I think it will be sassy and spirited and definitely offer opportunity for edginess. I have 4 right ear (3 lobe, 1 cartilage) and 2 left. It's fun to play with earring looks/asymmetry, and hope you love it!

RE migraines: Magnesium supplementation helped my migraines tremendously.

Getting back to migraines, since I am a big sufferer. Botox does help, and I do use it. It involves 30 or so shots distributed all over your head, neck and shoulders. Unlike cosmetic Botox, it doesn't stop your facial expressions if it is done properly. Also, I'm not sure about Angie's friends, but it doesn't hurt that much.

Daith piercings are of the center cartilage of the ear. There is no definitive proof that they help migraines, but it doesn't harm anything either. Lots of things have been talked about as helping migraines, including face lifts! It doesn't mean we should run out and do it!

Back to the post topic, (sorry, responsible physician took over for a moment). Yes, I like the look. Many people have multiples, and with short hair, I think it's a good way to go.

Had to share... Chatted with a young colleague who has multiple piercings and asked where I should go to have it done. She jokingly asked me what had inspired me and was I having a mid life crisis lol. It was all in fun and no offence meant or taken. Hmmmm!

Anyway she recommended a reputable tattooist / piercing place and I checked out pricing and think I will go ahead soon. I'm going with my gut feeling and think I will just get another earlobe piercing in my left ear (this is the shorter side of my hair cut and the side I sometimes tuck behind my ear:). I'm having a day procedure in 3 weeks (routine colonoscopy) so may do it after that as I think I recall they prefer no jewellery at all and I wouldn't be able to remove the new earring xx

I got multiple piercings in one ear when I was in my early twenties, mostly DIYs, ouch. It looked great with my short spiky blond hair and fit in well with my punk influenced (what I considered to be) rebellious style at the time. I've never been into tattoos so it was a good choice for me. I wore either studs or small hoops that went from small to larger closer to my lobe.

I took them out when I was in my 30s and they've never fully grown over. I doubt that I could go there again with the look that I have now.

They would definitely suit your style Deborah. I wonder, could you dabble in cuffs before you take the plunge?

Thanks for your thoughts, much appreciated. It's been so long since I had my ears pierced initially that I'm not even sure where to get them done now. It's used to be the pharmacy was where you would go and they used the gun. I'm just thinking of an additional ear lobe piercing. I will check out where to go. We have an excellent tattooist in town so I might enquire there also. I think if I went symmetric and had an extra in each lobe I could choose when I wore warring in both and when I wanted to create an asymmetric look. Will keep you posted:)

My only concern now thanks to Anna's link is that maybe I need to re think given it appears I may be in the middle of a mid life crisis

Last year I got an extra piercing in one of my earlobes, so I now have two piercings in one ear. I am extremely happy that I did it. I was agonizing over whether to get a second piercing in both ears or just one; I chose to do just one because I wanted something a little different. I am very happy that I went with the one, because it just feels a little less conventional and fun.

Sometimes I wish I had more piercings, but I think the further you go up the ear, the more painful they get (?). I also am growing out my hair, so no one generally sees my earrings anyway, unless I put my hair up. But I am open to getting more piercings in the future.

ETA: I am 43.

I have a total of 7 piercings between both ears. I wear one pair of studs in the initial holes, and that's it. The other holes will never close (piercings, once healed, never close for me), but I don't ever use them.

I like ear cuffs and the ear creepers - earrings that "climb" up the edge of the ear. There are so many alternatives now to additional piercings.

That said, it is your body, and if you are feeling inspired to have an additional piercing or two or three, go for it. I don't think age has a thing to do with it.

Go for it! I vote asymmetrical, and more than one extra piercing.

I wear three small fat hoops in one ear, and two in the other (although the second hoop is almost at the cartilage, so they are really far apart -- like a split in bowling!).

I think it is worth a go, I tend to prefer it asymetrical for some reason.

I have had issues with my single piercings getting infected and I still am very careful with them, so I am only sticking to one. I think with lovely choices of earrings multiple piercing can look wonderful.

When I was about 22 I was longing to get my belly button pierced but my issues with infections in my ear put me off. Not on my radar now though LOL.

I have an additional piercing in my right ear that I've had for the last 40(!) years. It was done with a needle and ice at a party when I was 18. I like the asymmetry of it and usually wear a stud or small hoop in the additional hole. There are various reasons, I believe, and as K2 suggested, not to be pierced with a piercing gun.

I have a "thing" about ear holes: If I have them, they need to be filled -- I even paint and workout in earrings (although very simple ones). As a result, I've kept it simple: to one per ear. I do think I could do a second piercing in one lobe, if a wore, say, a single stud in it, no matter what I wore in the others. I'm also a stickler for lighter earrings, since I'm trying to keep my lobes from stretching.

I have a pair of pearl earrings similar to the ones below (and identical to the ones Inge recently posted) and I love Gaylene's pics! I may well explore some of these options for a bit more fashion edge in the ears!

I am, of course, am completely supportive of people doing what floats their boat. Jewelry should be fun!

I have symmetrical standard ear piercings plus a cartilage piercing in just my left ear just a bit higher than that seen below. The photo is not my ear but very similar to what I have and how I style it: usually a simple gold hoop plus a stud like the one shown below (same size as in ear pic) up above. In other words: delicate feminine styling most of the time.

I got the cartilage piercing when I was 18 many years ago and I have never regretted it.

I prefer a more subdued look like in the first picture, but there are lots of more dramatic cuffs out there. Might give you a way to test the look before committing to more permanent piercings?

I got my first piercing as a kid (most kids in India do) and got another piercing in each lobe when I was 16. I still wear earrings in BOTH.

However, I'm not that experimentative. I wear a small diamond stud for the top piercing....always have. I don't change that out at all, except for when I wear big & small pearl studs in both. I have a matching set I bought.

Until a few years back I used to wear long dangly earrings for the bottom hole and the same diamond stud for the top piercing, like #4. Never looked odd to me! These days I wear bigger diamond studs for the lower piercing and smaller single-stone studs for the piercing above.

I say - go for it!

Go for it. I like the look of a second hole in both ears, but you should do what you like best. Doing a hoop in the first hole then a stud in the second always looks nice, or two studs. Especially with short hair it looks great. I have had 3 holes in my ears in both for 20 years had them since I was 13 years old although I rarely use the 3rd hole piercing.

I've had asymmetrical piercings for years, 3 lobe and 1 cartilage in left ear and single love piercing in other. I got a asymmetrical hair cut about a year ago (like Shevia/Jamie) but then only my right ear showed. I recently had to got another cartilage piercing on that side as I realized how much I enjoyed the little big of edge it provided (even at 52 I still like that) I do a variation of studs and small hoops (hoops in cartilage piercings) mostly because I don't take out my earrings and find other earring difficult to sleep in. I will periodically change up the main earring for the day tho. I don't know if you are thinking of lobe or cartilage, but I highly recommend (for cartilage for sure) that you go to a tattoo/piercing place for that as they use a needle and usually a hoop earring which turns easier. A piercing gun makes a bump behind where it pushes the skin and is I think is harder to heal and more prone to infection.

Really interesting, Angie - I've never heard of that. I have a friend suffering from migraines, maybe this is something she could try.

These pictures look familiar I started assembling a pin board of different piercing looks last fall - in prep for getting some additional holes done. I had two additional holes pierced into my right lobe, but one of them didn't heal properly (resulting in a trip to the emergency room for a massive infection , and removal of both earrings). I think the look is really cool and elegant - and I wish I had been able to make it work. I vote : do it!
