I really like the skirt in #2! I think you can wear full skirts with the top tucked in, as long as the waistband is actually small enough to fit snugly at your natural waist. I have a similar body type to you, and almost all of my full skirts that fit my waist well are vintage; the rest I have to belt. Modern skirts seem to be made to fit at the high hip instead, which messes up the proportions (for me at least). Looking a the skirt in #3, it looks like it's sagging a bit because the waistband isn't small enough. Depending on how the skirt's made, it can be easy to tuck the waistband in a bit at each side, and disguise that in the fullness of the fabric.

Thanks for all the insights Annabelle. I went back to work 2 years ago actually and did expand my work wardrobe then (see my earlier post http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....-realities) in addition to making use of some underused more formal looks that I had picked up over the MOTG years, plus some work looks that were fairly old but lasted well.
But I love work clothes, and am keen to add a few more pieces to expand my selection.

Agree about Angie's point. I have no negative vibe over the fuller skirts but you simply look so fantastic in the pencil cut skirt. (I'd go shorter in that.)

I love the pink blouse on you, both the color and shape.

And I find the ivory in the specs blouse quite flattering to your complexion and hair color and style.

Fun going back to work, eh?

I like the first top and the second skirt the most. Is the first skirt only sheer on that one part at the bottom? If so, I think I like it too - other comments made me second guess. The second skirt is memorable as Joy said, but I think you could style it to change it up - with dark on top, white on top, bright color as you're showing it and with various toppers, plus with tops tucked, untucked, tunic, etc.

The last two skirts are pretty full.

LOVE the second skirt - that looks fabulous on you. Not as keen on the full skirts, but I think they could look better with a fitted top and a heeled shoe.

Firstly - THANKS Guys - I had no idea abou the bra stap showing in the pink top (which I already own - bought in in Zara in Melbourne). I have no doubts that this top is work- appropriate but I'll be wearing it with a strapless bra from now on!

unfrumped - I usally just wear the pink top with my charcoal straight skirt - so definitely less drama. My workplace isn't casual or creative but I think it is fine.

Secondly - I think I agree with all of you!! My thoughts;
Yes - blouse in 1 is too sheer and would need an underlayer
I was a bit underwhelmed by the red skirt - I hadn't thought of the sheer angle but I thought the peplum wasn't adding much to the skirt look
I really like the skirt in number 2

The second 2 skirts are definitely too long, but I didn't really feel they did me any favours. I have noticed fuller skirts are coming back in and just wanted to try out the silhouette. Some of the younger women at work look good in them and they are easier to fit because I only need to fit the waist.

Lunchbreak coming up - more changeroom pics to come up!

I am not going to actually buy anything for a while

Love the "specs print" shirt. I also like the photo print pencil skirt. I think you need different footwear for this, though.

I would worry about the sheerness of the red pencil skirt. The full skirts don't thrill me. They seem a bit overwhelming, although maybe styled with something different on top they could work.

Congratulations on finding some workable items!

I like skirts #1 and 2 for work. Re: sheerness of #1--is it partly lined or wearing a slip--anyway the cut is good if can figure out appropriate lining or slip thing.
Also really like # 2, don't think it's too long.
For pink top, it looks good but not sure of your work persona and also can't give my "neckline evaluation" re: the exposure in front. For me it would be a little too much color + drape for work, but YMMV.
Skirt #3 is quite pretty, versatile colors for different combos. Again, to me it reads a little festive for work but especially with the pink top--as opposed to toning it down with a neutral top, which might work. If your office is more casual or creative then all of that might be fine, or if you are in the market for a skirt to wear for more fun occasions and then try to sober it up for work.
skirt #4 is a great pattern, but I think is too full for your frame, or looks that way in the pic. Skirt #3 is full but drapes more vertically and gives a nice amount of volume, whereas #4 I think is more overwhelming, though the graphic black & white is fab. Not sure if you tried a size down.
Not meaning to have pink-top negativism--I think it can be a keeper as a flattering top (maybe it's yours already!), I'm just dithering on whether it works for work and how, meaning, does it need a topper, does it want less drama in the bottoms.
You look great in most of these shots, so to me it's more about figuring out your work capsules and what gives you the most mileage, where are your wardrobe holes.

I love the spec shirt in #1 and the skirt in #2. (Wonder if they would work together?) I also like the skirt in #3 as a different kind of silhouette, with a short jacket ... maybe it wouldn't read as current-enough to other folks, though. The pink draped top works great with both 2 and 3.

The pencil is fantastic in my book, esp. with the pink draped top. I think the longer length takes advantage of the thirds thingy - 1/3 top, 2/3s bottom. The neutral tone of the shoes also works here to my mind.

I like the specs shirt in the first photo and that skirt, although the skirt looks like it could be a little sheer.
Is your pink top office appropriate without a topper to cover bra straps? The color is great. It may be the photo angle, but (and I can't believe I'm saying this) the skirts in 2-4 seem a little too long on your small frame. I like 2 the best but that would be a very memorable skirt in a small wardrobe. I like the silhouette of 2 on you too.
