Very nice collection of burgundy pieces. I don't see a full length pleated pant as competing with a culotte. They are much different items. I would think the culotte would split wears with a skirt more than a pant.

The fit on the Talbot jacket looks perfect in the pics. It should prove to be very useful.

Burgundy is a gorgeous colour for you! And super versatile. I think this jacket works really well on you and love the ways you've shown it for work, so if the fabrication works for you, definitely keep.

I have a burgundy line up, too! What I bought already: Vince dress, Pure Amici hooded cardigan.

What I am eyeing: half the wares at BR. ;)

As well as some at Zara. ;)

I definitely would like a burgundy pair of pants, and possibly a bag.

I love these outfits...they are some of my favorites of what you've posted! You look really excellent in burgundy, and I love the color schemes you have going on here.

I really like the Talbot's jacket and don't find it too stodgy. I like how you rolled up the sleeves.

I find that duplicating flats (or any shoe) isn't too much of a problem as long as the colors are contrasting (one light, one dark). So I expect that you will get a lot of use out of the duplicated AGLs, since your other ones are nude.

ETA: I have added pics of the Talbot's blazer and the AGL flats up in the original post.

The blazer is a great color and nice linen blend. As expected, it's a short jacket so is not for pants, would have to be with skirts, which I have, and dresses, of which I have less, except new Loft casuals, but hmm, haven't tried it with MOB dress. Very hard to get any same jacket for both pants & skirts, for me.

Shown along with the flats.

Methinks I'm looking very Talbot's. I can say that because I have and enjoy a half dozen or more of their items currently.

So, the question is, is the jacket too stodgy, or is it a good classic wardrobe essential? it's in color palette I'll likely keep for a good while, goes with multiple skirts, and could be tossed on over neutral dress of the future ( including intentional sleeveless, using the jacket )? It was at a good price, so, sales goggles could be in play vs. it's a good buy even if one day I find something edgier.

The flats are keepers I believe because of how much I can use very comfy running around flats in order to be able to wear skirts more often. I sized up 1/2 size from my others.

Wearing both items together increases the conservative factor--the flats I can jazz up more (well, for me!) with trendier sweaters and such.

Thoughts and comments welcome.

I am adding a few pieces also. I really need more tops but what do I buy? Bottoms, of coarse. I love the color of those EB capris that Jenn posted. Wish I could find that color in a top. The Talbots ankle pant is on it way to me and the Zara culottes are hanging in my closet. All of this will go nicely with the Classiques jacket I got last year at SSIF.

Even though I've said my colors going forward are grey, blue and olive, I could see burgundy working as well. I tried on the burgundy JCrew jacket and loved it. But it didn't love me. The color looked great, but the fit was really awful.

Love it! I'm excited for a good burgundy season. I have my eye out for a blouse, maybe, or a sweater. Here's my current lineup, including summer pieces, much more casual than your polished choices:

You know, after looking at another of your threads, I was thinking that burgundy could be 'your' neutral. Hopefully these pieces work out for you - and Firecracker.

As much as I love the color I only have one piece, a sweater, that gets much wear.

Very fun! I really love all of the pieces you're trying!

I'm a fan of burgundy as well, but so far it's been more of an accent than a major player in my wardrobe; I just don't come across very many pieces that work for me in that shade. However, that's beginning to change, as I slowly add to my little collection, & this fall I've found three more pieces: some wool flannel I'm going to make into a skirt, a woven wool scarf in a grey/cream/burgundy plaid, & knee high boots (!). Yay for Team Burgundy.

Firecracker, those are more burgundy badness (aka madness) also.
I would like to be modern and pointy but it is not working well for my feet. But this color and the subdued reptile strap are lovely. I also like the shape and drape of the T, as well as the color.
Hope you show results!

I love burgundy, too. These are great selections and look like they will work with your style. The color of those flats is lovely. I am resisting duplication of more buckle and strap ballet flats, too. But these pointy-toe berry colored ones gave me pause when I saw them online. AGL ballet flats are a very comfortable style for my foot. I doubt I'll cave and get them. . . unless they go on sale!

Meanwhile, I got this t-shirt at Madewell, admittedly because of the color, which is a deep, dark shade of burgundy that is a great color for me and not very common to find. I like the high-low, swing style, too. I just wish the tee had long sleeves.

Loving all the burgundy. I use it, and variations of it, as a "nearly neutral" so I like having a fair amount of it, not just occasional accents.
Still, I don't want to add willy-nilly, so I will be putting the items below (not all have arrived) through their paces to see if they work to complete outfits, add rich color options, and compare even across items, such as, are the burgundy shoes more useful than the burgundy jacket, and, do these styles work.

I had spotted these AGL's earlier in season and had been resisting duplicating my "nude" AGL's from several years back, partly because they just seldom go on sale in my size or color choice, it seems. But, articles on "power flats" notwithstanding (Corporette, for example, emphasizing pointy and studded--they got some reader pushback, though!), I work in ballet-flat rich environment, so it's a very mainstream look, and also my "eye" prefers them with many pencil skirt outfits over oxfords and other clunkier footwear with nude hose.

I agree with Staysfit that having too many buckle& strap-toe flats was not my goal, but this rich, subdued color is a great for me, offering just slightly less harsh look than black-with-nude legs, plus work with some tights, and my other AGL's have proved comfortable and have had "happpiness longevity". I like that they have a small stacked heel.

Also may try the Chelsea pleated trousers for fun, though will have to see how practical they are, and if they "split wears" with culottes.
