Sandals for warm, wet conditions on paved surfaces, but dirt and muck call for something more substantial—like my Sloggers. They work with bare feet or socks, depending on the temperature, and come in lots of colors and designs. Bonus: super easy to hose off when they are grotty.

Angie, my son's father uses "slippers" the way they do in West Africa, where he's from, for things I'd call "flip-flops". Is that what you're talking about, or do you mean house shoes, per N American usage?

I grew up in very hot and humid Hong Kong where Summers are tropically wet. There was no fighting the rain and we walked everywhere! So you just wore sandals and got wet. They dried fast though.

When we walked to school, we wore rubber slippers and packed our shoes and socks to put on at school.

Yuck, I think I might buy an inexpensive pair of runners from Target or something, and just wreck them over the summer and toss them at the end ... although if it's super-wet, I'd probably suffer with my Hunter rain boots ... yes they would look ridiculous with shorts lol!

Pick yer poison! Sweat or mudwater, your feet are going to be wet. Not necessarily your toes--all those shoes have closed toes, and many of them do not have permeable fabric for the toes, even though other parts of the upper are open or permeable.

Yeah, I wouldn’t like sandals in those conditions either. I wear big old neoprene workboots at the ranch in those conditions but that may be overkill. I like notsaf’s suggestions.

I am in the minority! I do not like mud between my toes. I'd recommend Blundstones or short wellies in whatever color suits you. I've had the exact ones below from Sam Edleman for a few years and they're holding strong. There are also new ones from Everlane you might like (a bit more rugged!).

I agree with not fighting the water--go with the flow. Tevas, Crocs, or off-brand equivalents. For when it's really wet, I have watershoes from Target.

Some of these might look "normal" enough for the ball game. https://www.divein.com/water-shoes/

I do like sport sandals for wet weather if it's also miserably hot. For wet sports fields/dog parks/etc, I see a lot of Hunter boots and other wellies. I have a very cheap but somewhat cute pair from a farm supply store, nowhere near the status symbol of Hunters, but not as hot on the feet as Bogs or other neoprene.

In my city the summers are quite often rainy and I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of time thinking what to wear so I could be stylish, covered AND allow my feet to breathe. For several years my solution to this were perforated leather summer boots - worn with skirt or short dress (this was before the midi length trend). Somehow the feeling of skinny jeans in warm rainy weather wasn’t appealing so I preferred this rather unpopular combination. I’ve seen similar outfit with shorts on other women - both dressy and casual ones.
This year however after embracing the midi dresses and skirts I needed different shoe solution (also the boots dyed few yers ago and I didn’t replace them). Decided on faux leather cheap sneakers to try how it will work. It was again a very rainy summer and the sneaks did they job fabulously despite the low price - I felt properly covered and on trend and they worked with the midi lengths.
I know that the summer boots are a pretty specific case but hope this could give you some ideas for your search.

I’d wear an old pair of Salomon hiking shoes, probably. Or Tevas as SarahD8 suggested. Nearly all of our precipitation comes in the form of snow, so I would want some kind of boots.

Tevas and just hose them down/wash them periodically?
Seattle tends to be pretty dry during the summers so I don't have much experience with warm and rainy/muddy. But that's what I'd wear to the beach.

Otherwise leather sandals, I save the fabric ones for sunny days. Normally most of our rain is in early spring though, and my ON booties keep my feet bone dry.

I used to start with a either duck boots, or moccasins. They are short enough that you can wear w normal jeans and the leather uppers allow for breathability. When it was warmer, I go with a pair of dark tennis shoes or Toms with the idea that they'd be thrown in the laundry and be tossed at the end of the season.

This spring and summer were hot and wet, and my days at the muddy ball fields wearing knee-high rain boots in 80F+ weather were the very definition of misery.

I tried hiking boots, but the mesh fabric on the side only collected the dirt and muck and I tired of scrubbing them every 3 days.

I was looking at a short/low-profile muck type of boot, like this BOGS one, but I worry about the lack of breathability...

I am curious to know what you all wear on your feet when dealing with wet, muddy, warm/hot weather?
