Update on the real world application of this outfit. I tweaked it and wore a black sueded slimmer fitting button down shirt open with this outfit yesterday at my new temp job. I got some really great compliments and many people loved the boots. Thanks for the help on making this outfit work. I'm looking forward to trying the boots in other ways. Now to add more funk to some more fun outfits!

Thanks Angie for the tips. I've always thought I was an Inverted Triangle. I really like the gray jacket, but I was wondering if it was making me look bigger. I guess I should clarify and say I love it on the hanger...HA! I guess I will try and sell it and look for a better fitting alternative.

Now to look at more things for the Inverted Triangle shape. I'd love to flatter my body better. Thanks again!

Another welcome from me! Thanks for posting a picture. It’s so much more helpful that way.

I’ve found that tucking away the lace ends on my Docs makes a world of difference. The grey skinnies look good with the boots. Try dark jeans and black Ponte knit pants too.

You are 100% inverted triangle. I really like the top and the scarf! Well done! Purple is beautiful against your skin tone. But I think that this particular jacket is making you look bigger than you are. It’s too baggy on the sleeve and not the best shape for you. Try a blazer with princess lines or a biker jacket with a mandarin collar. That should balance out the top half of our body. I hope that makes sense :0)

I'll have to try them with leggings and maybe my gray tights and heather gray pencil skirt, that might be fun. I don't have any ponte knit pants and I'm hoping that they will still be available when I can spend money again. They look so comfortable.

Thanks Chewyspaghetti and Shiny.

If anyone else have ideas let me know!

I like your outfit - it's sweet! The boots work great with the gray skinnies. I suspect you could also get away with black (ponte knit, jeans, tights) because the laces are black. I know fashion pundits for petite people usually tell you to go for one color to elongate and look taller, but you are pretty proportionate so I suspect you can ignore that "rule."

Is the jacket gray? I would love to see same outfit with either a dark blue denim jacket, or black jacket (leather/pleather?) For the contrast...

What about pairing the boots with a skirt or dress?

Welcome to the forum!

EDIT to add: and obviously, dark denim jeans would work great with these boots too...

Ok, finally here is the update. I opened up my blog so you all could see the pictures, I couldn't figure out how to post pictures here any other way. Let me know what you think and if you can think of other ideas on how to wear the boots. Am I just limited to the gray skinnies?

http://a2adesigns.blogspot.com.....boots.html

Thank you so much!!!

Ok, I put together an outfit with the boots for tomorrow. I'll take a picture and try to post it. I'm going to pair them with gray skinny jeans a multi color shirt and gray jacket. Maybe a gray or purple scarf.

If anyone has some other ideas for combo's with the boots I would love to hear them.

Thanks and hopefully, I can get the picture to work.

Do you have any skinny jeans or skinny ponte knit pants? Either of those would work great for this formula. For the top/scarf, I would just choose colors that look good on you, and then add a top layer if it's cold- a swingy cardi, boyfriend blazer or boyfriend cardi. Try putting something together and posting a picture here. You will get the best advice that way.

Hi, I'm new here, but have been reading the blog for a while. I have a challenge I need help with. I want to be able to wear a pair of silver knee high boots that I have. I loved them when I got them, but have been too chicken to wear them so they show the whole boot. They are chunky like Doc Martens, the silver is a bit crinkled and they are lace up like the MOTG #2 Doc Martens. They have black stitching and laces. Here is a link of them in black. (Couldn't find the silver)

http://www.amazon.com/Climber-.....B002FRNAXU

I like the MOTG #2 way to wear the lace-up boots, so if you can help me with what to wear on top, color of jeans or just any ideas that you can think of will help me come up with a cool outfit I'd so love it! Here is some background on me...

I'm 5'2" and top heavy, not completely sure of my type but I'd say an Apple or Inverted Triangle. I'm not skinny, usually wear a size 10 jean. I'm wear a 32G bra. Hopefully, this helps too.

Thanks! I look forward to reading more on the forum and seeing what you all come up with.

Alison
