Oh, how do I love these transitional outfits! My favorites are 1,3,5 and 10. I really like the skirt in 10.
Re: corduroys. They make very nice, classic cut ones now. The old idea of a "frumpy" corduroy is not so much about the corduroy itself than about an ill-fitting, badly cut pair of "one size fits all" pants in a softer material that doesn't forgive anything. But we're not talking about that, right? Try Talbots, where they have a fun selection of bright corduroys in various cuts.

I do wear the slouchy BF with booties formula (see picture). I think it would look terrific with oversized skinny corduroys. In the picture below, you will see that I offset the bottom's roominess with a large, chunky necklace. I found this strategy to work well with full bottoms.

I agree with Suz about boots and this awkward moment when it's Fall, ergo boot season, but too hot for tights. I guess this early season can be for oxfords, maryjanes and shooties.

Wow! I think all of these still look very current and great on you. I really love that cardigan and I agree with Angie in that my favorites are #5 and #8. I am a fan of cords and think they are great in fall and winter with sweaters!

8-10 is just gorgeous on you, Lyn, and definitely feels current! Wow!

I also love #6 -- the soft textural grey with the pop of colour!

I really like how these outfits show the transition from "warm" autumn (tube skirt) to "cooler" autumn (#8). It's a great image for how our outfits need to adapt to the weather as the weeks go on.

Oh - and I totally understand what you are saying about the bootie-boot progression. We get so few months when we can go without hose that it is all about wearing footwear that works without hose during that time. The idea of putting on boots when it is still warm is just peculiar to me. I have to wear them 6 months a year -- do I really want to add another day? ;)

Thanks ladies for chimming in with such a wise comments. To make it clear, these outfits are my early fall/indian summer outfits, only. As Suz, I do have almost 8 mini seasons, and I need to dress accordingly.

Inge: It's not about bare feet in the booties, but more about wearing booties without thights or hose, which is a look not really common in my neck of woods. I mean we here wear booties only in okt/now if it's cold/rainy/snowy, but then it's at least some kind of sheers, too.(Or thights/hose, but I love them best with opaques for the long and lean looking legs-and that is more associated to winter than to fall, to me). I own 2 black ankle booties at the moment which I love(and planning to ad one more.-)), but none of them seems bare legs appropiate to me, for a matter. I wear one today(see it in the pictie), but it's with black sheers, AND the so called refreshers:-). Both the skirt(another tube but with a great tweedy print) and the crew neck short sleeve (it has pewter studs in form of some fleur de lis) knitted sweater are new, bought them in the weekend:-).

Unfrumped: you are so kind, thank you:-).

Ingunn: Yes, I do feel like wearing them again, if the weather will cooperate again. As today fall showed us it's real teeth-and who knew I will have to wear sheers today...13°C, raining all day, gloomy, and all:-((. So then, booties are OK, yeay!

Caro: Great ideea with the long boots to the last 2 outfits, and I expect to wear them like so, more closer to winter. Again, I feel like I cannot wear long boots without thights/hose/opaques/ and I also do not own a pair which is more fall appropiate. All I have is a black flat suede, and a dark brown leather one with moderate heel, and I wear these with thights, in winter only. Yet, I have just returned a pair of knee length taupe boots, that I thought will do for fall, but to be really honest, they made my calves gigormiously wide, and I just couldn't stand the look.

Jackiec: I love this(and other tube) skirts, and am happy I could serve some inspiration. Now, I can't wait to see your styling:-)

I also agree with Deborah. Booties would be a fun addition. And I'm loving your first photo with the tube skirt. I just got that one (or similar) and love how you paired it with a white denim jacket and bright bag/shoes. Great idea

Agreeing with Deborah - great modern classic looks. Given that you wear skirts what about some long boots? I can see them looking great on you - especially with the last two outfits.

Lyn, all these are great outfits. I think the main indicator is wether you feel like wearing them or not. If you do, then everything should be fine. I particularly love the white with fall colors, and the red/grey together is beautiful, too.

Oh absolutely, Lyn, you have some really beautiful pieces in your wardrobe, and great essentials for layering too. Isn't it fun when we can shop our own closets when the new season comes along? Of course, adding a new piece here and there to switch things up is fun too. I like Deborah's suggestion of trying ankle boots or booties with skirts and dresses for a different silhouette.
(ETA: perhaps you can wear no-show socks with the ankle boots if you don't like to wear them sans socks?)

Debs, thanx so much for the "consistent" word to my looks, as it gives me hopes my looks will eventually make into a real "me style" which I aim for, at the very end. And, oh, yes-the booties will come out to play when colder with thights(esp opaques), but is still 15-18°C by us, and I never did bare feet with ankle boots, should I? (That is very uncommon here, where I live). But, hmm, will have to think about, thank you for the ideea.

Lyn, I think your outfits look fab. I don't see anything that specifically dates any of them. Your look is very modern classic with a bit of trend I think and it's very consistent. My only suggestion would be to maybe try so e ankle boots with your skirts? For me that just adds a little edge to a classic look.

The outfit you described with the rolled jeans sounds very cool and I would like to see that.

Came back to say, it is clear I desperately need some non jeans pants but am so sick of the black ones. I know cords usually don't get a lot of love on the YLF, and is long time since I have had a pair myself, too, but do you think a BF cut could work for smart casual office look? I thought will roll them up to some ankle boots and wear with fluid fit sweaters/shirts and moto blazers? Does somebody wear this kind of look? I would be so greatful for some inspiration picties, I didn't found too many to date, neither on the pinterest somehow...:-(.

...are they still good?

Just tumbled across some of my last year's fall wiw picties unfortunately never posted:-((. Nevertheless, I was more than delighted to feel the same excitement as if have been shopping them new, right now. Despite so many items calling my name in the shops right now (esp. leather like indoor jackets), I still can't wait to wear my old outfits again. Maybe I can curbe my shopping mood with them a bit...

-1-2. bl&w tube skirt outfit, which I wore sans denim jacket in spring/summer, too. I see adding a floral scarf makes it more autumnal, yeay!

-3-5. the floral mix media twin set was bought for the black pinstripe straight legs in nr 5, but it's also great with my white denim skirt, isn't it?

-6-7. a 3-4 yrs old outfit in a grey color scheme. Still love it, and have all the pieces...hmm.

8-9 This is my favorite. The autumnal splash skirt is similar to one Shannon has. It could even qualify as trendy for the dark red, fluid fit and a cowl neck sleeveless shell underneath the suedelike cascade jacket. Oh well, trendy or not, I like these colors a lot!

10. Oh and my leather trimmed, assimetric front split checkered skirt will be a workhorse this year, too.

What do you say? Any suggestions for improvement, or updating this outfits to 2014 will be great appreciated! Thanx for looking and please don't hold in your feedbacks of any kind:-)
