What about a navy, if a soft, knitted texture? It would be simple, but cozy.

I like the plaid with it! Agree that it would be better inside the collar though. (As an aside, I almost always - like 95% of the time) wear my scarves inside my coat collar. I also never button my coats all the way to the top though so there's lots of room for the scarf to show.)

I love the scarf in pic 3 - tucked inside the coat it should look wonderful.

Good advice--thanks for weighing in.

Did not try sweater, Angie--although it's still available. As I recall I was concerned it was somewhat short for my usual ensembles. I guess that would give a great coat-ensemble look, though, which is hard to come by ! Sort of like an updated Queen E.

Also I saw the matching scarf that has cream or blush with it and ruled that out as the fabrication and extra color did not seem to complement the coat.

What a great coat! I love the burgundy and navy pattern. I agree with others that a scarf inside the coat might work better. I like those big infinity knitted ones to keep me warm on extra cold days.

I agree with Firecracker, 100%. Have you tried the matching sweater with this coat - it's a divine look.

What Firecracker said+ if you would still like a scarf outside the collar(I sometimes need one when very cold), I would try a plain (infinty?) one in one of the color of that coat(navy or burgundy?).

Firecracker, you're probably right, as usual! Thanks--I appreciate that. I'm not used to having the stand collar so may be gearing up for what isn't needed.
I think you've helped me for sure not try to add anything just to get a good exterior match--maybe work on gloves! If I wear a scarf more "inside" the coat I probably have a few solid, thinner ones that give some insulation for drafts, or maybe are part of the underlying outfit in winter, but don't really try to be part of the coat look.

unfrumped, I'm not loving the scarves with this coat. I am a fan of the stand collar by itself; it's such an elegant and simple face-highlighting shape. I would consider trying a scarf inside the coat and leaving the top button (or two) undone. I'm partial to the print one, in 3, with the pattern in the coat, and it looks thin enough that it might work inside the collar, too.

In a month or so it'll be cool enough for this burgundy-navy coat, but I realized I'm a big scarf-muffler wearer and have usually had very neutral coats, and no prints, so my scarves contain lots of pink, berry, teal, purple, or taupey "face colors".

This coat has a convertible stand collar so can go scarf-less, but still I am sorting out if I have some options, since it is already colorful.

Shown are my existing 4 top contenders.
The first 2 ( pics 1-3) are possible for bold pattern mixing as have some related colors with some gold-mustard. #3 can be folded to show more of the mustard/blue/pink than the teal.

The next 2 are solid blush and a blush-burgundy, shown as possible options for when I don't want much distraction.

Solid mustard would look good with the coat, I think, and true white might be better and though these are not what I choose for happy-face color, there would be the surrounding deeper colors..

I rather like the bold print-mixing-especially plaid, since I think plaid can mix with other prints very well--what say you--too wacky? Also, if I were to get a scarf specifically for the coat (of course I'm surely not going to get yet another scarf, but just, what IF !!) what do you think would look good but still maybe "happy"--for example, navy would work but is draining by itself.
