I've never heard of wearing multiple slips, but I've never worn terribly sheer skirts either. At least not to my knowledge.

I would opt for a more opaque single slip to cut down on bulk and fuss. I hate having too many things going on around my waist.

The only time I've worn multiple slips was as a child in the 50's wearing a slip under multiple net layers in rainbow colors that made your skirt stand out as far as possible.
I'd get some slips in an opaque fabric do multiples aren't needed .

I've only ever worn one at a time. I think your mom may have worn multiples to deal with the level of coverage that older, lighter nylon slips (didn't) have, or it may even be that she just learned it from her mom and never questioned it, or it may be that she was extremely extremely modest and concerned about any possible see-through.

A single slip should be sufficient coverage. If it isn't, then you should replace your slip with a better, heavier weight slip. Wearing multiple layers is a hassle! Wearing a skirt plus slip plus more slips it a exponential hassle!

You're the first one I've met that does.

I must admit that I've gotten wise over the years. I no longer buy any dress or skirt that's not lined. This saves me the trouble of figuring out which slip to wear underneath. That said, I still have a collection of slips and half slips in various lengths and colors. I won't be caught not wearing a slip unless it's a thick fabric like denim that's definitely not see-through.

Hi everyone, I'm new here and have a question about slips.

I have a few very sheer skirts and I always wear 2 or 3 half slips underneath for thickness and also to prevent see-through. I have always done this as my mother used to wear layers of slips as well and I guess I just grew up thinking that was normal!

I recently said something to a friend of mine who also had a sheer skirt and was complaining about the fact that it was see-through and she said she had never heard of wearing more than one slip at a time.

Am I the only one who does this? Thanks!

Elaine
