How long time do hips develop? I mean how long time do they grow bigger?

So, I'm an IT and have come to like my shoulders - models often are ITS so clothes will hang properly. One clue for me is that when my arms hang straight, the don't come close to touching my hips. But you are very young and still have a ways to go developing - so don't focus on that. You look very proportionate and not IT to me.

I think "square shoulders" are a lot more angular, they create literally square/perpendicular lines. Your neck-shoulder transition is smooth and your shoulders have beautiful rounder form actually. I will use an exaggerated example to explain what I mean (I'm not a native speaker too).
In this photo Cameron Diaz is thinner and more muscular than usual. If you look at her shoulder-to-arm line (along the vertical white line) you can see her shoulder form and her arm form easily, right? There is a ")" form around her shoulder and a visible meeting point between shoulder and arm. This is what I mean by "defined shoulder". Yours are not that muscular nor exaggerated, but I can see the actual shape of your shoulders and the point where your shoulders and arms meet (it's visible in a good way). If you look at my arm that same line looks flat. Note that my arm if flexed in this photo - I was carrying a coconut - and there is no more than a shadow of a shoulder or arm visible. My shoulder/arm is by comparison "undefined".

It's not that you look like a V, but since you have well shaped/defined shoulders you can show them off and make then look larger on purpose easier than a girl with undefined shoulders (you can do that to create a more accentuate X shape, but then you will need to use some V-shape tips to do the same with your bottom and keep everything in balance). Girls with undefined shoulder can make them look larger with some effort too, but we need to be extra careful to not end with fatter/weird arms instead of larger shoulders

Hi, Dana. You have a lovely figure :)

I'm sticking with one of my previous guesses: your shoulders are not broad/large, they just have a well defined shape. I really think defined shoulders look gorgeous in A-line halters and tops with a V string/line coming out of its center, but if they really bother you, there are some tips to make then look smaller:
http://www.insideoutstyleblog......lders.html
(this blog has an article about how to broaden your shoulders, you may look there to see what to avoid too)

About your body shape, from your mearurements I would expect your hips to look larger and that's not the case at all. Your chest and hips look well balanced. I still think you are primary a column, but with something of a neat-hourglass too.
In the link above there are sections about body shapes. I believe you may use above tips to make your shoulders look smaller along with I-shape tips to create a slender figure or you can show off/emphasize your shoulders and go for some V-shape tips to create a more X-like figure.
Note that you are not really an inverted triangle/V, but you can easily create the visual illusion of larger shoulders because their well defined shape, so you can use it to your advantage and get more outfit options

Take heart, Dana! You look lovely, Nobody's perfect, and we all have things we like and dislike about our appearance. It's important to learn to love your body, with all its little quirks and imperfections.

If you're an IT, you have one of the best body shapes to hang clothes on. A strong shoulder line gives structure, as AM says. That's why it's a very common body shape for models. But your shoulders don't look so very broad to me.

Please don't try to loose weight. You body looks perfectly healthy and you're still developing. Instead, learn how to eat healthily and get plenty of exercise. That way, you'll grow naturally and avoid weight problems in the future.

Ok, gotta argue, hehe So not IT. IMO, your shoulders are just standing out because of the stark contrast with the black tank. Taking it all in at once, as would a bypasser on the street...zero IT, even with the contrast. And the measurements support my findings, lol. You can call me fat cow now. My bff would

It's probably hormones and I should give my body time to grow and develop.

So I just took a look in the mirror and I think I'm IT. My shoulders is wider than my hips and compared to the rest of my body they are huge. Especially when I wear big T-shirts, but I really love wearing them.
On me it just look wierd because I'm not getting any taller

I have broad shoulders and I wouldn't call your's overly broad AT ALL. But shoulders can be a big plus. They add structure to your clothes. I have friends that have very small, sloping shoulders and they seem to have problems of their own with clothes appearing to hang off them with gathering and poor form. You have a nice trim figure. We all fuss about our bodies a bit but in the end it is good to accept it and try to love thy self.

Hi, Dana,

First, may I say that you have a lovely, trim feminine figure whatever shape you decide it is.

I agree with most of the others that you are probably a mix of IT and rectangle, but you are not extreme in any way. You can use the guidelines for both shapes, but please don't get too hung up on the "rules". At your age there is plenty of scope for just having fun experimenting with lots of different styles - that will tell you a lot more about what suits you and what doesn't.

Oh and no. You have no worries about looking masculine. You don't. These shape terms are for picking clothes that fit well and therefore flatter. These body shapes aren't what make the world see that a female is a female or feminine. What does, tho, is pretty interesting. The science is fascinating. And actually, losing weight would be unhelpful toward that goal. 'Course becoming morbidly obese would also be unhelpful, but in a different way.

Oh, very smart to do across measures as well as around, and with the pics... I've very similar measurements. I'd say you're a rectangle / mild hour glass.

Did you do an under-bust around measurement too? That's also very useful to know. The difference between the bust and under-bust will tell quite a bit how things will drape.

As you are still growing, I'd definitely redo the measurements in a year's time. Or at the start of the new school year when/if you do back to school shopping (that's when I always got my new clothes). Or outgrow what you've got noticeably. I think 14 - 15 is when one day I realised I'd gotten taller than the refrigerator!

Give it a couple of more years - up to 16 or maybe even 18 when the feminine body really develops (breasts and hips).
And no, you do not look manly at all, you look like a lovely young girl

No Dana, losing weight will not change your body shape and would only make you look masculine not feminine. There is really no way to change your body shape. Your body shape is determined by your skeletal structure and you cannot alter that. Hopefully you will learn to love the body you have, whatever shape it is. Also, your body should continue to grow and change for a year or so more now that you have had your period. I would focus more on wearing feminine clothing, and eating healthy food. You will not look masculine. (I'm a physician, I really know about this stuff )

Don't worry -- you don't look remotely manly! And, unless you were to gain a whole lot of weight, body type is not an issue of weight. This is genetic stuff.
Losing weight would not change the width of your collarbones and shoulder bones and pelvic bones or whatever bones those are that determine the width of your shoulders compared to your hips.

I would say you are somewhere between rectangle and IT, can't say exactly as the photos are not very good. Could you do a full length body one, but bigger than the first photo you posted?

I have this one too
My shoulders and hips looks almost similar, but as you can see my shoulders look very broad.
I'm very short and I really don't want to look masculine at all. If it's not only in my head I look very manly, does I help to loose weight then?

But isn't there any other body shapes with wider shoulders than hips? If I search the rectangular body shape on google images it looks like their shoulders is wider too
