My apologies - my weekend plans changed suddenly and I only replied to half the posters.

Lisa - I like your chocolate pieces. Esp the patterned blouse.

Interesting isn't it Carla. My Mum wore a lot of chocolate in the 1970s - it was her favourite. As her hair changed to more of a strawberry she moved away from it towards lighter colours (you have similar colouring to my Mum, and similar hair). I love that leopard shirt - I used to have a leopard print shirt and it was a super useful piece. Great with black, great with coffee, good with red and also with denim.

As a fellow bright spring I think chocolate is good on our colouring. I like my camisole but as it is bare I don't wear it to work, and then it just doesn't get a lot of outings. Good to be able to lend something for maternity wear!!

I wonder if you will end up with chocolate Suz! I could see some cord pants or wool trousers being a good choice for you, if you want a different neutral in winter.

Angie - I do prefer mid to lighter browns. I love so many of your pieces here with my most favourites being the belts, the striped sweater and the footwear.......Love those patterned belts - something I should keep an eye open for.

Roberta - chocolate brown cords are something I would love to find next year. Although I did wear them as part of my school uniform in the 1980s (the uniform was developed in the 1970s so we disliked it intensely).

Cat2 - sounds as though you are sorted with brown! Cords again - definitely a good piece to have. I wore a lot of chocolate in the 1990s and early 2000s. At the time I loved it with duck egg blue.

Julie - bitter chocolate can be nice on cooler toned people - and I think having shoes and pants are a great idea.

Bijou - love your leopard print. That golden brown is very appealing to me too.

Lise - I like the sound of your chocolate collection. And I prefer maroon to burgundy on me.

Brooklyn -you have a stunning chocolate collection. Just lovely. Lots of tonal options there.

Ket-another great collection especially your coats.

Bonnie -nice tight edit here. The chocolate wide leg were a great buy -one of my summer workhorses.

Jaime- I have seen you in some great
Brown pieces.

In comparison to the amount of items in my wardrobe I have relatively few brown pieces. Okay, I am going to be talking about my darker and mid-brown items, not rust or taupe of which I do have quite a few more.

In dark brown I have a long puffercoat, a cord blaser,a cognac coloured leather coat, a toffee teddy bomber jacket, a heat-tech turtleneck, 2 x linen pants, a brown/cream patterned sundress, a brown/cream/turquoise patterned cami-style top, a satin cami (that I use for layering), Tall boots and 2 x ankle boots. Small bag in brown/caramel (a Fendi dupe), brown Sisley bag (reminder I must get it out!), Winter scarf and gloves.

I would like a rich brown knit for the cold months.

You all have fabulous brown pieces. I wonder why it goes out of favour and disappears for years at time.

BROOKLYN I wonder if the colour you prefer is maroon, which is brown based, where as wine is more blue based.

For those who think brown does not work with grey hair, if your hair is lighter and more to the silver side it will look spectacular. Actually I think if the brown is rich and saturated it will work with all grey hair.

I love brown. I wear both warmer and cooler versions. I managed to find it during the drought. It never disappeared from my wardrobe.

These are some of my darker browns. I haven’t included lighter browns like cognac, rust and tan (but I also like and collect them).

I also really like a deep wine that almost looks brown. I think that’s my favourite colour at the moment.

Oooo! I am loving everyone's chocolate collections! Here is mine. I wish I had more chocolate, especially in toppers and shoes. Definitely should try to buy more while it's so plentiful! Might make that a goal...

I really love chocolate, whisky, caramel/toffee, and camel as neutrals for autumn/winter, and a bit for spring/summer. They're quite low energy for me to wear, compared to colors. That said, they're also soothing and nice for lower energy days. I also appreciate them as neutrals in outfits.

I have more light browns, beige and Khaki, than dark brown but I found these darker items in my Finds. The Chinese jacket is a true dark brown and gets a bit of attention when I wear it, the scarf has bits of dark brown, the puff sleeve jacket is more caramel than brown, and the sweater is milk chocolate color. I like the looks of your chocolate wide leg pants.

I’m brown-curious, but haven’t acquired anything in chocolate. My brown related stuff is like Bijou’s, and bookends my hair. I have a penchant for mustard, and have a vest in a Dijon colour that almost qualifies as being in the brown family - but doesn’t ‘count’ towards the ‘brown’ trend.

You would think as a former red-head who gets slotted into autumn by colour analytics, that brown would be a slam dunk - but it’s not, or at least not the dark browns/chocolate.

My oldest brown item is a long floral skirt from I think 2008. I have lent it to my husband’s colleague who is pregnant right now as it has a sort of elasticised panel at the top that will see her through a few months.
Also my 2023 Joseph Ribkoff pants have some brown in the pattern which I wear with rust or cognac tops and “bronze” cardigan (it’s probably more brown than bronze really but I have called it the bronze cardigan since I got it in 2018!)
I really like your camisole!

Despite liking chocolate brown, I don't have ANY at the moment! At least not that comes to mind. I might indulge in something if it comes along, but I'm not going to hunt for it specifically, and it would have to be the kind of item that would work with the rest of my closet.

Sal, you tend to prefer a brighter orangey-brown to chocolate brown - like me! Team Whiskey, Cognac, Saddle and Gingerbread reporting for duty with you - such a pretty camisole, and love those tall boots! Very Charlie's Angels.

Great brown items, everyone!

I am delighted with my brand new chocolate cords! Some day it will be cool enough to wear them, and I have lots of contrasting tops to go with them.

Dark brown was previously hard to find - I have lots of cinnamon and lighter browns - so I only have a few things from the last two decades (!). The faux leather pants are great, but only in cold weather. Not pictured, an excellent Uniqlo linen top that I wore a lot this summer. Now that this color is everywhere, I might look for a sweater. Dark brown looks so good with denim and white bottoms.

Heading into Fall, I have two silk tops with brown in the pattern, circa 2014. And a new pair of brown corduroy pants. I do have my shoes pretty well covered as I picked up shoes right at the end of the brown trend, and still have a brown reptile belt. I don’t expect to do much shopping for brown for Fall other than for a purse and new loafers.

Chocolate is not a good colour on me, so my chocolate brown is very limited to a knit that has chocolate in the pattern, ankle boots and sneakers which are a bit lighter than true chocolate brown, more of a coffee brown colour. I love leopard print, but the base that works on me is more of a golden beige colour, which is my preferred way of wearing brown.

Funnily enough I only really think of the wide leg linen trousers as chocolate but the camisole and leather is a form of a milk chocolate I guess. The plaid also has chocolate in it.

The cami does not get a lot of wear (once or twice a year) but the boots and pants are all workhorses. The linen pants are perfect for travelling as they are cool, light, don't show too many marks and covered up.....which is useful in cathedrals, mosques and for sun protection.

What chocolate brown do you have?
