Before I'd buy cardigans in large and XL in every color I liked and wonder why I never wore them. (Because they looked frumpy!!!!) Believe it or not most of my cardigans are <b><i>mediums </i></b>(I have one that's a size small but I am <u>sure</u> that brand is over-sized). Although in woven tops I wear a Petite XL or a 16/18P. <br />Because sizing is not consistent across brands I look at 3 areas to determine if I am going to get a sleek fit with a new cardigan. <ol> <li>Does it fit on my shoulder, if the shoulder seam is sliding off the edge of my shoulder and down my arm it's a no (I never have the opposite problem my shoulders aren't that broad).</li> <li>Does the fabric provide a close comfortable fit on my arm. It shouldn't feel tight nor should there be gaping especially at the cuff.&nbsp;</li> <li>Is the sweater comfortable and flattering open and buttoned up? Does the fabric lay smoothly over my body? I think you could play with a basic cardi and a fun colored tank under one of your jackets (suit or leather). The strong shoulder line of the jacket would keep your cardi from looking frumpy.
