Goodness Mo, the sexy red dress looks sensational styled like that, wow.

I think this particular button down has a fabulous retro feel which would look amazing with the clams in there was less bulk in the turn up. I think the look has killer potential.

Ah, Marley thanks for chiming in! I would never have guessed that a white button down didn't feel 'you' by your pics! Makes me feel better. And it's a big lesson, that Angie has preached before, it's *how* you wear something that gives it it's style! I will try again. I think in the Tahoe closet is at least one or two pair of jeans that are ready to become shorts Try try again!

Malina - this is a good try! I think you've got it figured out already - the shorts need to be more streamlined - the cuffed jeans also need to have a less bulky cuff. Don't give up on this look! Your shirt, paired with a slimmer fitting denim bottom should be all this takes - and if you find the right kind of shorts, you will get to show off your beautiful legs - which you should take full advantage of! Also, I would love to see this outfit paired with your more feminine looking white shirt, than the one that I had - I think that would be a great juxtaposition!

And the red dress? FAB. I would have never thought of pairing this with gray and cognac - it takes the dress far, far away from the hoochie vibe! Looks great on you!

One more thing about the white shirt with denim bottoms - I HATE white button downs in general - have never felt good in them - but when I paired this with the shorts all of a sudden I was in LOVE! I had found a way to make a white button down "my own" and it felt great!

#2 would be even closer if you didn't have as much bulk in the rolled part... but yeah, I see what you mean. Compared to #4 there is no contest. Do you have non-denim shorts that fit closer than the bf shorts?

I think that #2 is close, but perhaps the top is too feminine for the vibe. I do like your red dress as tunic with the leggings and those cognac boots. That's an unexpected combination that works really well.

I was inspired by both Marley and Aida to pair a button down with shorts this week. Well, my version did not quite go as well lol! I think part of the problem is not having a proper pair of shorts to do this with - close fitting but not tight. I ended up rolling up a pair of cropped jeans and making do once I realized the BF shorts didn't hit the mark. They missed the mark, too. EDIT: and I realize the shirt needs a good ironing - I just haven't figured out how to iron the pucker/pleats on the bust detail!

Just for comparison's sake, I'll add the pic of the tunic/dress that I took within 10 minutes of the shorts pics. The way you dress your body type really can make a difference!!
