"I adore the violet color - has anyone seen them in person? Are they too garish? (whoops, sorry to hijack) "

Yes, a super-fashionable neighbour of mine has a pair of the violet ones and they look Awesome. She wears them on rainy days with all black or gray outfits and she looks smashing and the colour really brightens up the gloomy weather.

MPJ, I actually bought the violet Hunters 2 months ago and have been more or less happy with them. Ordinarily I would have purchased a safe, conservative color like black, but Nordstroms was out of them in my size. I found myself drawn to the violet ones because the color cheers me up on gloomy, rainy days. I hope they aren't too garish--I don't think so--at least not when I keep the rest of my outerwear fairly neutral.

Patience, I have been happy with my tall Hunters. I am barely 5'3" and short-legged for the most part, and the shaft of the boot comes up to the back of my knee, but not in a way that irritates it. I usually wear a 7 1/2 and I sized down to a 7 in these boots because I thought the 8 bubbled too much in the calf. Though I think I made the right choice, the snug fit of the size 7 doesn't leave much room for tucking pants into them, and the size 7 pinches the big toe on my left foot if I wear them too long. Two last things to be aware of: first, the high gloss Hunter boots get these whitish marks all over them after a while, which Hunter says is due to "a release of protective wax that can be wiped clean with a damp cloth." I've found this to be pretty much true. Second, my feet (and calves) stay dry in these boots, but tend to get cold! Nordstrom sells a sock liner that goes with the boot that I did not purchase. It might be worth a try, but your own warm wool socks might work just as well. All in all, I'm happy with my violet wellies and am looking forward to wearing them in the rain again tomorrow!

Patience - those boots do look like "pea green" to me, and not the brighter apple green of YLF. Still nice, though!

San, I did actually mean apple green although here they call it pea green:

http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/29.....4&P=1

To me lime green is more neon.
I'm not sure I want to spend so much and I suspect the hunter boots are too tall for me. Can anyone confirm this?

Sarah, keep me posted.

Apple green would be gorgeous. Angie wears apple green boots in the winter and looks so cheerful.

PS I like it better when it is called apple green, instead of lime green. Somehow the color looks prettier with the apple name.

I'm considering giving up my Diesel pair. They are only a 7.5 though. If you're interested in trying them, let me know. We could swap something whenever. :)
This one is fun...it's a newer print than mine, too

While I love colouful wellies i find them a bit outrageous and never wore them. I currently have a pair of navy blue Hunters with sparkles in them and a pair of shiny black wedge wellies with a peacock feather pattern (i couln't decide which one to keep!!!) i never feel silly wearing eiher of these whereas the colourful ones i used to only wear in snowy emergencies i'm happy to sport either of these pairs when it's raining, snowy etc x

Angie also posted these in the YLF store a while ago:

I recently got a pair of these in black & white - they aren't completely waterproof though, but I'll share them with my 20-y.o. daughter

I love the other bright colors for all the boots, but I just know they would look wrong with my jacket/clothes/whatever as I seem to be inconsistent with my wardrobe colors.

I have never owned wellies but I think it is time for me to get some so I can join my kids in the puddles. Problem is I'm overwhelmed by the amount of choices and I don't know where to begin. I don't want just plain black but I also want something I will be happy with for years and years. I saw an ad with lime green ones that kind of caught my fancy but will I like them in a few years? Do I need to get something that will coordinate with my wardrobe? I kind of wish someone would just say-- get these... because once again I don't have much time for searching out my happy pair. Thanks!
