Thanks everyone for your responses.
Brooklyn I will have to check out Etsy for jewelry. Thank you.
Sterling, Joy, and Angie really focusing on how I feel in my clothes both physically and emotionally has been really enlightening for me. I am realizing how important the fabric is and how much I like wearing more "arty" type pieces.

This week I have been working on a "fantasy" wardrobe in Pinterest by going through all my pins and looking for outfits and garments that are an automatic "yes I would love to wear that". I will post when completed.

What Sterling said. You are so in tune to how you feel and what makes you happy. You have a beautiful wardrobe. I especially like arty tops 5,6,9.
You inspire me to pull out my two ponchos and a shawl, none of which have been worn since last winter. I seem to be favoring vests this season.

You have a lovely collection of tops and toppers. I especially like #3,6,9. Stylish when out and comfy when at home are exactly what I strive to be. Collecting artisan jewelry sound like a great idea. I have a favorite boutique that sells wonderful jewelry and I should start collecting some myself.

Lynn, I could have written most of your observations. I am definitely much happier to repeat at home, and comfort is my priority there. And I also don't like wearing toppers indoors.

As far as artisan jewellery goes, have you checked out etsy? Lots of interesting, custom made things. I also like them as a source of vintage costume jewellery (I like jewellery from the 70s and 60s, but other eras may appeal to you). You don't have to go high end (like Chanel or Lanvin), there are brands like Trifari that are well made, interesting and generally inexpensive.

La Ped- Glad I have company in the not being a topper person :). I think concentrating on stand alone tops are the way to go for me.
Coats it seems I like probably because they are looser fitting.

Sarah- I have so many helpful thoughts rattling around in my head from everyone's 30 x 30 threads so I am glad I could contribute some food for thought for you.

Sterling- Cozy comfort for home. Yes!. Knee surgery did go well, much better then the other knee did so I am thrilled.

Toban- sounds like many of us are struggling with the same balance of home vs out in the world clothes. I got Business Casual OK but Stylish Non-Business Casual seems quite tricky.

Thanks all for your responses and your threads.

Thanks for sharing! You have a lovely top collection.

The dichotomy of work and home dressing is an interesting one and I've been thinking about it a lot lately. It's only recently that I started to pay attention to my 'weekend' capsule. With one telework day, it's 3 of the 7 days now, plus I often dress casually one day at work, so my 'casual' wardrobe is nearly equal in needs to my 'work' wardrobe. I tended to wear my work clothes all week long because I didn't know how else to be 'stylish' but I felt out of place. Plus, my husband dresses very casually for work, so I was out of sync with him. I didn't know how to bring the 'structure' elements of my work wardrobe into my casual wardrobe and generally felt sloppy. Angie's blog posts feature a lot of smart casual and business casual looks, plus the WIWs of YLF forumites, all really helped me expand my more casual capsule and still feel stylish. Such as incorporating new silhouettes and color combinations.

No apologies necessary. Glad you can catch up with us as time permits.

What you learned so far is very interesting to me. I feel exactly the same way. Being stylish in the work world is really important but when I am home I want cozy comfort. So I have a question. I sometimes chid myself for getting "dressed up for the world" and then coming home and wearing my oldest/most comfortable clothes with my significant other. That feels oddly wrong to me.

I'm glad you found you like coat-like toppers (YAY Bonnie). I really think they can amp up your style quotient. Artisan jewelry is another great idea. I have seen some really amazing jewelry out there and it doesn't have to be expensive. One of my favorite pairs of earrings was purchased at an art fair. I get comments on the them often.

I hope the knee surgery went well and that the next couple of weeks go swiftly for you.

These are such fascinating insights. Wanting to feel comfy at home vs. wanting to feel stylish out and about - YES. I think I am much the same. Thank you for articulating that so well. And also the idea that one might have different desires for variety in one’s home vs. out and about wardrobes. You have given me lots to think about.

I’m sorry that I don’t have any tips/resources to suggest. I just think you have done such a good job already of pinpointing strategies such as coat-like toppers, artisan jewelry, and statement shoes. “Subdued arty” is a great descriptor for the items you have posted.

I hope your surgery goes well and I wish you *comfort* for your recovery period. I look forward to hearing more about how your thoughts develop.

Lynn, I'm just like you in that a lot of toppers feel too fussy for me. At home, I alternate between a couple of hoodies with cool graphics on them -- they are just right temperature-wise, and easy to throw on over anything, plus they slide under coats easily. I *wish* I could find a more presentable topper as easy to wear as a hoodie (I do have one "good" hoodie that is black, wool, and more tailored).

Also -- you have some really cool, standalone tops, which I think helps solve the problem of not enjoying toppers. If some element of your outfit provides extra interest, maybe the third piece isn't so necessary.

Oh yeah -- and the struggle to dial in the right number of at-home pieces. I feel you. I definitely prefer to add variety to my out-and-about options, and wear my grubby chore clothes on repeat, despite the fact that wear tracking (which I'm finally doing!) indicates my home-only clothes are my highest-wear items.

Sorry to have mostly disappeared this last week. I have had a lot
going on. I am just now trying to catch up with everyone else’s 30 x 30
threads.

I am now up to 28 items. I just finished adding most of these to my finds.

- 4 jeans- medium dark rinse, black, red & grey. The grey was a good addition.

- 2 yoga pants, 2 joggers, 1 leggings- I only wear these at home

- 1 pair ponte pants

- 3 tee shirts- black/ecru stripe, black/grey stripe, “arty” stripe

- 4 tunic length knit tops- slate blue embroidered waffle knit, red waffle knit, tie dyed knit, black/speckled sweatshirt

- 2 sweaters- red and Nic & Zoe blue/black

- 2 tunic length sweaters- purple cowl, teal

- 4 Toppers: black knee length sweater coat, black waterfall cardigan, black cashmere ruffled shawl, embroidered floral paisley fur trimmed shawl

- Coats: light and heavy weight down (not counting these)

- 4 shoes: Blondo suede booties (small heel), Born booties (flat), high top sneakers (Clarks), Ecco sneakers. All black

I also have a wool black/teal sweater coat I bought in NZ that I would have worn if I had a black or teal top that matched.

My learning from this week:

Since I started paying attention to when I feel joy in my
clothes I realized that it is “feeling stylish” that makes me happy when
I am out and about in the world. At home, it is feeling comfy that makes me happy, not feeling stylish.

At home, I am totally happy repeating outfits. So, I need just enough items to get me through a laundry cycle (~10 days). I need to
be very particular about the comfort of items as that is happiness factor.

Even though I spend more time @ home I will need more items and variety in my “out in the world” wardrobe.

I need to define in more detail what makes me feel stylish.

I like wearing what I would call subdued arty clothes (tie-dyed tunic, fur trimmed embroidered shawl, arty tee)

This is a big one- I know, I said I did not like toppers, but I had an aha moment reading Bonnie's old thread https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....replies=41.
I realized it is indoor toppers that I do not like, I prefer to just change
to a heavier weight top if I am cold. However I really like “coat
like” toppers if they are looser fitting. This week I wore a sweater coat and some shawls. I really enjoyed them and felt more stylish
wearing them versus my down coat. So I think one way I can up the style factor in my everyday is to add more coat like toppers. I seem
to especially like poncho’s/shawls.

I also want to focus on artisan jewelry and maybe add some statement shoes as a way to add interest.

I will mostly be in PJ’s and comfort clothes the next couple of weeks while recuperating from knee surgery. So I am going to take my learnings from the last 2 weeks and work on the “with purpose” part of my wardrobe goals ie the planning.

My primary goal will be to better define what “feels stylish” to me. I feel some Pinterest time coming I will also read some of Angie's older threads in the archives.

I would greatly appreciate any tips/resources you might have.

I attached pictures of my tops and toppers

Here are my previous 30 x 30 threads:
