Cute Wendi! I think there was actually one of those by Kut from the Kloth in black at the Nordstrom Rack (where I picked up my Michael Kors), but it was in the wrong size for me. I have a couple of brown cardigans and sweaters, but my main neutrals are black, white, navy and grey. Trying to stay to a limited color palette...but it will take awhile, as I previously hadn't shopped with a particular color palette in mind. I'm looking forward to having most items that can be mixed and matched!

Pretty jacket! I think the moto jackets are very wearable; they seem somehow classic and trendy at the same time. I am planning to get one, too, but because I'm losing weight and working out, I'm going to buy a cheaper faux leather one this year, and maybe in a couple years I'll upgrade to real leather when my size is more final.

I wear a lot of black, so I'm going to get a tan or cognac jacket. I think it will be a good way to lighten up my look and bookend better with my blonde hair. I'm thinking of this one:
http://www.kutfromthekloth.com.....k12547.htm

I'm actually tempted to get it in fuchsia, since it's one of my favorite colors. I might order both fuchsia and tan, and try them with my wardrobe to see which one works better for me.

Welcome, Stephanie! I agree that a black moto, unless it's studded and distressed, can work with a wide range of pieces. I don't have one in leather, but I wear my ponte version constantly, and I'm hardly "tough." If you love it and it fits well, you can find ways to make it sing in your wardrobe. I think you have to comment on posts for a bit before you can post pictures directly on the forum, but you can upload photos to flickr or photobucket and provide a link if you want feedback on the jacket with you wearing it.

Thanks everyone! So far, it sounds like I should keep the black leather and just make sure to wear other more girlie pieces (like dresses, scarfs, etc.) to make it a little less "tough."

I can def. relate to the "tough" vibe. I just bought a black leather moto (aka the "Spiegel lemming") and shortly after black ankle booties. I do love black but still, the first thing I focused on when I tried them on together was that they were a little "tough" looking. But, I think I'm warming up to the idea as I will likely also wear the jacket with a lot of darker denim and pants as well as with other shoes (like gray and taupe/tan) and there are some days when I just want to look a little tougher anyway. The other thing is what you choose to wear with the jacket - I think I would add a scarf when it's cold and probably try to wear more feminine things under the jacket, including jewelry to help balanced out any "toughness."

I was just thinking about this yesterday as I was admiring the look posted here (http://www.puttingmetogether.c.....-days.html) and wondering if I would like to get a black moto for the fall.

I, too, struggle with styling it (in my mind) because my cool-weather wardrobe includes black boots most days and I think that black moto + black boots is too tough (or just too much black or too much leather) for me. I like the look with this dress (below), but in my NorCal town, I think in real life if it is cold enough for a moto, it will be too cold for bare legs. You might want to search Pinterest or Polyvore for "black moto" to get some more ideas of how it can be worn and to see if those styles suit you.

I have a modern classic style also and I love moto jackets! I love to wear them with a sheath dress! Love the mix edgy/classic.
Ivory leather is high maintenance, you can always try a brown leather.

Hi!

I'm new to the forum...and have enjoyed learning more about fashion through Angie's wonderful posts (and getting some great inspiration from you ladies on the forum). I've just bought my first moto jacket--it is a Michael Kors from Nordstrom Rack in black leather. It fits well in a size xs, but I'm trying to decide whether to keep or whether I should get one in a different color. I'm 5'6", dark brown hair, bluish/hazel eyes, and slender. Black is supposed to be a good color for me (as I'm in the winter color palette), but I'm wondering if it is too "tough." I tend more towards preppy/modern classic style. Maybe my eye just needs to adjust to a black moto (as I know it's very trendy this year...and is a "classic" piece)? I tend to keep things for a very long time and definitely want a timeless piece that will not be out of style in a few short years. Any votes whether to get black or ivory? I'm somewhat concerned that ivory leather would be difficult to keep clean long-term. Thanks in advance for your insight!
