Thank you for the review. I'll have to investigate their site. My problem is that I have wider calves but also that I am a petite. So any wide calf boot that I've tried don't work because the wide part of the boot hits at the wrong spot of my leg. So I'll be interested to see if they also address this problem.

Gigi, I have found them to be very comfortable - but I don't wear insoles as a general rule. However I do insist that all of my shoes and boots (at least those with an under 2" heel) are able to stand up to walking a mile or so, or a sprint down the street if necessary. I don't do uncomfortable shoes. Period. So I've never tried the higher heeled or Stilletto styles they offer.

Museum Gal, do the Duo boots have a lot of support, like a comfort shoe would have (Ecco, Sofft, Clarks, etc.)? Or if a person needs support because of fussy feet, would they have to use an insole?

Gigi, the boots are premade in standard shoe sizes and calf increments of 2 cm, and you order the size closest to your calf measurement. Some designs the calf measurement increases are in odd numbers, and in other designs even numbers. They have actual brick and mortar stores in the UK, so locals can try them on before committing. I started with one of their more inexpensive pairs on sale in case they were a disaster and my money was wasted. I think you can send them your ankle and calf measurement and ask if a particular style would work, if you have particularly slender or plump ankles, or if you have any other specific questions. The descriptions do give info like heel height and shaft height, etc. It's a leap of faith for sure, but a leap that has paid off for me.

WOW! The wear you got out of that first pair... I don't think I own any shoes now, that could hold up to that.

Your legs look great in the photos. Those are some seriously cute boots. Thank you for this review - I am definitely going to take a look when I wear out my current pair of flat boots.

Thanks for sharing! Your boots looks great and so good to hear the quality is worth the price. I seriously considered a pair this year before getting a few great deals on other brands. I'm cut off from buying any more boots this year.

Museum Gal, thanks for this. I have been considering Duo, and this helps.

Are you able to explain a little bit how it works? Do you pick a design online and then give them your measurements, and that's that? Do you get to try on a "proto-boot" beforehand, so that you're sure you have the correct size and that you have a style that is comfortable for you?

I'm making this a separate post because there seems to be a fair bit of interest in Duo. I'm not affiliated with the company in any way; what follows are my honest opinions.

Duo boots are sized by shoe size (European sizing) and calf size (30-50 cm or 11.8 - 19.6 inch). Although I have not used their customer email service, I have heard great things about how helpful they are from some of the blogs I read. They boots are all normal width in the foot. I have normal to slightly
wide feet and they fit fine. Duo also sells shoes and ankle boots in
wide (shoe) widths but I have not tried those.

I have purchased 5 pair of Duo boots and have been thrilled with 4 of them, less happy with one pair. The pair I wasn't happy with have a defect in the heel, where you can feel the nails digging into the foot. I solved this by using a half insole for cushion. I didn't complain to the company, which maybe I should have done. Those are my least worn pair, but more because they are the dressiest of the bunch and with the highest heel than because of the defect which I was able to work around.

The first pair I no longer own because I wore them literally into the ground. I wore those puppies probably 3-4 times a week for at least 7 months out of the year for a good 4 years before the heels were destroyed. And when I say wore, I mean I really wore them - I was a student at the time and walked miles a day in them. They could not be repaired because the leather was glued to a rubber sole/heel. My other 4 pair (navy, black, brown casual, and brown dressy) have regular soles and heels that can be repaired, thankfully.

Before making the jump to Duo, I used widewidths.com. The cost was lower, and the quality, while acceptable, was also lower. However I found that I loved having knee high boots so much that I was willing to fork over the extra $$ for quality, stylish, real leather boots.

These are my 2 most worn pair of Duos. Mind, I have 19 inch calves, but these do not look like fat lady boots. Or if they do, I don't want to hear it!
