There is one consignment shop here and the clothes always come home with a "musty+sweat+febreeze" odor. I have luck getting it out by soaking/washing in baking soda and powder detergent. For wool pants, coats, and other dry clean only items, look for a dry cleaner that does gown preservation or restoration, or leather cleaning. Opening soon for S/S. My only concern is that I have a very 21st century build, so vintage is questionable. I find that I can fit smaller sizes if sleeveless. I'm tallish at 5 ft 7 in with modest bust and average hips - but strong shoulder line due to genetics and enhanced by sports interest. The money goes to Big Brothers Big Sisters. It is a very small shop, so it doesn't take much time to scout things out. This linen/rayon blend sleeveless shirt dress ticked all the boxes - red, shirt styling, linen (or cotton) - on my S/S list. (I wanted to add 2-3 summer dresses this year.) I ran it through the wash to ensure dye transfer wouldn't be an issue, and gave it a press. Like new! </p> <p>#1-2 Liz Claiborne Crazy Horse Jeans dress - 55% linen/45% Rayon styled with sneakers, #3 and #4 styled with Jean style jackets and footwear from my closet. I am going to give it a try over pants/jeans as well.</p> <p>My good luck at thrift (and lack there-of at retail) is keeping me well under my clothing budget goal for 2019. Now, if the weather would just warm-up so I can wear my new S/S items.... </p>
