Thanks for the tip, Kirti! It just looked and there's a Mephisto store here in Berlin, I'll try them.

Thanks Meredith. I think I'll order the olive jacket if the other jacket doesn't work out. The other one should arrive tomorrow or Friday. I'll post some pics.

Thanks Heather. I try to avoid that situation, sometimes it works, sometimes not. I think I definitely want a cargo jacket in my wardrobe, even if I may not buy or keep this one. I think it's a great option to have.

Thanks Sylvie. This was fairly easy, these were just the items I most often wanted to reach for. Sofft shoes sadly aren't available here.

Impressed that you know *exactly* where your wardrobe holes are. If they're available in your location, my wide feet have been really happy in Sofft flat and heeled sandals.

Astrid, you are so smart to assess ahead of season. Most of us assess the moment we are walking out the door in a rush and realize we are ill-equipped of an essential. The cargo jacket will serve you really well--all seasons and lots of layering options...under and over.

I like both those utility jackets! They have a classic shape and are wonderful colors for you! Hope the other jacket you ordered works out and I am sorry that the olive one was not in stock!

Astrid, try Mephisto for sandals if you have it there. I spent the past few months looking for comfy sandals that fit my wide feet and I found them there

Manidipa, I already tried Clarks. I even was in a Clarks only store here in Berlin. Their 'gear' sandals would fit, but everything that's a bit dressier is too tight when it's the correct size lengthwise. I couldn't even get my feet into a few sandals the SA brought.

Aida, I was at Zara today and they didn't have the olive jacket. I could order it though. I thought I would wait and see if the other jacket I ordered works out first. The first pair of sandals is actually still available (these are flats), but they are pretty expensive with 110€. The other two were just examples, I don't think they are available anymore. Although I can see how a natural tan sandals might look better.

Thank you so much Suz! I will think about ordering the jacket. Or maybe I'll also have a look around and try if I can find something similar elsewhere. I definitely like the idea of it a lot.

Thanks Freckles. It's interesting to hear that you think it might be too 'university kid'. I think this contrast between more dressy and this casual jacket might be interesting. Not sure, I'd have to try it I guess. I've seen the navy jacket today and it didn't look as good IRL.

I love the first jacket to death for you but it has a much more casual vibe than the second. I think it might be a bit too much college/university kid for you. The second jacket seems to fill the bill. Maybe in a different colour it would feel more out there than the navy which is certainly a beautiful workhorse. Good luck!

I like both those jackets and think the olive might be a nice change for you and a good addition to the wardrobe. I admire your analytics abilities and ability to identify just what you need. I wish I had some good suggestions for the sandals. But I do know that it's awfully tough when you KNOW what you need and then can't find it!

Astrid I have that same olive parka open in my browser, debating whether to buy or not (I'm not too sure of my size in Zara since we don't have a store here unfortunately). I like that one a lot, and the olive should be super for your coloring and clothing colors too. Of the sandals you posted I think the first pair (flat) would probably get the most use for you. The heeled pair is cute, but I am a bit unsure of the color; I think a natural leather tan for that would be a lot better.

No luck at Clarks either? My short wide feet have been happy with them, and there are flat versions I'm seeing here that are very similar to the ones Shannon's wearing with her dress today (yesterday?). Does that help any?

Shannon, it is! The navy one would be a real neutral for me, yes. The only size left is xs though and I definitely need a s or m. I just hope they still have it in the store so I can try it. I think this is one of these items that are sold out fast.

Good for you Astrid for identifying your wardrobe holes. That's more than half the battle!

I like both of these utility jackets and think you can't go wrong with either one. I would choose the colour that works with the most items in your current wardrobe. My guess is that might be the navy one?

No problem. I agree, they are my favourite pair from the ones above. I'm not one for super dainty and I'd like real leather ones, simple but with a bit of a boho vibe.

Thanks Harmonica. I like both jackets, I guess it all depends on whether they're still available. The navy one is almost sold out online.

I definitely want flats for the sendals. Maybe I can do a very low wedge, but they have to be insanely comfortable then. I don't wear heels and these sandals have to be all day walking shoes. Ecco is great quality, my new black ballet flats are Ecco, but their sandals are too narrow for me. That's a big problem, I have short but wide feet.

The sandals below are from my pinterest board. The second pair would be too high for me, but I like the style.

I like both utility jackets a lot! I think the navy one is a bit more versatile because it seems slightly more streamlined and dressier (though not dressy like a blazer). The olive one is great too, but a more casual vibe because of the hood, which is great for shifting weather.

As for sandals I am wondering what style you want. Is it a dressier, low heel sandal (wedge maybe) or is it something along the ones that Suz have. Ecco usually have a good selection, great fit and high quality.

I think my biggest wardrobe holes for the moment are a pair of comfortable sandals and a lightweight non-denim jacket to wear with everything. I think something like the utility jacket Suz wanted. If I wear my jeans or my denim look a like corduroy pants at the moment I have either to go without a jacket or wear my one coat that is too warm for spring and summer. My lightweight jackets are all denim and my new black blazer jacket is too dressy for everyday wear. I ordered a navy trenchcoat jacket that was marked down 60% and left in only my size the day before yesterday, I hope it will work. I don't have a picture, because it isn't online anymore. Seems it's sold out now.

Another option would be Zara, I saw in Tanya's thread that Angie named them and had a look. They have two that might look good, the pictures are below. They aren't all sizes left online, so I'm not sure if they still have them in store. But I could look tomorrow.

The sandals are a big problem. I've looked everywhere I could think of because I didn't want to order online anymore just to have to send them back again and I haven't found anything.

The other things I still really need are a winter coat and sturdy boots or booties for fall and winter, but that can wait a bit.
