I missed this post at first, and wanted to chime in with how right you are! It gives me a way to "experiment with a look" on someone else that I might never try on myself, alerts me to new things to look for (I am so going to stock up on full length bootcuts now that I know they in force at retail). and trains my eye to adjust before I right off a style completely. All on gorgeous, stylish, real people who live real lives and don't have an army of professionals following them around making them airbrushed unrealistic perfection.

Thanks for recognizing this and posting about it!

Thank you Angie for encouraging us to personalize our style :)

Not only are we different in shape and coloring, but climate and lifestyle too. Angies Seattle summer wear is early spring, late fall wear for those of us whose summers are in the 90s with humidity, for example.
Our overall needs are all different, but its fun when we intersect!
Also our availability is very different. Since we're scattered around the world, we have access to different shops, which is always fun to see.

My dear, em. Good observation.

THERE IS NO ONE WAY TO BE STYLISH. Style starts and ends with a strong sense of self, and THAT'S the key to creating, maintaining and evolving a style that makes you feel fabulous.

One of the most important aspects about fashion and style is to appreciate a look on someone else that is very different to your own. You are not them and they are not you. Needs and sartorial preferences are different for good reason. We can be inspired by another person's style because it might spark something off. Then we MAKE IT OUR OWN.

I have hundreds of clients, and there are similarities between some, but no one looks exactly the same. No one wants to dress exactly the way I do and that's a good thing! They are all encouraged to make their look PERSONAL. I love their look FOR THEM, and not for me.

So keep poison eye to a minimum, keep an open mind, and have empathy and understanding for another who wants to dress and feel fabulous their way.

Yes! It is not about the clothes, it is about us in the clothes and each one of us is unique.

Yep! Several things have sprung out at me recently that are fantastic on other people, even though they are awful on me:

pencil skirts (actually I've known this one for a while)

yellowy/brownish kinds of colors

short, wide-legged pants

chino pants

trapeze/swing dresses & shifts

I know there are more, including some I've snorted at: "why do they even MAKE that?" And then someone shows up here looking fab in it. It's really cool to see how individual we all are.

I was reading other people's posts (especially Angie's capsule wardrobes) and it never fails to amaze me how DIFFERENT we all are with respect to body shape, coloring, and preferences. I would never (could never) wear any of her clothing, and I'll bet she couldn't wear mine. And yet we're all a fine looking bevy of dames.
