Thanks. Grau is grey, yes. They do look a bit greenish on my screen, but they might be true grey IRL. I also like the taupe, but taupe is not as versatile if it's too warm colored. I think I'm going to write a mail and ask about measurements before I order the shorts. As for the sandals, I thought either light colored (nude or bookending my hair) or metallic as a more interesting neutral. I think both would be nice. I don't really wear sandals when it's not really warm, so wearability in fall or early spring wouldn't matter much. I get cold feet easily.

all of these seem very you. the taupe would look great for summer, especially rolled. you have great legs. the grau (grey?) is nice too.

love the shoe #5, then #6. #4 is fine but less versatile. are you thinking of getting a light colored shoe or a metallic shoe? you can wear the metallic further into the fall probably, but the light color seems fresher for summer and will lighten up that navy skirt.

Thanks Pil!

Thanks Donna. We don't have school uniforms here in Germany as a rule, I never had to wear one. You're right that the sandals might not work out, it probably would be better to find some with more adjustable straps.

Thanks Gaylene. I agree that these all could work well in theory. Hopefully I'm going to find them in the local stores to try them. And I'd love having you as a doppelganger, of course!

Well, I won't be any help because I like everything. I bought a pair of light-grey chino shorts last summer and wore them constantly because they went with everything. And my utility jacket is another workhorse in the spring and fall. The same goes for a neutral-colored walking sandal.

I don't, though, have a navy linen flare skirt but, now that I've seen yours, I'm thinking I ought to rectify that immediately. And it would all fit quite nicely in my SportSac bag that is similar to yours. How do you feel about having a doppelganger on the other side of the Atlantic?

The shorts look like they are cut very straight, so I will be interested to hear later how they fit. I like the skirt style but I associate navy with school uniforms. Maybe that is just where I live? As to the sandals: Style-wise, I like #6 the best followed by #5. It appears that #6 can only be adjusted over the instep, and #5's strap covers adjustments to the heel and instep. And #4 adjusts at the heel only? I know you do a lot of walking, and I suppose #5 might provide the most support since it has all those straps, but who knows if they might also cut into your skin? I think #5 looks most like YOUR style.

Best of luck!

Thanks cf! I agree about the drawstring, it needs to be just right. It will probably be too low on me too, we'll see. I haven't tried many pants from Eddie Bauer so far, although my bf jeans are EB. I didn't know they were better for straight figures. I might try to find something similar in a B&M store first, it would be certainly easier if I could just try them without ordering.

I like #5 the best of the shoes, but they're all nice. The skirt is fab, and the parka will be great as long as the drawstring hits at the right place (it looks like it's too low down to be flattering on the model).

I like the idea of the shorts, but have you had good luck with Eddie Bauer? I think of them as cutting for a very straight figure, not your tiny waist-hip ratio. But it doesn't sound like they're much risk!

Thanks Thistle! I hope it works out, skirts like this with enough length are hard to find.

Thanks Beth Ann! I'm still thinking about the shorts. They are a nice fallback option in any case. I'm going to Hamburg, only a stone's throw from Berlin with the train. The rest of my family is doing a city break during the school holidays and I'm joining them.

I see you're getting the skirt (yeah). I like the shorts, rolled even better, and my favorite shoes are the last, slightly darker pair. However, like the shape of the shoes in #5 quite well, too.

I don't have much experience with utility jackets -- so I'll defer to others on that.

I like all of these items for you Astrid. That skirt is a great shape. And a utility jacket is one of the most practical purchases, I get a lot of wear from my navy one. I like the first pair of shorts. And I really love that second pair of shoes. The colour, the intertwining of the straps through that piece in the centre, gorgeous!

Thanks Texstyle! I think rolling the shorts might be possible, they should be long enough. But I'd have to try that. I actually have more patterned summer tops at the moment, if you don't count the button downs. My solid colored tops are more or less layering tops. I agree that a patterned skirt might be more fun, but this looked at first glance like the summer version of my black skirt that has been a wardrobe workhorse in fall and winter. Good eye on the sandals, I agree the the second pair looks more boho then the others. I'm going to see if they have them in store to try. The parka would be for spring, yes. I only have my coat (good for wearing between 5°C and 12°C) and the denim jackets. Or gear. I thought I'd wear this over my jeans when it's too warm for the coat. I'd also see if they have it in the store; there are unfortunately no measurements online.

The shorts look great (I like bermudas rolled just a bit like #2). The skirt looks like a great fabric and style but I wonder if a pattern would be more fun and get more wear? If you wear a lot of solid tops I'd think a patterned skirt might be more flexible (like in Angie's post this morning - that skirt with so many options is really SO great).

The sandas all look nice - the first ones "look" like they'd be most comfortable and sort of classic. The second pair seem a bit more "boho" or "ethnic" and the third are a great neutral, I guess more classic again.

The parka - is this for spring? It is a bit dark - and I'm not sure if the drawstring is making it very flattering on the model. Seems a bit long maybe?

The bag looks functional, practical.

Thanks Anne! I would have gone for the navy shorts in the past, but I think the two I've shown are better options with the goal of going lighter in mind. The first ones are called 'grey', so not sure how the color would read IRL.

Thanks Ornella! Casual is not a problem. My old workhorse summer shorts were colored denim (the light blue ones, remember?) and I love them, but they are too big now. I already thought the skirt would be a good option, I'm thinking about ordering two sizes to compare. And shipping is only 0,95€ with free returns. Sandal #6 and #5 are from Ecco, #4 is Clarks. The Ecco ones are even more expensive than the Clarks, but I love the quality of my Ecco boots. I'm going to buy only one pair of sandals, so maybe I shouldn't stint on shoes. The fading of the parka doesn't bother me, I like that. Makes it look a bit RATE. I'd wear it with jeans.

I can't "read" chinos other than they are very casual option, so I'll be interested to learn what others say.

Skirt - YES. By all means. Great style for you and linen mix is great fabric, it won't crease too much if that worries you but will still look linen-y and summery. I have white linen skirt in this style and love it. Plus, today's post has great ideas for styling... and, navy will look great on you. This is *the* skirt, I promise you. Just get it in the right size... schnell :-)

Sandals - my oder of preference: 6 (pretty, dressy and metallic color is fun and acts as nice neutral. Actually, this looks like a great find, where are they from?); 5 (pretty and dressy); 4 (appear the most casual of all because of the shape of the sole, hence the last place on my list).

Parka - It's nice, but my only question would be about the possible fading, given it's cotton.

I think it all looks promising - love the cut on that skirt. I would go for the green shorts myself (#1). As for the sandals, none of them repulse me (understatement, I like them all!), so it's just a matter of which is more comfortable.

Here are some more items I'm thinking about trying. I'd love to hear your thoughts on these, if they have potential or not.

#1/2
Chino shorts. I haven't worn pants without back pockets for a while, but affordable non denim shorts with back pockets and a long enough inseam are hard to find. Should I try these? If yes, which color? http://www.eddiebauer.de/Women.....uer-4.html

#3
Linen cotton mix skirt from Esprit. It's new in and already sold out in all the stores. It's not white, but navy is a great neutral. I'm not sure how much the fabric would crease, but the length is good. http://www.esprit.de/new/taegl.....humbOutfit

#4-6
These are all fairly expensive and don't have adjustable straps, so might not work out anyway. But they are light colored and look like they could work with everything. Any preferences? I might try to find these in the stores before I order online.

#7
Cotton parka. Not sure if this would fit, but I like the look and it's not as expensive as many other options I've seen. But also dark and solid colored. http://www.c-and-a.com/de/de/s.....el/97864/2

#8
Not asking about this, I've already bought it. Remember when I asked about luggage a while bag? I've taken my old suitcase to Italy, but I'm going on a short trip at the end of the month and didn't want to take the big bag. This one has similar dimensions to the LeSportsac one Gaylene linked to, but was much cheaper. And I've had Eastpak before, the quality is good. Hopefully the size works out and will motivate me to take less stuff with me. It will be useful as a gym bag in any case.
