You all give such good advice! I think that standard red, bright turquoise or maroon would all work with the wardrobe in some capacity, just depending on how many years I want them to last. I don't have a seasonal constraint, as I wear the same colors year round.

The truth is that I'm pushing myself to wear these as I don't look at a colored jeans outfit and think "I want to copy that look". I like my neutral jeans and pants (olive green, blue, grey). I feel that the bright colors call attention to my statistically larger than average thighs. "Wow, look at that bright turquoise expanse of fabric stretched over that woman's thighs"

I do however really like my colored pencil skirts because I think the color tones down the formality, and there's less fabric. Bare legs are more neutral than legs encased in colored denim.

On the other hand, maybe my eye just needs to adjust to the colored denim look. There is no doubt it would be an easy way to add more variety to my wardrobe and bright colors are flattering on me. The yellow top + turquoise skinnies looked really great with my skin. I passed on the trend last year because it didn't appeal to me, but now that it appears to have some staying power, I would like to stay somewhat on top of the trends.

I can't find a good red pair that fits me anywhere right now. I do have access to turquoise and maroon pairs that will fit. Perhaps I should order them both and try to style them in some outfits. If I can't make at least five outfits with either pair and convince myself to walk out the door in them, then perhaps colored denim just isn't for me right now.

Interesting how just the act of posting photos and requesting opinions forces me to think more deeply about this.

I'd really have to say whatever works best with your closet. I find my dark burgundy and teal jeans more versatile than I would bright red, because the colors in my wardrobe (printed tops, jackets, etc.) work well with those colors. I'd take a good look at the tops you like to wear most and imagine them with each of these colors. Otherwise you'll be stuck with some fabulous color jeans that you're only wearing with neutral tops.

Are you looking for longterm versatility? In that case burgundy may be best not just becuase it is on trend but it usually appears in some form or variation each fall. However I think you live in a predominantly warm climate? if that is the case then I think tomato red might give you more versatility.

I purchased the tomato colored jeans. You are right, they are way orange. The fit is so good though and I am always concerned about finding a good fit, I decided to make the orange wok for me.

Burgundy/maroon is my first choice for this coming fall. Red is my first choice if you want something season -spanning. Also red is the one color of jeans that has stood the test of time. At least for the past 3 years, or more.

It also sounds like you aren't ready for/still sick of burgundy/maroon.

The red jeans would go with: tops 1, 3, 5, 6 and 10 for a more classic look. You could also wear tops 8 and 9 for a more trendy, fun look (when you're not afraid to stand out). I think Angie loves citron and tomato red!

I'm going to push harder for red now that I know you like it. xD

The reason I think red is going to be the most versatile is:

1) As Traci mentioned, red works across all seasons.
2) Red is not as trendy a colour as the others. It's a classic, iconic colour and I feel like red jeans are just a little bit inherently less super-trendy than other shades of coloured skinnies.
3) You like it. xD

The maroon and teal pants I feel are going to be much more of-the-moment, and thus won't have the longevity of red pants.

I actually think you could make red work with all those blouses except #7-9, for the reasons you mentioned.

Looks like red is well in the lead!

This is such a hard choice for me because my tops don't really pair that well with colored bottoms.

#1-#4 are my Classiques Entier tanks, which are too subdued in color to work with these top. #2 could *maybe* work with red and #4 could maybe work with maroon.

#5 and #6 will work with all three because they are grey/black.

#7 & #8 (Green and Yellow Nexx blouses) work best with the teal, and not quite as well with maroon. I don't love either with red due to the X-mas and McDonald associations.

#9 (Red/orange) will *maybe* work with teal unless I want to go matchy, matchy with red for a column of color.

#10 My purple tunic would work with teal, but not sure on red/maroon.

I have other tops/tanks which are not shown in the following colors: white/black, pale green, grey-ish brown, hot pink, red, brown, black, etc and more that I'm forgetting.

Red is my color and always sings to me. I already have a tomato red skirt, which as you can see, is hard enough to pair with my existing tops and I'd prefer a bluer-red than tomato if I want to wear this for multiple years.

Teal looks like the most versatile color for me but I am concerned it's too bold for work.

Maroon feels safe as work wear, but I wore so much maroon from the time I was 14 till up about 2 years ago that I'm not ready to re-explore it. My wardrobe up till this year was full of rich but darker colors but now I'm really enjoying and feeling bright colors.

Thank you for your input ladies! If seeing my wardrobe of tops helps push you one way or the other, let me know.

Burgundy gets my vote! Although the other colors are lovely on their own, they'll be hard to wear with anything other than black, white and grey. Plus, moving into autumn and winter, the burgundy will probably work better for you if your wardrobe tends to be darker at that time of year.

I would say maroon, but the picture is really reading brown to me, so then I would say red. The only problem is I can't picture your wardrobe (not familiar enough) so I don't know how your style runs to give a better answer.

ETA: I might consider keeping an eye out for blush, burgundy, or a forest green, because these colors look pretty summery. Of course depending when you live, that might be okay.

That's going to be so different depending on your favorite colors and your wardrobe. For myself, I would go with maroon/burgundy. It's subdued enough that I wouldn't feel like my legs were blinking on and off, and it would go with most of my wardrobe.

I'd go with what sings to you most and what works best with the rest of your closet. For me that would probably be the burgundy (esp. this year). But the red is so much fun.

If I had the personality or coloring to pull off bright red, that would be my first choice. Maroon or burgundy would be my next, more subdued choice. I have some bright blue ones and they feel more summery to me than fall (though it's too hot to wear them in the summer). But you should go with what appeals to you!

If you want intense then go with one of the primary colors or the red that flatters your complexion the most. Personally I love red and try to incorporate that into my outfits as much as possible.

Colors that flatter you never go out of style.
