've lost a bit of weight since them)
http://i297.photobucket.com/al.....0_5372.jpg
