Olivegreen, well, I guess I write when I need to just get my thoughts out of my head -- including sartorial freedom.

Diane G, ...there is nothing wrong with embracing different personas even if to you they may sound as though they are opposites, because when you put an outfit together it with still be the essence of 'your style'. That's a keeper of a quote! I love it, and it makes perfect sense!

trk3kkie9rl and jackiec, so glad it resonated with you! It seems the best to explain the process right now. And Jackie, yes, it feels good to give myself permission to be me.

Meredith, yahoo Team Eclectic! That is where I fall and I love it! I shall post a WIW with fur. Just for you Right now!

Sterling, it's rather surprising how much extra it takes to process it all. It's not an easy process like I once thought. But totally worth it, I think.

I'm working on a style re-evaluation as well. It takes a lot of time, effort, and thought. Posting is a great way to analyze with the help of the forum. Writing it down solidifies it in your brain. Well done.

Don't worry about the length of your post, I've seen some WAY longer lol
And I did really enjoy reading this, especially when you said "I have done all of this experimenting on a canvas, got some things out of my system, and now I can finally maybe approach a clean surface and begin slowly gently filling it with color." That particular sentiment really resonated with me, and I feel exactly the same way - you articulated it so well, so thank you!

I'm so glad I have lovely ladies like you <3 <3 <3 Thanks for listening and cheering me on with helpful insight, kind comments, and excitement!!! mwah! xoxo

crutcher, you are like a handful of violets on a spring day. I really love our chats and discussions, c! I feel that I have done all of this experimenting on a canvas, got some things out of my system, and now I can finally maybe approach a clean surface and begin slowly gently filling it with color. You are so fun too. You may always toast me with champagne, but especially when I figure out who I want to be. Which is probably different at different times. Smiles, hugs, and love to you -- and Tobs!

Stayfit, <3

shevia, okay, I'm glad to hear that!! I just felt like I keep posting so much about the same thing. But you have made a sound, good point about personal style!! There really is so much to choose from, unlike past decades where it was only one main trend with variants to accommodate each woman, or so it seems. Bringing it! xo

Firecracker, :) I'm a verbal processor, so it helps to get it out of my head and just say it! So...here I go :)

Suz, dare I say I'm getting there?? Yes, I think so. I share in your yippee!!!

Summer, I love reading about other people's though processes too! I have my times where I just let my mind roll and the don't analyze my thoughts. And the other times I usually must get it out verbally or on paper. It helps me immensely.

Of course these thoughts belong here! Angie has pointed out the beauty of today's fashion is that there is so much to choose from that it really is about personal style. Personal style is what you are talking about! And it is a process and we love to talk about how it shifts and re-focuses. Bring it on Keturah!

Okay girls, I realize this isn't a place for personal blogging. So if I am overstepping the forum decorum, please say so. I just find myself needing to process my recent style shifts, and I hope you all don't mind.

Fitting into a box doesn't work for me. I realized that trying to define my style is a bit pointless. It doesn't seem to work. I change from year to year, and often season to season. I think I was afraid to do that for many reasons. I was worried about being on trend and pleasing people. I forget that fashion is art: it's fun, it's an expression, and it can be interpreted many ways.

I just got honest with myself: Keturah, forget about the cost, the level of maintenance, the trends. Honestly, what do you love?

I love...
ladylike
retro
glam
flowing lines
gorgeous colors
rich prints
pretty and beautiful and feminine and romantic
relaxed but chic items that look like you could sleep in them

pairing what I love with what I love
effortless
simple
lots of real fur
knit sweaters
Italian everything
Eva Mendes
Emma Stone
Sophia Loren
Rita Hayworth
silk scarves tied into turbans
lots of makeup
minimal makeup
beautiful shoes

Wearing sneakers doesn't make me less fashionable or feminine. Wearing high heels doesn't make me high maintenance. And dang it, I'm not dressing for people, I'm dressing for myself. I wasn't allowing myself to wear certain things because it doesn't always fit my lifestyle need, or I was afraid I of coming across as high maintenance. But some of that is just fear talking, and some of that can be worked with.

Textured Soft Sporty Luxe is gorgeous. So is ladylike and glam. And retro, trendy modern.

It's nice to know that I can pair a fur with my Asic Tigers. And I'm suddenly okay letting go of ethnic bohemian pieces. I love them dearly, but I don't know that they express me as they once did. And joggers are superbly comfy as slacks.

Anywoo.... I feel I've belabored the point enough. And by gosh, if you all aren't sick of hearing me analyze, process and overthink it all by now... I owe you all chocolates.

And that's all I've got to say.

The end.
