Thank you all so much! It's nice to go into this job with some fashion confidence!

I hope to be able to add a jacket or two to the wardrobe soon. And I'd love to add a gray pencil skirt as well. I find this is such a hard time to shop (at least for me); I'm tempted by all the winter clothing clearance deals I find, but Spring is just around the corner and the things that will make that transition aren't always on sale.

Karlie - The other YLF ladies have already made the comments and insight that I would have made, so I will just tell you congratulations on the new chapeter in your life. I look forward to seeing more of your new "working mom" style.

Well done, Karlie. Tucking suits you well and I really like those shoes - I would wear them in a heartbeat!.
My only suggestion would be to add a wider belt in the outfit #1 to break up the skirt.

You did well, Karlie! Your outfits look really nice. Well done :)

You can absolutely tuck and the round toe shoes are great.

Oh, and I do like the shoes. I think a pointed or tapered toe would look sharper, but those types are also inevitably less comfortable. I like the color and texture of your pumps. I think you should get the dove grey pair IN ADDITION to this pair. (-:

Hi, you look very professional. I would like to see more accessories. A wide belt at the top of the skirt; a bold necklace or scarf and skinny belt with the pants outfit.

The colors see to suit you. Do you feel fab?

Congratulations on your major transition. I think you're off to a wonderful start! Your outfits looks great. The belt works, and I really like your shoes. You might pick up a jacket or two as a next step - the Gap and BR have some that are fairly reasonable, and it's easy to get discounts fairly often. Good luck with you new job!

Oooh; I love all of your outfits. #2 is my favorite.

#1) Sure you can tuck :)
#2) I think the skinny belt looks great! Wider belt would look weird, IMHO.

I’ve been absent from the forum for some time (and was never even a regular poster), but I’m making a major life transition and need some fashion guidance. YLF is the only place I trust for that! So, hi! Nice to see everyone again! :)

After being at home for many, many years, my youngest has started Kindergarten and I’ve taken a full-time position in an office setting. I’m working for a local real estate association in their membership department. I don’t get the feeling that the fashion vibe is overly conservative, but I will be meeting with and recruiting members, so I need to look put together and professional.

Below are a few new things I picked up. The pants are the only thing that isn’t new; I also have a black pair as well as a gray dress and several tops I can mix and match. In addition to overall thoughts about how these new items work for me, I’d love your opinions on some specifics:

1. Can I tuck? Tucking is new to me, but it seemed to be the best thing for these new shirts. I know that a belt is probably required for tucking into the pants, but can I get away without one on the skirt?

2. How is the skinny belt in the pencil skirt/cardi combo? Should I go with a wider belt?

3. Thoughts on the shoes? I like them but sometimes I look at them and think the toe is too round. There was another pair I may go back and get; not quite as round of a toe and more dove gray in color rather than metallic pewter.

I’m starting this work wardrobe from scratch and it’s been both fun and frustrating trying to figure out what my “work style” is. Thanks for your help in guiding me there!
