And yes, there is color and the developer. I mix a teaspoon each of the color and the developer with a couple teaspoons of conditioner, put it on my hair and leave it on while I wash and shave my legs. I then rinse it and do another round of just conditioner.<br /> One thing I did notice was that they have a new creme version which I picked up once, and with that one, there is twice as much developer as color (ounce for ounce) and so I mixed accordingly to keep the same proportions... does that make sense?</p> <p>And, it's important to note that when you wash your hair with conditioner, you need to do just that... wash it. I tried the baking soda thing a couple times and it left my hair way too stripped. I wash my hair with conditioner every day and 3 days a week I add a little bit of hair color into the conditioner. In fact, it was a nice break and gave me time to focus on some home redecorating (so I guess I was still shopping, just in different stores)</p> <p>Lessons learned:<br /> I think my biggest lesson was that I don't need to always be adding new things to feel stylish. I can mix a few new items with last years stuff (most of my closet is less than 2 years old) and still feel fab. </p> <p>Along those lines, I also learned that I don't need a terribly large wardrobe to feel stylish. As long as everything in my closet fits and flatters, I can do with a smallish wardrobe and always have something to wear.</p> <p>I also learned to look back at the previous season and remember what I felt was missing. An example of this was remembering last spring, when it was still cold and rainy, I never felt that I had stylish loungewear-type clothes. I had plenty of MOTG wear, but when I was wanting to hunker down at home and feel cozy, my selection was pathetic. Thus, the three more casual knitwear items to fill this need.... and the cardigans.</p> <p>And finally, I learned to remind myself that the stores will still be there next year with more fab stuff. Often we see something that we love, but don't need, and have a hard time leaving it behind. I have to tell myself that I am done shopping for this season, and next season there will be more fab stuff to buy.</p> <p>Suz. I think you're right about the teal dress. It isn't quite my normal style, but I still got wear out of it, so I'll keep it. </p> <p>And to Carole's question... yes, I do plan to continue this strategy through next year. My plan was to go with 13 items for 2013, and then I noticed that I have 13 categories of clothing... [casual summer dresses, smarter summer dresses, winter/fall dresses, jeans/pants, summer tops, winter blouses, pullover sweaters, summer toppers, cardigans, jackets, summer shoes, winter shoes, transitional weather shoes.] So my plan is to replace one item from each category next year. That should make it easy. I will identify which item from each category has seen it's better days and when I find the replacement item, in with the new, out with the old!</p> <p>ETA- oh, and someone mentioned that I didn't buy any jeans/slacks this year. Yes, my jeans collection was full and there were none that I felt the need to replace. This was actually a good lesson in not filling an entire category in one year.
