I have a theory that summer sandals allow your feet to spread a bit. I always feel like my fall/winter shoes seem tight....might be in my head tho'

Those dearest boots are scrumptious. I think they suit your style beautifully, kinda oxford, kinda boot, kinda Doc Marten-ish.

What a coincidence, Shannon - I have been ogling those Borns as well as the red Seychelles boots too!

Hope the foot problem is just a case of swollen, end of day feet! FWIW, I think my bunion first manifested as pain rather than tightness, so you might be safe there. Plus it is a very localized swelling, right at the big toe joint. If the shoe is tight all over then it's likely not a bunion. My feet did grow in my 20s but more in length than width.

Angie - do you know what the most successful method of patent stretching is?

Keep us posted! Patent does not stretch all that easily - but it does stretch a bit.

Angie - I'm hoping that's all it was. I'll try them on a few more times at different times of the day and see if it was just a one-time occurrence or if I have a problem.

Sara - It's been about two months since I wore the shoes. If trying them on a few other times gives me the same tight results, I think I'll look at some shoe stretching spray and then wearing them around the house.

Shannon, your feet are a different size during the day. Perhaps you tried on your pumps when your feet were swollen? My feet are always larger in the morning.

Nice shoes!

Yes, foot size can change over time. At least that's what the shoes sales people have been telling me this summer! But if it's sudden (when was the last time you wore those shoes?), it could be water retention, or from whatever you wore and did the day before, or if it's verrry hot weather.

Running also made my feet grow - from 7.5 to 8, then up to 8.5! But this last move change over the summer toward size 9 I think is age related.

I've had luck stretching 'some' patent with wear, and Macy's has stretched some patent for me.

There's supposed to be an As-seen-on-TV shoe stretching spray out there. I was going to check it out. I prefer to stretch things on my foot, to prevent over stretching.

Cute shoes you linked to! I like the top one, but its pretty tall (if you're worried about bunions). I LOVE that 2nd one in charcoal. The 3rd one is one I keep seeing at Marshalls - cute, but no foot support.

It's interesting you mention the running Kim because now that my knee is 80% healed, I've been back to running over the past couple of months and that's when I started to notice my feet changing.

Some days my feet are more swollen then others, especially at the end of the day or during humid weather (you should have seen my feet in New Orleans in August! LOL) I find closed toes shoes "tighter" when I've been wearing open toed sandals a lot in the summer. Hopefully that's all it is.

My foot size has changed over the last couple of years, I've gone up 1/2 a size, but that's more from running than anything else I think.

Is it possible for the shape of your feet to change over a few months? I tried on my Kate Spade cobalt pumps yesterday with the Rachel Roy tree print skirt when playing in my closet and they were suddenly very tight width wise - but they weren't when I got them. I'm starting to wonder if I'm developing a bunion on my left foot. Is it possible to have patent leather stretched successfully? I called my cobbler to inquire and he said he will not work on patent because he doesn't want to take the chance of cracking it...what if I can't wear those gorgeous shoes anymore?

(ETA: a pair of red boots I'm falling for added at bottom)
