I photographed things either as I wore them, or picked a defined small category.  A 30x30 would be a perfect place to start.  If you have finds for the pieces, you could "save image as" and get your photos quite quickly from online sources. I love playing around with it... for example I generate "packing lists" all the time, just to keep track of things, what I'm wearing, what I'm not, for capsules, as well as actual packing lists.  I develop categories of "looks" for capsules, things that can be worn together, things like that, that are not really things I've worn.  All kinds of things. It's not perfect.  Some of the more analytical things are probably best done on a spreadsheet, but I really enjoy the visuals. I get the photos of the garments from the websies, and then delete as much of the model as I can.  this results in funny hair and funny fingers.  Sometimes they end up as holes, sometimes as eyelashes, depending on my mood. Sterling and Sal, I use Stylebook.  The photos of my clothes are either ones I've taken, or ones I've "save this image as"'d from the website.  Not every manufacturer provides a "polyvore" style of photo, so I often just grab the one the model is wearing.  Then within Stylebook I delete all the extra crap (except apparently the hair, in some cases )  I then put this together as a "look". Sal, I do think it'll make it easier to get dressed for work, simply because a LOT of choice is removed.  Until of course I realize it's a perfect day for item x and go "off list".... Lisa, I haven't worn them yet this year, but I kid you not, open toe shoes have only made an appearance in the last couple of weeks, and not every day at that.  We've had the longest transition into warm weather, ever.  So I can't answer that, but I sure hope I still like, and like to wear, them. This is sort of how I'm doing it too.   Are you still wearing your Freebirds?  Mine are now in their 3rd summer and I'm not finding them as comfortable as they once were. I also don't know which I prefer. It will be interesting to see if this helps you dress for work more easily, if you feel your work looks are more interesting, and if moving forward it helps you identify gaps or not. I have been following the 30x30 challenge with interest, as I'm always fascinated by these types of things, but generally have no interest in actually doing one.  I have a huge wardrobe, and while I'm sure I'd learn a lot, I hate the thought of a lost opportunity to wear something.  So this time around I thought I'd quietly do a "virtual" 30x30, choose my clothes, but not worry too much about actually wearing them.  But I didn't know where to even start.  So I didn't. But last night, I got hit with a bit of a brainwave, and figured out a way to do this challenge, my way.  If I learn something, great.  If I don't, well, I've had fun so far coming up with this, so mission accomplished.  I was hugely inspired by Anchie, and how she described her capsules.  So what I've done, is developed two WORK capsules, one based on navy, and the other one based on black.  Then whittled them down to a total of 30 pieces.  Thus the reason for the 20... in a month, there is really only 20 work days.  Baby steps! Each bottom goes with at least two tops, usually more.  Some of the pieces work across both capsules.  I have included some casual bottoms and footwear for Friday's as well as possible meetings with outside groups, who are often more casual than my office... or involve walking around.  I'm cheating enough by not worrying about evenings and weekends, I have to accommodate casual work days! I will try to actually follow this, but may morph into it being virtual, for the reasons above.  If I do, I still intend to post my outfits as the challenge continues, chosen based on the weather, what I've "worn" already (try to mix it up) etc.  Another reason to keep it virtual is that the timing of the challenge isn't great for our weather (although this year, who knows what that means).   I find once July hits, things get hotter, and more casual.  Things like sandal booties get too hot, but I want to wear the heck out of them while I can.  I also start wearing dresses a lot of the time.  So while this may be great for the next (and the last) couple of weeks, it may not be great after that.  We'll see.  I do intend to follow it as much as is practical.  And will do my best on weekends as well.  Ironically my navy capsule was inspired by a new top that has both navy and cobalt in it, which I've now taken out as it's more "hot summer" (July/Aug) than "early summer".  I am not including gear, nor jewellery. And I reserve the right to swap anything out as long as it's not worn.  For example, I may choose a short sleeved dress if things get hot, and I haven't worn this 3/4 sleeve one yet.  And while I'm loving scarves at the moment, I can't see really wanting five... this will leave room for a swap.  But rather than think about things even more, I wanted to post and get on with this! I'll post the week's outfits at the end of each week.  So there we go.  Cheating a bit, but I'll call it "making the challenge my own" :) The numbers: Short sleeved tops:  7 Long sleeved top:  1 Cardigans:  2 Pants:  6 Skirts:  1 Dress:  1 Scarves:  5 (!) Shoes:  5  (Can't see this happening, I LOVE shoes.  And my Freebirds aren't here ) Bags:  2 Let the games begin!
